    This entire album is one of my favorites of the year. Every single track is amazing and I love that it's structured with the dark and angry songs first and then end with the somber songs at the end.

      I totally agree. For my money, The Pretty Reckless and Mammoth WVH had the two strongest albums of 2021. Both albums deal with loss and grief in really different but no less compelling ways.
      I've reacted to both "And So It Went" and "Only Love Can Save Me Now " from The Pretty Reckless, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on my reaction to "Only Love Can Save Me Now':

      That song and video was stunningly heartbreaking and beautiful.

      @@LikeMindedLunatics I might have seen them before but will check them out again. 25 is another great one with a stunning video (and a ton to break down analyzing) and both rock and roll heaven and harley darling are bittersweet knowing the story about the trauma she went through. Also a nice tribute to Chris in the former with the line "A garden full of sound" (it has to be, i dont think im reading to much into it). You should defintly do more TPR with Ladi if you get the time. Also, did you know that the footsteps at the start of Death by rock and roll are in fact Katos?

    Fun fact: This song was written by their guitarist Ben Phillips in 2005 while he was a member of a band "Famous". That band included 3 members (Ben - vocals, guitar; Mark - bass; Jamie - drums). Then, in 2009/2010 Ben was writing some songs with Taylor for her band and then all of them decided to work together, so they like "teammed up" and took the name "The Pretty Reckless" which was created by Taylor. All three members from "Famous" joined Taylor. Taylor had a band before but members were always leaving due to taste differences.
    You can find Bens' version of this song somewhere in vk i guess. The differences are: half step down, no solo (so Bens' song is shorter a bit) and as a result no 3rd verse. And this wasn't a full song because as Ben said, it was a demo song.

      @@LikeMindedLunatics Yeah - I've got the CD and vinyl. I always try to figure out where side a / side b breaks on new CDs. This one has 3 sides w/ 4 songs each. It's very interesting as each side has a completely different feel to it, even though the album has a distinctive flow.

      "I know it doesn't have an official video, I'd love to a see a deep-dive into My Bones."
      I know. You're the second viewer to request that one, and I love that song, too. I've kinda backed myself into a corner with the Friday Night Videos, but I may try to feature that one on a matchup or a Rockucating Ladi episode. It's a fascinating song, too.
      And what I remember Momsen saying about the track progression was that she intentionally ordered the songs so that we start with the rawest, most emotionally nihilistic song and then slowly progress to more hopeful music.
      So my two-bit psychoanalytical interpretation of the tracklist is that each song kind of represents a part of grief and depression and existential angst.

    • @bouch.2244
      @bouch.2244 2 роки тому +2

      @@LikeMindedLunatics I've seen some comments that the album is front-loaded. But I agree that there is a definite progression in sound and theme. My Bones is a great one to highlight the production of the album, too. There are so many subtle nuances of sound, like the "random" guitar bits, and shit like mimicking bird sounds one the second verse about the birds. Just fucking brilliant. Also, DXRNR is the prefect campfire album. Starts in hard, and mellows you.

    Hi, I guess you forget to mention you have done "So it went" and "Heaven knows" that also are worth watching and really an eye opener. I also heard your "Halestorm" pieces and this parent thing make her having "fun" write "Dear daughter" and Taylor write "25" and all the dark lyrics in her previous albums with few places left for optimism. Btw I appreciated the "Paranoid" reaction video as well.

    • @LikeMindedLunatics
      @LikeMindedLunatics  2 роки тому +1

      I didn't exactly forget. I included the "And So It Went" link in the middle of this one, but when Ladi and I record we usually do five or six episodes back-to-back, and I'm usually moving as fast as I can so I can optimize the time we have.
      Long way of saying, yeah, I kinda forgot about the other ones.
      Thank you for point that out! I appreciate it.
      And after we shot this one, I kind of decided that at some point I'm going to tackle "Rock and Roll Heaven" and "Harley Darling," the two tracks that close that album. In the interviews I've seen and read with Taylor, she says the album itself is really a progression of her feelings with the first tracks representing her at her rawest and most damaged and the end tracks ending with her coming to terms with grief. So at some point I'm going to dive into those two tracks as well. Only seems fair.
      Thanks for watching! I'm so glad you've stuck with us.

    • @poululrikknudsen5288
      @poululrikknudsen5288 2 роки тому +2

      Hi,
      The two tracks you mention are more or less the only ones that I believe I understand straight forward🤔, I really appreciate when you use your skills to interprete lyrics or video's to open our minds it seems that Taylor both want to entertain and make you think, fx "My bones" I feel a bit uncertain if she "openly" argue to end your life can be the right solution?

    • @LikeMindedLunatics
      @LikeMindedLunatics  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you for the kind compliment! I'm so glad you're enjoying our content.
      I haven't actually read anything from Taylor specifically about "My Bones," but my understanding of that album is that the first track, which is "Death By Rock and Roll" starts off really dark and depressing, and as the tracks progress, they move through the pain and grief Taylor and the band were going through as they dealt with the deaths of Chris Cornell and Kato Khandwala.
      So, to answer your question, I don't think anything on the album is meant to be taken literally. I think the songs and videos are representations of the pain and the grief and the uncertainty about the world the band and Taylor was feeling.
      In "My Bones," the first person in the song, the "I" and "My" is clearly deeply depressed and world-weary, and it does seem like the song ends when that "I" person decides to do something drastic at the end. The most likely answer is suicide, but even that's unclear.
      But I'd hesitate to say the "I" is how Taylor felt. I think it's more likely that the song represents a way of trying to deal with the emotions of losing someone you truly love to suicide by putting yourself in that person's shoes. So in my head, the song is a way of trying to understand how someone might feel as they make that decision to take their own life.
      But again, that's just my interpretation of it. I could be totally wrong.
      I do know that Taylor has said the tracks on the album were very specifically put in that order so that the first tracks are the darkest and most depressing and we end with one of the most hopeful ones. She's said that in several interviews.
      Thanks for commenting! I hope that helps. Again, I could be totally wrong. That's the beauty of music like this. There are so many ways to interpret it.

    • @LikeMindedLunatics
      @LikeMindedLunatics  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely! If I had a vote on that, I'd cast it for this album without hesitation.
      And Ladi and I recently did an entire video where we reacted to the album as a singular piece of art. I'm still editing it, but when we release that let me know what you think. It's the first time we've tried something like this, but I feel strongly this album is best experienced as a journey through processing grief and depression, so we gave it a shot. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on it.

    Wow…evidently you haven’t listened to Falling in Reverse’s Popular Monster. I’ve never had a song describing my mental state so correctly. Now you’re gonna say FIR? Emo music? 🤢 He’s evolved over the last 10 years. He’s put out 4 videos in the last 2 years that are changing the game!! I suggest you give it a shot. 2 are original and 2 are remakes. The remakes are genius in of themselves. Popular Monster and Zombified are original and will blow your mind! People ask what genre they are. The only answer is …Ronnie Radke is the genre. Because nobody can do what he does.
