Thanks for watching!
the hip problem is most likely because people didn't shove it in 100%... there's a tiny lock at the end of the peg that's slightly bigger than the hole to the leg making it tight enough to actually stress out the plastic... at least from what i felt when i first assembled
Wait so should I shove it in completely or not ?
@@UnlimitedStratos177 Yes u should
Is this legit? Will this prevent the struggle of it?
I'm an old UC-only kind of fan, but man this kit looks amazing.
I stopped building Gunpla in 2015, started in 2011, so I missed this kit. I have the original MG Freedom... and HOLY CRAP. This absolutely blows that kit out the water. The proportion changes are so clean and stylized, the original had a huge head and very chunky legs
12:43 freedom is struggling!!
kitjai888 my mom when my dad left:
@@anus6896 bruh 💀
Man that pose you put it in at around 19:00 is amazing. Prolly gonna get this kit one day
Update?
@@notarxw Lol alas I went for the HGCE Freedom instead, MGs are a bit much
@@BlueNavigationUnit nice.
Mine's coming next week and I'm so excited for this gunpla! And the Freedom is my favorite. Because it's design of not killing.
Oh it’s designed to straight catch bodies. It’s just kira decides not to.
Oh! I bet those pegs on the bottom of the feet were designed more for the future Justice, instead of this kit, so you can display it riding its 'Wave Rider?' if you so desired
ah~ very clever.
Had no idea MindFenix was based in Australia, this makes me so happy! Can't wait to get this kit.
Buy it from them if you live in Australia ^^
Definitely will be
Hey ZakuAurelius. Watching your OOB reviews and tutorials really got me into building gunpla again! I don't really prefer painting MGs unless it's for a custom colour scheme, but would you still recommend top coating (especially the white parts) prior to panel lining? I've had experiences where I panel lined white pieces without coating and the clean up with thinner basically smudged it into the white plastic pretty much ruining my build. Thanks!
And now I wait for the inevitable MG Strike Freedom 2.0
But jesus christ bandai, please please those hands >:(
+LatencyProblem Still waits for a MG Justice Gundam.
+Thomas Tiger yup thats what I really want since I have this and infinite justice but now I need justice mg pls bandia
Mg justice announced.
"inevitable"
how many years have passed.
well, i believe if u sand the peg a bit before snapfitting will solved the issue.. i've done it for my MG sinanju's torso joint, it work well for me..
Which peg? Peg that connects to the leg?
@@xhirox4439 yes
I think this might be one of the only Master Grades i ever get. It's gonna be an awesome display piece.
Just ordered this guy, thanks for the heads up on the legs, 1 tip I heard is to shave down the pegs so it isn’t so tightly connected.
Great review! Thanks! Ordering this right now, looks amazing.
Thanks! Glad the review was helpful!
I say Bandai should use ABS on inner frame parts or crucial areas on the inner frame.
Hmm yeah, those hip pegs would have been safer!
that's a good idea
Rhaymond Munsayac, agreed. ABS has the flexibility you need for parts that have to take some stress.
I lost it at "This robot engine"
Whoever gets this kit, they sell metal replacement parts for the hips. Just get those and use them instead of J4.
At least it doesn't have random Italian on it like in the anime.
I have this, and compare to the mg 00 qanta that i also own, i have to say that this kit feels far more sturdy than the 00. More details too. Love it.
I bought this for 45$, sold it because of financial needs, and got it again for 41$. Really happy I got it back now lol
I too am not a big SEED fan, but i must say based on your review, it is a great kit... it kinda reminds me of the Jesta leg/knee joint with those extending arm/elbow joint... the side and back skirts mechanisms are also nice and looks innovative... and nice pointing out that "looks-like-hidden" handle on the beam rifle...but i'm still very worried about that leg peg...
great review Zack... it might still take me months or so in convincing me to buy this, but you sure helped shave some of those off... hahaha
Great! Glad to help!
Thanks for this review Zaku Aurelius as im going to buy MG Freedom 2.0 this month
I love this review
I love this kit and so excited
I'm excited to solve the issue too ,the J4 ,if it breaks I'll make it metal supported inside :)
More Gunpla build and review ^o^v
I hate some people always said "This kit is impossible to stand, you need an action base" thing while 90% of the time mine it is completely fine standing without any support.
I'm building this kit currently, still need to build one side of the wing unit. Posing with it is fun, as for the hip joint I sanded down a bit on the joint and it's perfectly fine~ Didn't plan to do panel lining on the white armor because I thing the detail on the kit is a little bit too much for me.
And I wish we'll see the MG Justice gundam in the future...C'mon, its already more than 10 years since we got the MG Freedom 1.0 and still no MG Justice gundam......
My Ex-S is impossible to stand, seriously.
That is an exception, that's why I said 90% :P
true true :P
How does the version 2.0 compare to the other master grades?
It's brand new, so it's incorporating the latest technology. That being said, of course there are older MG kits that are super solid.
standing up on it's own with that backpack??! i thought only my metal build destiny could do that. awesome!
Pretty amazing, eh!
since started to rebuild gunpla,i've made it my intentions to collect all mg & fm kits since it was my 1st gundam anime 🙂
I just snapped mine together and it looks awesome. Had to watch vid while I built it.
The "peg" you talk about is the J4 part of the kit. It's the same problem with daban version of bootleg. I have one and definitely the J4 part is a little bit loose and I think is easy to break.. I am planning to make a custom one made of brass or copper rods and tubes..
Please please please do an unboxing and a review for the upcoming MG FA-78 Full Armor Gundam Thunderbolt Ver.
I most certainly will!
I finally got around to building this and i have to say that I'm terrified every time I move something. The softer frame really worries me and makes miss the sturdiness of ABS. Even though ABS didn't take well to some paints, it was a trade-off I thought was reasonable
Its beautiful.... Bandai must really make a PG version of the Freedom....as more fans of the Seed series love the Freedom more than the Strike Freedom...which can be very annoying with all its 'dragoons'..... Freedom is more sleek....
I really don't mind getting 2.0 kits, since some old kits don't received proper treatment. I just hope Bandai keeps improving on quality and receive our appeals to get better and better.
Thanks for the review, Zach!
Yeah... destiny
Was wondering if I should get a Strike, a Freedom or a Strike Freedom. This pretty much answers it.
Just a tip to those whose still on the fence about getting this due to the hip joint, there's metal hip joint replacements available. I just bought mine, still waiting for it to arrive.
Whera can you buy that?
The connections from the shoulder to the bicep looks very similar to the HG setup (my HG kits arms broke at that peg) are those pegs fragile? If so are there any ways to strengthen them or replace them.
quality analysis. can you point me to any videos on top coating? just baught Mr clear coat mat finish but not exactly sure how to apply it.
Spray can is pretty straight forward, don't spray too close. you wanna be about 1 foot away (or 20-30 cm), and spray in bursts. be careful not to spray too much that the topcoat starts to pool and drip- then you're screwed! I did a very simple video on that in my "Gunpla Building" series.
Turn A has those type of vents. :P
And I actually do really like that sorta molded writing on the plastic. The astray kits have them too I believe. It's fun to panel line them! And some military gear/vehicles do have that sort of stamped labeling on them so it is realistic!
Ah yes, but the Turn A's vents are different. This technique some modelers do is stacking layers of plaplate of two different sizes then filing them to be uniform to create vents as seen on this kit. The Turn A's vents aren't all lined up equally in that way.
i can confirm the hole drilling for the rifle scope... i have that on my Freedom 2.0 with 2mm drill drilled from the inside because it has an indentation of the same diameter like it's really asking for it.... you can never tell it's even there
Should sanding the peg on the hip joints work and make it easier to move? I feel like that's the reason why most or SOME say that the hip joints break easy due to the fact that the peg is too tight.
I own the OG MG Freedom.. do you think this is worth getting if you own the OG?
Absolutely, it's a big improvement
Finally built this and was so looking forward to it because people dubbed it the best MG kit. But after my leg connection broke I was disappointed. I personally feel the Aile Strike Ver.RM is the best MG kit so far in terms of build quality.
yeah its not good tbh. I'm glad I gave it a hard pass
The Turn A model has those vents on the back of the legs as well.
yes, but the Turn A's vents are different. This technique some modelers do is stacking layers of plaplate of two different sizes then filing them to be uniform to create vents as seen on this kit. The Turn A's vents aren't all lined up equally in that way.
astonishing design!! Can't wait PG Freedom any more!!
The legs on my kit are to loose at the waste en keep falling down but Im gonna put some clear coat on it and hope I can pose the legs how I want them
thanks for the heads-up on waist joint
I got mine for my birthday but upon hearing about the joint pegs that can break, I'm worried about it breaking when I want to start snap build my Freedom Gundam.
Don't worry~ just don't over-handle it.
ZakuAurelius okay
hey @zakuaurelius did you top coat this kit? and would you recommend top coating it? (if so, with matte finish or gloss? or semi?)
Great looking kit. Thanks for the review!
You're welcome!
I am never Seed fans but this MG is awesome
Right?!
I've got this kit and it's just plain awesome
actually freedom gundam's wings should be rest facing backwards, not sideways like strike freedom.
-_- ...okayyyy~
wipi 8055 it’s not like that if you read the manual, u can see it’s like strike freedom I doubt u even have it.
I own this kit, I can't say i have had problems when the hips then again i have only re positioned the kit twice. What i will say is the arms and head lack an inner frame and the kit is really light weighted. The kit is extremely stiff to the point where i have to pivot each and every joint 1 at a time on the feet to get it back into a standing position every time from aerial. What i can say is the kit is dead sexy and very poseable. Amazing kit 9/10.
What is your method of removing the nubs ?
?????? Not sure if troll or doesn't know google. A hobby knife or just any sharp blade, X-Acto knife is common maybe you have one lying about. I don't paint or do any custom work other then panel lining and decals so i dont mess with sanding it since i don't paint. I normally just do my best with the blade. I'm pretty novice-amateur at gunpla. I have done 4 MG, some HG and NG so advice isn't the best from me.
Alright settle down there. To be fair your question of how he removes nubs was kind of out of nowhere. And yes, it is a very basic question- to which you can find a lot of information about on UA-cam and other sites. Maybe next time just let the person know straight away that you're new and just looking for some personal tips ^^
ZA I need a reply! As iconic as the Freedom 2.0 is, I need your opinion on how it fares in comparison to the most recent gunplas (Unicorn MGEX, NU Gundam and Sazabi RG, Dynames MG etc.) , especially those that you place in the Gundarium tier. Retrospective sentiments aside, how is the Freedom 2.0 REALLY compared to the best gunplas today?
Zach isn’t mechagaikotsu, but I’d say it would be a 4/5 today
Freedom 2.0 at release would have been considered to be Gundarium tier but with recent releases it might have been downgraded to Platinum, it’s an excellent kit but recent releases are on par or even better than the freedom
I order mine and looking forward to build it but after hearing the hip issue I'm a little worried.
FIRST Master Grade to entirely use PS plastic, without any sign of PE, PP, & ABS Plastic.
But care must be taken while assembling the waist joints thou.
Nice review zach!!! I've got mine ready to be built up!! And im soo hyped for the next MG
Yeah me too! Probably my most anticipated kit of this year (that and the P-Bandai Efreet Schneid!)
this thing is astonishingly amazing
Do you have any tips on how to replicate missing parts? I lost one red nozzle tip on the hip beam cannon
i love this kit design, its just cool.
Hi Zack,
How is the actual stiffness of the whole kit since it has no polycaps?
Thanks,
Stiff! But not dangerously so~ stiff in a good way.
looking at you working that leg, i thought it would break at every movement
Yo guys, if you guys have this kit, do the ankle movement up and down have the clicking sound? Is it normal?
aile strike is my preference... thought this one is more solid than aile strike
10:23 that snapping sound almost gave me a heart attack. Does it really do that?
yes that is tight.. just sand it a little...
Love or hate seed but the designs of the Gundams look good
I think the hip joint thing isn't super bad, since you'll only be touching it seldomly once it's displayed and posed up.
The hip joints are the worst. Broke one of the hip pegs while disassembling my MG Justice to reattach the armor and then top coat. Just the freakin worst. I order a pair of metal J4 parts to replace them because while the glue has worked okay while I have it attached to the Fatoom as a backpack, I want to pose it riding the Fatoom and I just don't try the piece to hold up to anything more than holding the leg's own weight.
Sir Erdrick where did you order your j4 parts? I also need a pair for my freedom 2.0...both legs have been broken...
These are the ones I ordered because it was a 2 pack www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-Metal-parts-J4-for-Freedom-Justice-Providence-2-0-MG-1-100-Gundam-Seed/322360386839?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 but if expediency is an issue you can pay more and get 2 of these www.ebay.com/itm/Metal-parts-J4-for-Freedom-Justice-Providence-2-0-MG-1-100-Gundam-Seed/232656135128?epid=8005148804&hash=item362b62e3d8:g:~cgAAOSwR2RaCplS the second one is only 1 per purchase, and costs far more, but they are coming from California instead of China. The ones I ordered took nearly 2 weeks before a shipping label was created and they have been listed as preparing for shipment for 4 days now.
When I order stuff from Japan or Hong Kong and USPS international sorting center accounts for 90% of the delay. When I order stuff from China or Taiwan the delay is ALWAYS before they even cross a sea.
Thanks for the reply sir..
Do they ship in the Philippines?
No idea, I'm in the states. For the Philippines, the ones from China would probably be faster for you.
I've had trouble making it stand with the wings swept back more so than 1.0
I lost one of the beam sabers. Can someone help me replace it? Like is there a way to get a replacement for that specific of a part?
The problem I have with mines is the front vents are super loose, they don't click in at all.
Great review! Im still waiting for my pre-order of this kit, but im really worried about the tigh peg that it might break off.
did you get your freedom also how are the legs im really nervous
just add some top coating
Is it possible to paint this kit (or any MG) after having put it together?
of course. that's how me (and many others) always do it. putting the kit together first allows you to get a better understanding of how it goes together. Then you're better prepared to paint.
Cool thx! Now I can finally start building
The toes were a little too loose on mine.
I am torn between getting this or the Strike + I.W.S.P.
I know many people HATE Seed. I don't care at all about the show, but two things on it ARE cool, the Gundams and the songs. After seen this, I'm hopefull. Because good LORD the MG for this shows are awlful. At least the main ones. The Providence looks good, and so does the Infinite Justice, but the two leads have NOTHING, the Destiny, and the Freedom and Strike Freedom MG suck. I think a new MG for the Justice was anounced, but I still want a Strike Freedom and Destiny MG that looks amazing. You know we need it when the danm Real Grade looks better then the Master Grade.
Jonatas Silva Are Aegis,Buster,Duel and Blitz good mgs??
Do you perfer the 2.0 version or the 1.0 version
Shana Amv Nightcore definitely 2.0
Thank you
Holding the double beam sabers liek that really reminds me of darth maul.
Hmm, that gives me ideas for poses I should have looked into. I'll have to keep that in mind for any similar kit in the future!
Alright up next is MG FA-78 Thundebolt version ver Ka!!!
Damn I am torned between this one and MG Exia ignition mode, which one should I pick?
Get the mg exia standard do not get ignition mode it’s garbage the standard is better and get freedom first
@@anus6896 dude you replied to my already 4yo comment lol. How is the standard better than ignition mode though? Aren’t they essentially the exact same kit but with LED in the ignition mode?
You can't go wrong with Freedom.
im torn between this kit and the providence gundam
Wow I like the mg and hg I brought 2 feeling so excited I like the design so much. Thanks for the review even know I'm late.
As a starter, should i go for RG or MG
Mg
@@ZakuAurelius one more, strike freedom or freedom. which one do u prefer?
If I'm painting it what color should I paint it?
Yellow and red!
is freedom v2 include with action base?
Yes but a very bad one as in they can't move around like the Action Bases.
Anyone know how to separate those parts that needs a 180 degrees spin or turn please i need help
vents and hips are straight from hyaku shiki 2.0
The inner mechanics of this are a great step up but design wise I’m kinda eh on the more aggressive look. I like the aesthetics on the original one better just cause I like the smoother lines over these sharp extra accents. The cannons on this also look a bit excessive for an already excessive Gundam. In my opinion the best in between was the real grade since it had the detail up but the silhouette of the original design. Comes down to personal preference as always lol
it's so beautiful
I'm kind of torn on if I should get this kit. I like the looks except the shoulder cannons. I think they look kind of stupid. especially opened up. that plus the fact that the black on the wings does not seperate from the blue like it is suppose to. I like everything else. Hmmmm
Personally I'm considering options to replace the wings on the backpack entirely.
this is an amazing kit
So, I'm somehow bothered by the size of the V-Fin; not something I usually say. The white one seems oversized for the head which is already a bit big for the suit. Definitely agreed on the shoulders, the end resolves itself poorly.
Still not a fan of the cannons. The extension just looks silly to me, and opening them op to vent is just no. Besides, why bother having the targetting lenses on the cannons if they're going to be obstructed by the vents in full-burst mode?
The rest of the body, however, is just superb.
Agreed!
Anyone here know the measurements of this kit? I was wondering if it would fit in my shelf
Didn't the turn a have vents on the legs?
yes, but the Turn A's vents are different. This technique some modelers do is stacking layers of plaplate of two different sizes then filing them to be uniform to create vents as seen on this kit. The Turn A's vents aren't all lined up equally in that way.
This kit beat the old v1
What action base is this?
It’s a standard action base that bandai sometimes includes with the kits, if you want a good base for a MG try getting the Action Base 1 or 4 from bandai
I have yet to build this model kit!!!!! Whyyyyyyy
I dislike most of kits from Gundam Seed except Providence gundam. But man, this 2.0 version makes me to buy it. And definitely yes.
Give justice 2.0 love
I just bought this and an HGUC Gouf. And i think im still too early to do an MG .. maybe i shud buy more MG's instead haha so scared of messing it up
Don't be scared! What's the worst that could happen?
Oh i meant i should do more HG not MG My bad ... But i guess you;re right. Whats the worst that could happen right !
My first gunpla was a mg and it ended up pretty badly since i used scissors to take parts of the runners
Use silicone wd40 on hips if they’re too tight. I just bought this kit of mine are too tight that’s what I’m gonna do
What's the big deal about having the model number embossed onto the kit instead of using a decal? You said something about this in the Justice review as well..Lol you said a decal is more realistic, where in reality are identification numbers used as decals instead of being permanently etched into the metal? I think when they build an aircraft frame they don't apply a decal, the identification is etched into the frame. I am baffled why you have such a problem with this awesome feature.
I hope we get a Force Impulse 2.0.
