Not rich men challenging , but voices of reason!
Countries are planting trees 🌲 but Gambia is cutting down trees 🌲. What’s the reason behind this? Are we building roads in every corner of the country or are we just jealous of those who can afford to have such beautiful houses and are able to put up structures and plant trees 🌲 that many find useful while walking under the sunny Gambia and use the trees 🌲 as shades?
Exactly my thoughts
I totally agree
This is what happens when a state is failed
What they are doing is not justifiable in so many ways.
❤❤❤❤
This is not even scratching the surface of the problems in Gambia. Random acts of destruction without proper equipment isn't going to make the country look any cleaner,or any more organised. It's still filthy and chaotic. People who think by doing this is going to solve all the issues, which are stopping correct development here. It'll still be like this in five years time.Government needs a proper long term plan, rather than useless acts of vandalism.
some of the destructions are totally unnecessary.
I agree with the brother talking about giving users a notice. The gov messed up
How do these people ,know for sure where the property line ends or start..
They go with national plan
They use a Magic Crystal Ball
How about give exception to green encroachments like trees and flowers. That’s the beauty of the country.
Gambia is like a village, one of the worst and undeveloped countries in west Africa
Tell that woman that even if her son is a lawyer, she has no right to build anything outside her home. Her home stops at the fence, any space outside belongs to the public. You do not need to be a lawyer to differentiate between wrong and right. Just common sense.
Exactly. Tell them to go back to the uk and break laws.
Thank you just stupid sometimes this lawyer thing gets into their heads
Some people think too highly of themselves. They re not better than the vendors and other people whose illegal structures were demolished. They must comply!
@@bahdembo1171 comply of what ? So you think Gambia is moving forward? Haha wake up to reality
@@raka8015 Where in my comment did I say “ she’s stupid “ ?
I am in full support of the clear the road operation..BUT, I dont get this part, perhaps someone can educate me in the comments section....i really feel people who have beautiful and well kept gardens in front of their houses should be left alone, because this adds beauty to the country. You see these in other African countries...please reconsider this one...Unless the government has plans to make residential areas beautiful..
You're spot on. Continuously criticizing various aspects of the neighborhood without concrete plans for road development is futile. If the government isn't ready to take on road development, they should step back and allow the community to manage their own streets.
Bro you are right and the trees should be left alone!
The justification IS people clame ownership of public space what has appplied to vendors on street the same thing should applied for any one on the public spaces or on the Roads without the consent of NRA
And again the justification is that now the demolition reach to rich people now people want to change the narrative you see the critisizing most Come Out to the NRA with the vision how develop our roads and Roads corridoors
Their homes stops at their fence…. Any space outside their home belongs to the public, therefore they have no right to put anything their either temporal or permanent.
You're spot on, they should have a development plan in place going forward.

This is totally embarrassing and unnecessary. Worst of all they have no basic plans toward this..
20 meters away from the road still can't breathe, even though there's no development toward that end smh.. hope they reach the American Embassy...
@@kingovbling9273 You're spot on.
He made the place look better
Wish this much emphasis was placed on education and adequate healthcare. Ensure every child in The Gambia goes to school. Ensure that expecting mothers can deliver their babies in clean and safe hospital settings with qualified professionals. Do something to decrease the infant mortality rate. For your information making thousands of people unemployed, increasing hunger and the potential for more crime isn't beneficial for anyone.
Absolutely, right but i I don't think people understand how things work. If u do that first, that the people will be helping, but it is pure destruction no country should be carrying out destruction of property and the country there should be a plane to rebuild first .but know Africa's enemies are proud.
Couldn't have been said any better👏👏
If they have the right, they also have the right to now clean it up.. I wouldn't touch 1 brick they have torn down , so they place will look worse than it was.. no plans ,just distruction. Make it make sense.. seems to me you have bigger problems in gambia. Why not start with health care, welfare ,beautification is secondary.. my poor people. I'm so sorry this is happening in this manner.
Like the old man said, before u start distroying anything u need to have a plan
This is irrational on so many fronts, and someone definitely fell asleep on the switch: why wait years after structures have been erected, then destroy them trying to cite the law? The law should have been enacted prior to these developments. Before any structure is erected or any enhancements made, there should be requirements that must be met, zoning and planning laws that must be in place and enforced at all levels of government, and regular inspections conducted. To wait until people have done these projects (whether legally or illegally) and then show up with limited "in the law," explanations are totally despicable. Someone fell asleep at the switch!
The guy from the fire station is funny. His excuse isn’t valid, why speed in the first place coming out of that building? Given the history of their department, we all know they are rushing to do nothing! Basically rushing to the place to tell them, they came with an empty tank 🙄
Whether the road is going to be developed or not your land measurement is where you should stop period
Thank you.
These people have laid claims to the land outside their compounds to use as their private garden and parking places . If I tried to park there I would be abused
Rich and poor people in the Sam boat remove everything liberate the roads for all of us
They need to resurvey some of this areas and have a plan on paper. As uncle said 20m from the main road is unnecessary destruction
It's all a power trip! If road developer doesn't begin in say 6 months that's what it is a power trip.
@@mjohnson1765 I agree
Nothing will happen, we’ll die and won’t see nothing change in that country
@Ismael_jagne maybe the next operation should be getting rid off all these incompetent workforce. The younger generation with degrees will get a job.
If other NRA/Government projects are as swift and effective as this one. We will have better road networks. It seems that we are only good at destroying and not building.
Gambia is still in the 80s because the entire country looks like a village
The gamtel old man really make sense
The man said the truth
For real they just destroying n they have no plan to develop the road
i can’t watch this anymore my high blood pressure is up why are you destroying those beautiful flowers
They said they’re going to develop the village. The whole county looks like a village so they’re developing it. This Country is failed 🤦🏾♂️
These women selling coal, Ndeysan my heart bleed, it reminds me of my mums struggle, when we where young, people who are laughing and saying is good to them, Because you are comfortable in Europe or home or any where, I pray for all those mothers struggling to make end meet, inshallah one day you will eat the fruit of your labour.
I can bet the Gambian govt don't treat the Chinese like that huh ?
I hope the government has a development plan, ready to implement. Developing a lot of ill will of the people. So the government never inforced code.
I have come to the conclusion that we Gambians just love our sandy roads and surroundings. Anything else is anathema to us. We do not want to beautify our surroundings but are running to countries where the frontage of housesare similar to what residents are developing in Gambia.
And certain things are part of development especially the flowers, those one should not be destroyed
Mr camara and the team are foolish. Why are these flowers been removed when it’s just for beautification
When a man holds little power his true colors begin to show
I mean what the point of starting to demolish the Chinese guy's place just to ask him to remove it by tomorrow huh? It's because he's rightfully upset and you didn't like the attitude that's why you showed him this temporary position that's been given to you
i hope someone do you half a have favor when you need full the most
When mandinary high way very busy and tide from NTC down to mandinary
What senseless destruction in the name of progress.
How can they make excuses building outside of their fence?
This People are claiming our roads as part there compounds is wrong thank you the Gambia the mother land
Tankz you papa you are right 👍
That guy talking about vision and development used to work at then Gamtel , he ran away to the US when Jammeh came to power. Tell him Gambia is too small
Its big time to do like this, the roads get smaller and smaller when they build and move out in the steets
You can beautify within the perimeter of your property
The sad truth is that all these could have been avoided ifj there was a follow up from the authority in charge of building regulation
This elderly man is fully correct and right may Allah grant our nation and it’s people’s a better education for our president, politicians and all Aameen
Ameen and thanks for the dua
Sorry to say, but the task force needs re-education on safety and the actual law. They are indeed creating a hazard. Like bro said, people could get hurt from all the rubble they are leaving behind.
The law of the land must be enforced,
No strategy about this demolition, it's sad to see how it going on
Can't wait to see what in put in place after this destruction. Open sewers most likely SMH
Well said .. they don’t have any development plans,, no vision to develop this damages,, also no economic development in this,, shame on them
But you get the part of poor market women being ruthlessly displaced; poor young men and women who are only trying to earn honest living being ruthlessly displaced without being given alternative places to sell?
We all need clean and safe roads but this operation has been messy from day 1. Not surprised as it is directed by a clueless leader who has zero compassion for the poor people he leads. A clearheaded leader would have provided better planning for the majority poor and the few rich concerned. Remember the poor hungry children who are waiting on these brave women. Most of the people running this operation have been fed, clothed and schooled by brave women who sell in the streets and markets to support this dying economy.
this is weeketness and stubidness bad goverment in gambia.am craying now for this........
Journey of a thousand mile begins with one step. Without clearing the road how can it be developed. Rich, poor has a property line. Stay in your zone and you will not be affected.
This recording doesn't show the many, many, many small businesses that were demolished. Restaurants and food shops, car washes, welding shops, bars, clothes shops. You name it ! From the highway to tipper garage looks like a war zone. Shame..shame...shame😢
I went to tippa garage to by my vegetables and ALL the stalls are gone. I was forced to enter Happy Corner market where it isn't safe. So many people that you don't know they have picked your pocket and I was walking through dirty sewage water. Imagine in the rainy season how bad that will be.
Keep the good work
my only qyuestion is why did mr manneh give the police station 2 weeks to cover their mess at brusubi turntable and give the civilians 24 hours.. am all down for what they are doing but it aint fucking fair
Human life is more important than material or property life, so more priority so be given the human life first
Wanneer gaan ze die wegen maken?
This gov't is a total disgrace how on earth will u remove what does npt affect the road and the raining season is coming i petty ppl poto poto every where
This things at fire service should remain there as far it for safety
Half of this demolition isn’t making sense. Is he gonna cut the trees down.
The clearing is a great move, but the way others in the taskforce are taking issue is very bad .. this is a serious matter and some are not putting seriousness on it... you are asking people to get off the road and you are laughing, remember you are not talking to your age mate so are good enough to be your mother or father.....and we all know in islamically is disrespect ,n it should not be ..... I I'm not sending this message to the head of the team but to those behind him...... as an actor, this is my observation in the move... so you all stay bless n have a sound movement. M.S the actor 🇬🇲🇬🇲
Paul, i love that ''lack of procedure(s).
Good advice elder
That is sad destroying the Small development that people started. The ones who will get the permit are probably people who come to impose on the people
The lady "26" minute in,she dont understand, she say that ,you can not go around and brake peoples compound,Thats Not her compound, outside her wall it belong to the goverment, whats her problem ????
Even our own school Bord 😢
Waleikum Saalam
The homes are fenced,so anything outside the fence could be off limits
Imagine someone bought a huge land and decide to leave some part of the land to decorate the entrance of their house and these taskforces come and demolish it without even asking whether they bought that part of the land or not. That'd be breaking the law as well since the person already bought it and decided to decorate the entrance and they just come and ruin it without even asking. Their project makes no sense sometimes, I understand the vendors on the streets and so on but houses and trees including build boards??? c'mon if they demolish them how are people going to know about the school and hospital in the corner. ugh Gambia needs new laws.
I am so sorry for some commenter whom are not happy with the clear the road thing. But did you guys see what the residents did how many meters they took from their fence to the road. And again the Gambia is not as big as the other countries in Africa Gambia is the smallest in Africa. What the residents should do to make the their area look beautiful is to take less than a meter less than a meter can still look beautiful or do it inside your compound that is what they bought not the streets or the roads.
To you, the camera woman. You are talking of likes and subscribes. Do you have any conscience? Is it even respect, laughing when someone's property is destroyed? Some more mature people should be doing these kinds of jobs in the country!!
Lawlessness???
Ma'am which law are you following by building on the road and yes they didn't break your home at all. They would have entered and do so.
Gambia need s to be updated, made safe and beautiful. But it makes no sense to destroy landscape that is far from the road. That is well keep sidewalks and a like. Foolishness no plans in place 🐮💩🐮💩
If those being affected did not take out proper permits to extend their property in. Oh well!!!
This is not the way and how to operate just like that and boom doing anything anyhow seriously this is making Gambians to fell that there is no need for government in the Country because there is no change and no proof of future development that this will bring
Now counting how many Gambians are unemployed and in the process of being jobless I still do not understand what does in means
Everyone is sitting back watching this fools putting people hard earn money to waste
The physical planning guy couldn't answer the old guy's questions so he cut the conversation short and ran away. 😂
# Bro dzts was d old government,, physical planning But the new government say no to this we have new physical planning now 😅😅. Anyways thanks 👍
I understand that people r upset but why occupy a piece of land that don't own...u can't do that in Europe or America, why allow it in Africa?
We just jealous of each other
What are these folks doing
Hmm Africa
Lol Gambia has no bulldozers to break those walls down , they use weak men with hammers lol
Did she get a permit to do this restaurant and he was there for ages earn from us blie
Yea is wrong to destroy without their
Those fire trucks are driven by humans and is your responsibility to turn on your siren and watch out for pedestrians before you take off doing 100mph in those tiny roads. What you mean the trucks run fast and the runway is narrow? Ya'll responsibilities is to serve and protect.
We don't care rich or poor the country has to be clean
This is not the kind of cleaning they have to do …there are lot of things they have to work on in the Gambia instead of demobilising ..for example our healthcare system.
@@MendaCham yes that's true but as u can see now our side are wide then they will proceed to another step
Is wide but causing more hazards to the environment
9:01 Man don’t be arrogant talking to your fellow citizen.
Who's this man my Brothers do job the have to clean
seriously the guy who is in charge of this demolition with the blue striped shirt is speakiing some kind of strange english and is very unclear...does the government believe that everyone is busy reading pressreleases left and right when they are struggling to find enough money for the day ? Such nonsence . Gambia Government really have to COMMUNICATE to each and every individual who is making their living along the main roads and also to the compound owners that there will be demolition at their gates. This behaviour is so shameful.
How can you give an illiterate person this kinder job they don’t know nothing just cammasa all like that even plants 🤨
I don't know why he is complaining but by the look of it. No 1 pray for that but imagine that house was on fire Bridget won't be able to go close to the house. If there is traffic and the ambo need to pass. Wheel chair use also been force to use the mean road putting there life in danger. If you decorate infront of your house and your opposite neighbours decide to do the same. Is like claiming ownership which is wrong.
Even the fair service hmmm fila bott emmm nak
This is so backwards
Kotu areas move all the item s
This is destruction in the name of progress.
Gambia we can demolish all we want but the fact remains that we are selfish and ignorant
IT'S NOT GOOD ON THE WAY THEY ARE DOING IT,
Don’t classify them must be concerned citizens…
Ndeysan
I don’t believe it a wise idea to cut down trees and to a certain level some people keep saying they never had any form of notice others can’t read nor right for one to expect them to read a notice buh well Gambia government if they’re bringing all of these things down let them also tell us what are the plans don’t make sense to just demolish everything and not build a thing for the development of the country either as long as this demolition comes with development we are all in support of it
And what that guy says make more sense than you guys destiny people things all in the name of clearing the road
That guy at the end was very annoying and arrogant.. next time just give him a fine for disobey the government
