Exploring Abandoned Car Forest OUTSIDE Las Vegas

In this episode we'll be checking out an abandoned car forest just outside Las Vegas!
Located in Goldfield, Nevada (2 hours 45 mins) North of Las Vegas. This Car Forest (International Car Forest of the Last Church) is still slowly deteriorating beneath the gloomy sky of the rural desert, with sunny, dry days coming and going throughout the year.
A Goldfield resident named Mark Rippie had the idea for the project, which took nine years to complete (2002-2011).
He wanted to challenge Nebraska's Car Henge and Texas' Cadillac Ranch monuments by becoming the person with the most vehicles packed into the ground and enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
Artist Chad Sorg of Reno, Nevada, who met Rippie while traveling through Goldfield and got fascinated in the project, joined him. Sorg moved to Goldfield in order to help build the "forest."
