Tzeentch is notable for actually having one of the biggest "pet the dog" moments in 40k. That being he thought Ahriman did such a good job being his favorite champion Tzeentch wanted to gift him with "oblivion." Basically wipe his soul from existence. Tzeentch is the example of "I have all the cheat codes and OP items in my basement but would it be fun if any of them handed to someone or if I use it myself? I think not." He is a game master of this cruel universe.
Note that the Genie screwing you over isn't in the original legends of the djinn. Often it was misunderstandings or the genie being unable to fulfill your request. Being punished for greed a la monkey's paw is more recent mythology.
Not possible. There are meanings to words that you won't consider or turns of phrase that are completely natural to you but would hit different to an outsider. A fully explained wish that has no wiggle room would read like a legal document.
I was told that genies misinterpret wishes on purpose because they don't want to grant them: they are trapped in objects and slaves to whoever find those, they are understandably mad about it. I don't know where this story comes from, but i like it because it makes sense in a very human way, the genie has feeling and desires too
25:14 This reminds me of Galactus. Thor essentially described him as a force of nature so primeval and undeniable, and simultaneously unknowable that he appears as a version of whatever species is viewing him. The fact that he's always been a gigantic humanoid comes from the fact that it's the human audience that's seeing him.

Just as they were talking about Tzeentch’s connections to Egyptian culture I got a notification for a video titled something like “Why the Ancient Egyptians went Extinct” I feel like the Changer of Ways is up to something here…
When I saw the title, my brain immediately started to play the Vsauce theme and began imagining a video of the indecisive mollusk trying to convince us chaos both is and is not evil and how the parodox makes perfect sense.
Interesting thing about Tzeentch is that though Khorne is said to be the one who was the first to manifest out of the four, his sacred number is '8' while Tzeentch's sacred number is '9,' suggesting that, somehow, Tzeentch has some sort of seniority over them.
I did read somewhere that the current Tzeentch is actually the _second_ version of the god, with the first being an ultra-powerful and fundamentally different version that was only destroyed when the other Chaos Gods teamed up against it...
@@isuckatusernames4297 Same. Khorne may have been the first to awaken in any meaningful sense, but Tzeentch and Nurgle represent concepts fundamental to the universe and life itself before the advent of sentience, rage, and bloodlust.

Has this actually been confirmed recently? Last time I looked it up the only connection was they had a higher than usual Psykers. That sounds like a strong connection, but wouldnt that mean you’d have a ton of lower level psykers in their ranks? Also i kinda remember a book showing TSons turning into dust retroactively because of time travel shenanigans. Which means low-non psykers being rubrik marines.
I could imagine Tzeench being the most powerful of the Chaos God's since change is always happening with the other Gods. Tzeench: Hey Khorne what are you doing? Khorne: Oh I'm just adding more skulls to my throne. Tzeench: Guess you could say your throne is...changing? Khorne: Fuck you Tzeench!
The problem is that Tzeentch doesn't have full control over his sphere of influence, or himself for that matter. He can't enforce stagnancy and order on to his work as it runs contrary to his nature, so inevitably things slip out of his grasp and go against his intentions, including himself, as his machinations run contrary to one another. For Tzeentch, the 1st perfect plan is inconsequential to the 2nd, and that 2nd plan inconsequential to the 3rd, which is in itself invalidated by the 1st; Tzeentch can't help but change his mind constantly, and the fact he is an omniscient being that perceives time in a non-linear fashion complicates things IMMENSELY because his past, present, and future selves are planning around one another just as much as the other Chaos Gods and the Emperor.
The Flamers produce flames with completly random effects too! It can burn to a crisp, change you completly to something else, be a little refreshing breeze or even a healing fire😊
Let's have some extra lore, for more wisdom appeases the great changer! To make it through the great crystal mazes and endless Labyrinth of Tzeentch, a person has to travel through 9 gates. Each gate will have a mouth above it, the "guardian of the maze". The entity is unknown truly and will at every gate ask the traveller one of the 999 riddles of Tzaratxoth. Those who answer correct will pass through, those who do not will wander the maze forever Only once has anyone ever correctly answered and passed through all 9 gates. Many of the stories of this person show them to be a young girl, with a small black dog
My new head cannon is that depending on how nice his breakfast was Like he had a really nice bacon sandwich on a weekend so a random mortal gets like immense psyker powers and near or no downsides and gets out alive While if TZEENCH had like 6 grapes for breakfast he just tortures and moulds mortals that enter into fucking clay pots
An important bit of Tzeench lore is that it used to be the strongest chaos god, but the other chaos gods came together to defeat Tzzench and instead of being defeated it shattered it's crystal staff in surrender, losing a lot of power. The shards of the staff supposedly spread across the universe and that was the birth of sorcery.
I think all of the chaos gods are inspired by lovecraftian or mythological gods to some extend. Tzeentch seems very similar to Nyarlothep but leaning slightly more towards a loki-style trickster vibe. Nurgle and a lot of his followers give me Major Tsathoggua from lovecraft vibes mixed with some Nergal from mesopotamian religion, who was a god of plague and pestilence also. Khorne is pretty much just straight up Ares with some inspiration from the Christian devil Slanesh seems like a mix of Hedona, Algea and Da Ji. She's kind of a classical demon succubus but instead of being a minor demon she's an entire ass god

I know that y'all aren't as into Age of Sigmar but I do want to bring up the Silver Towers of Tzeentch. They are run by nine of Tzeentch's Gaunt Summoners who are these powerful mages, they basically exist as dungeons and challenge points to entertain Tzeentch by luring adventurers in with promises of treasure and rewards, and often not fulfilling their promises. The Silver towers can travel between the Mortal Realms of AOS with little Rhyme or Reason, being in the Realm of Fire one day, only to be in the Realm of Beasts the next. They're kind of a trippy microcosm of Tzeentch's realm without being in the realm of Chaos.

Tzeentch is notable for actually having one of the biggest "pet the dog" moments in 40k. That being he thought Ahriman did such a good job being his favorite champion Tzeentch wanted to gift him with "oblivion." Basically wipe his soul from existence.
Considering every other Chaos follower is destined to an eternity of damnation and suffering with their souls being devoured by daemons. It was probably the kindest thing a Chaos god could "gift" someone. His court of Daemons were completely shocked. Though he did reconsider later on.
Oblivion even better then daemon hood, since you die has you are, no warp fuckery, no personality change, you are who you are.

Note that the Genie screwing you over isn't in the original legends of the djinn. Often it was misunderstandings or the genie being unable to fulfill your request. Being punished for greed a la monkey's paw is more recent mythology.
That's why you be as specific as humanly possible when making a wish!

This reminds me of Galactus. Thor essentially described him as a force of nature so primeval and undeniable, and simultaneously unknowable that he appears as a version of whatever species is viewing him.
I think the concept of change has existed longer than the concept of violence

@@isuckatusernames4297 Same. Khorne may have been the first to awaken in any meaningful sense, but Tzeentch and Nurgle represent concepts fundamental to the universe and life itself before the advent of sentience, rage, and bloodlust.

Those who answer correct will pass through, those who do not will wander the maze forever
Only once has anyone ever correctly answered and passed through all 9 gates. Many of the stories of this person show them to be a young girl, with a small black dog
tzeentch is canonically the wizard of oz
What the dog doin tho
Bricky: "I didn't need to know that Adeptus Ridiculus R34 existed"
Tzeentch: "Hello"
My new head cannon is that depending on how nice his breakfast was
Like he had a really nice bacon sandwich on a weekend so a random mortal gets like immense psyker powers and near or no downsides and gets out alive
While if TZEENCH had like 6 grapes for breakfast he just tortures and moulds mortals that enter into fucking clay pots
Tzeentch is best described as trying to draw a music player background

An important bit of Tzeench lore is that it used to be the strongest chaos god, but the other chaos gods came together to defeat Tzzench and instead of being defeated it shattered it's crystal staff in surrender, losing a lot of power. The shards of the staff supposedly spread across the universe and that was the birth of sorcery.
Bricky: "...a crawling mass of flesh"
Shy: *picture of your mother*
Give Shy a medal!
Nyarlethotep seems like the inspiration for Tzeentch.
Khorne is pretty much just straight up Ares with some inspiration from the Christian devil
Slanesh seems like a mix of Hedona, Algea and Da Ji.

Highly recommend the Ahriman omnibus for really cool Tzeentch stuff. Lots of weird warp fuckery and the Changeling is actually scary in it.

Love Tzeentch, favourite chaos God
His sacred number is my favourite, I love magic and the idea of using trickery to win instead of strength and most of this before even really hearing of him
