Another great video, Stu, thank you. I love how you tell us to relax into the chords. It's something I am striving for and struggling with. You're a great teacher!
Thanks Mia...it's become a habit keep checking in w my thumb, arm, mind steam...moment by moment..."smile, release". Miss our outings to the comedy club! :D
Every time we interrupt the tension & take a sec to loosen up, we break the habit a little more. Don;t get me wrong - effort is needed, just lighten up that thumb & the fingers will follow. Play on!
A big thank you, very interesting, usefull and well teached (as always with you Stu'). I share all of the others good commentaries... Thank you very much again for all you share !
I am trying Isreal Kamakawiwiole's White Sandy Beach and part of the progression is F Bb Bm F. Going Bb to Bm is a struggle using a bar chord makes that Ok but I am not getting a clear sound and then to and from F is harder.
??? Cover Request??? Hi Stu! As always, thanks for the valuable instruction. I haven't had the True Bb Breakthrough yet. Close! I'm working on 'Peace, Perfect Peace' by Toots and The Maytals. F, Bb, Dm, C. I'd love to see what you would do with this song. Thanks! ~Mary
It's a very common way but not the only way! I'll share more in the future. "Direct insertion of the Dominant 7th (V chord)" is what this is (in textbook music theory terms). The new key begins AT THE V chord...like a big finger pointing from he sky saying: "HEY - it's coming!" :-)
Hi, i start playing ukulele 2021. You are a great teacher. Love all of you Videos. I would like to learn a nice song from Frank Zappa. Maybe not Bobby Brown. Thank you...
My first finger won't flatten (slightly arthritic) so I can only make Bb using 4-3-1-2. I am working on increasing strength of 1st finger and keeping 2nd and 3rd fingers in position, but they are also arthritic. Any other suggestions?
I love that your so caring and would share your talent and teach people for free you are a great role model
YOU'RE very caring for saying so! Hope music is making your day great :-)
.... what a beautiful piece of you so easily depicted. great learning. thanks again ....
Thanks!
You're a great teacher! Thanks for the wonderful lesson!
Thanks for being here :) Go slow (in your practice)...and you'll get there with ease.

Thanks for sticking around. My old videos were...well, my early videos. Hard to fit it all in less than 10 min!

I’m practicing that ‘soft hand’, or trying to...

Will there be a TAB for you solo of Jamaica Farewell. I like this one better than your previous video in C. Really good video.
As a matter of fact, yes! Working on a new book of chord solos. It'll be smaller & cheer too w better diagrams to play with :-)

For changing keys during a song, will the V chord of the new key always be the transition?
