Oh wow! Love tamiya stuff. Don't sleep on tamiya man. Had a fire dragon back in the day, very very competitive buggy. This will do the same with some minor upgraded parts. Tamiya is legendary 😉
The original Vanquish had problems with the "G" parts. The plastic parts in the back of the car were fragile and broke. Does the Tamiya VQS have the same problems? Thoughts?
I have the original Vanquish back in 1994 unfortunately it was wreck, finally they re release it so i will buy one, & use some old but reusable parts of my original Vanquish, currently i just bought an Avante 2001
Thanks for the review. Do you think this is an over priced attempt to cash in on nostalgia or do you think this is a good value buggy? I know it has 3 differentials but plastic shocks at this price point. Isn't that a little mean?
Thanks for the memories :) Very reminiscent, yes? I think with the stock motor etc the setup will be fine with the plastic components. Metal appears to be used where it offers the best price vs performance. Looks like it would make a nice platform for an upgrade market. Higher speeds = higher jumps = greater forces = plastic fails! I don't think the shocks and tower assembly would last long if the jumps were consistently 4 or 5 times higher. Great Vid'. Keep up the good work :)
Great Vid! Would you say the Tamiya VQS is a better drive/handler than the Avante? It seems to handle jumps without that typical Avante nose dive......Just wondering.
My dad built 2 RC10s, one being the 1992 (I think) Worlds edition either the two piece rims and gold chassis. He also built a Tamiya buggy, but sort of just left it hidden away...clearly he didn't like it as he did the RC10s. I looked at it a number of years ago, and some pieces were missing for mounting the wheels. It uses some proprietary mounting setup for the wheels, and I couldn't get anything to work with it, so it was put away again. However, it is evident that the Tamiya was nothing near the level of Associated, even during those rather early years of RC. Had my dad been a Tamiya fan back in the day, I would likely have gone for some of their vehicles...but those yellow shocks are certainly a key part of Tamiya products, and something that clearly gives it away as being Tamiya, because the buggy...I think it's a 1989 model, had the same shocks. One other reason I've never wanted to go for a Tamiya is that, well, they are rather expensive for what you get. If you have the money and need a vehicle that brings you back to the "golden years", it makes sense. However, for what the vehicles offer compared to modern rc vehicles, their prices are a tad high. Does Tamiya make anything good? I'm not saying this buggy is junk, but it's clearly focused at being a nostalgic vehicle, built for the lesser requirements that rc cars had back in the day. As such, it's a good vehicle within that setting...but do they make anything that can really perform?
When's that Arrma V5 video coming out Greg?!?🤪 I'm going to wait tell mid December the latest to grab one. But I am putting up money next week for MiniB. If there sold out of V5 in Dec. I'll go for something bigger 🤣 have a great rest of your weekend!
Been waiting for years for TAMIYA to release this kit, but seriously they are releasing it with those yellow shocks. Can't wait to get mine, but I'm going to change those shocks. Thanks for sharing.
That jumps really nice and doesn't seem to slam into the ground on every jump! i do feel that it is way over priced for what it is though sadly. Nice kit but not very attached to this one as had lost interest by the time these come out. the one i really want now is the Egress but cannot find them anywhere
I had the original Vanquish. 1st to go are the shock towers, front and back. Plastic becomes brittle and breaks in pieces, most likely due to jumps. This is very expensive now. They should have made aluminum shock towers for this. I loved the shape of this 4x4 R/C, looked like an F1 in my opinion.
The overarching sentiment is that at $337 it is overpriced for what you get. Add to that, that most people want the aluminum hi-cap dampers which will set you back another $50+.
yeah really not cool to tear up the bmx track like that, it ruins the lips of the jumps. same reason people shouldn’t be running around on them like a playground. keep the rc cars in concrete skate parks and away from dirt features. i’m sure people who ride that track would apriciate that
Really not cool commenting on scenarios you don’t know about. My family helped build much of that BMX track because we were riders. I make sure to take care of it when I’m done as I’ve done for 30 years. I see riders damaging the track all the time and then just leaving. 60-250lb Riders do more harm to the track than little 5lb toy cars.
I keep trying to get into Tamiya I purchased two kits and paint and bearings and the screwdrivers etc when it's all said and done these things are overpriced toys and my honest opinion maybe they're most expensive ones are nice but what you can get for the money somewhere else has me second guessing purchasing these things but kind of like the style of some of them especially the bodies are really nice but the chassis are toy grade
Go brushless, and esc change, make it better, for competition wise, nice testing it, looks like it's very dramatic slow wake of less speed 🧐 but roughly 15 mph topped out top speed to 25 mph, meh 😐 nice run on it.🤔
Can’t wait to get one!!! If top speed is all that matters go and buy a traxxas, if you want the proper full RC experience buy a Tamiya.
My Tamiya Top Force did 71Mph and my TT02 does 97Mph. You can have a proper experience AND go stupid fast...hahaha.
Oh wow!

Hi there, we have serious upgrades for the VQS at our eBay store. Just type rcevologic in the search! Cheers from Team rcEvoLogic
Is it true that if you drive it the part in the back and front of suspension will break right away?
True. Hi there, we have serious upgrades for the VQS at our eBay store. Just type rcevologic in the search! Cheers from Team rcEvoLogic

Tamiya have not upgraded the G11 part , it’s still plastic . However , it’s at least new plastic , and not brittle 33 year old plastic .

You have the best reviews. Comes with experience. I miss buying your RC magazines
A kit looks really fun sometime I'm just not ready to properly choose electronics and motor. Thanks for sharing Greg looked fun!
Quick little buggy cool jumps 👍
Great video. I just restored an original with rere body stickers and tires. Looks amazing.
Omg I was so lucky to actually find the original version in a goodwill in 2012! It was gutted but the wheels and tires and chassis was original.
Wow! That’s awesome! I never have any good finds. Saw a beat Grasshopper at a flea market once and the guy wanted $300. 🤦♂️
I worked at goodwill and found two original chassis rc10 gold tub chassis and traxxas trx buggies paid 6.00 USD a piece for both
That is cool to see this out again and I will be buying one for myself, I have two Tamiya kits coming for Christmas but I can always add another :)
Outstanding!
Awesome review of an Epic Tamiya buggy! 😃
Very nice amigo 😀👍
I got a 2020 vqs & Put a 13.5 Turn brushless motor with matching esc .its a brilliant piece of kit to have fun with whilst im fishing
Awesome 😎 hopefully we see these in Aus Soon 😎👌🏻

How is the imfamous G part in the back? Is it made stronger than the old version?
Nope - lol . They used standard plastic for the G parts ... it’s the only thing that has prevented me from buying this rerelease .

That BMX track looks like the absolute perfect spot for RC cars!
Thanks for the review. Do you think this is an over priced attempt to cash in on nostalgia or do you think this is a good value buggy? I know it has 3 differentials but plastic shocks at this price point. Isn't that a little mean?
Compared to what you can get for the money somewhere else this thing is trash The Traxxas bandit is better than this this thing is a toy.

Did you have problems with part # G11?

Were did you get the hoodie?
How do i go about stiffening the Suspension up on my 2020 vqs
Great Vid!
Would you say the Tamiya VQS is a better drive/handler than the Avante? It seems to handle jumps without that typical Avante nose dive......Just wondering.
This is a great model
Are they wheel bearings or still the original brass bushings
Is there a release date for the VQS yet ?

Just subscribed, love your vids :)

Saw the tc-01 in the background. Much more pumped to hear your opinion on that one.
That one will be pretty detailed. I’m going to cover all the available options for it. Should be fun.
Great video. I am not the target market for this rc.
Nice build most famous nuts get the kits order upgrades from Manuel or side of box then build kind of pricey but that's what we love lol
Been waiting for years for TAMIYA to release this kit, but seriously they are releasing it with those yellow shocks. Can't wait to get mine, but I'm going to change those shocks. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah Racing makes aluminum front and rear knuckles for the Avante/Egress if you want to upgrade them
I have heard G11 parts on this are fragile and cannot be replaced easily . Otherwise , nice car .
Hi there, we have serious upgrades for the VQS at our eBay store. Just type rcevologic in the search! Cheers from Team rcEvoLogic
For high kits, Tamiya needs to include FULL ball bearings in them. For the price you pay it should be a given.
No they do not. Bearings are cheap, most people run them 5-6 times and put them on the shelf.
for a second I thought the steering servo linkage was a chassis brace, that thing is LONG!
Thx. It's about 300€ in Europe. (Germany)
I had the original, and it drives very well. Just do not put high power bl in it. The mid ball dif can not handle it.

Aluminum is heavy, no need. Reinforced plastic is strong enough.
No way ... But great video
I am view #1000
great video btw
Why is this buggy so expensive? Compared to others in its price range it isn't very competitive.
Where did you get your hex driver rack or holder from?
It’s from Xtreme Racing. I think it’s discontinued though.
@@rcdriver ahhh boooo. That's exactly the kinda rig I'm looking for. You go to change out keep me in mind please sir
Seems a lot of money for something that's just okay and a bit of fun. Looks cool but also very fragile.

Look at the bruiser which is sold for 770$.
Tamiya loves overpricing their things

I love my Tamiyas. But it's a bit pricey for what you get. And I wish they would do away with the JIS Phillips hardware.
At $199 USD this plastic fantastic would be somewhat interesting. Too bad it’s way more than $199. Pass.
Agreed. The VQS is slated to be above $300. Crazy. $250 is tops for this kit.
Damn that thing is slow

337 msrp! na thx
First

"Back in the day rc's had to be slow to get a longer runtime"
this car is over priced and over hyped.
I love this car.
Overpriced plastic dinosaur they dont even give you a full bearing set ffs
Now I can put my original one into trash.
Funny, everyone else knows this thing is ridiculously priced. Thanks but no thanks 👍
I'm amazed anyone would review this... Terrible for the price. 😔
This seems like a rip-off. The only thing going for it is the nostalgia
I wish they would re release a rc10t or jrxt. Buggies are so boring. Everyone has one or thats all they re release. The stadium truck is where its at
Why would anyone spend that much money for something like this and put it on a shelf to collect dust? More money than brains, especially adult males.
Definitely not worth the money. I see kids toys that are made better than this.
