Man Ejected From Boat! (Crazy!!!)

  • Just a few minutes after this yesterday’ take-off at Table Rock Lake, Skeet Reese witnessed an accident. Jeff, a local angler, was running just ahead of me when he hit a wake and lost control of his boat. Jeff was ejected, but thankfully he was wearing a life jacket and did not get seriously hurt other than some bumps and bruises. Also, his engine kill switch was attached, so ALWAYS wear your PFD and fasten that kill switch EVERY TIME. This could have been a real tragedy.
Thanks to all the other Bass Pro Tour Anglers that stopped to help out!
Thanks for watching. If you enjoyed leave a 👍

This is the huge difference between driving on the road and boating. You’ll be passed by 100 cars before someone stops to help when you’re broke down...However, when I’m on my boat and the engine takes a dive on me, maybe 3-5 boats pass before someone stops to help.
On the water, it’s mostly a circle of helpful people and when I see someone down, I stop to help, and others help me and I’m glad it works that way.
Thank you for being one of those guys for this poor man when he needed a helping hand himself.

Distress is a broad term for boats imo.
It can go from a simple breakdown in a place like the st.Johns river, all the way to a scenario like this or out on the open ocean sinking.
It’s a hard law to enforce and I guess that’s why there are business like “Sea-Tow” around to pick up that slack, but you are correct about that though.
There’s still such a huge difference in cars and boats though...Can you imagine waving to every car that passes, like we do on the water?!

I worked at a marina one year and an elderly married couple capsized their sailboat in the middle of the lake. They were in their 80s at the time, and they were way out and if we didn't see the mast turn over and keel come up I don't know if we would have seen them... it was the movement that caught our eyes. Luckily we got in a boat and got to then. Neither one were wearing life jackets, and when I pulled the wife out she had no strength left. It was so scary pulling up on that boat and yelling for them.. they were on the opposite side trying to hang on to anything so we didn't see them at first. Keep those life jackets within reach folks, and definitely wear them if you're running like this guy was.

Glad to see that he was wearing his life jacket and kill switch. These might have saved his life. I live near the Chesapeake Bay and there are boating fatalities near my house every year. In every one that I've heard of, life jackets were not worn.
Still don't know why so much horsepower is put on small bass boats. Even in calm conditions, hitting a wake or sudden maneuvering at high speed are beyond recovery for these boats. Glare, dusk, shadows, and objects can all obscure the wakes and objects in the water. The size of bodies of water that these boats are used in do not justify the need to travel at 60 mph. The best you can do is arrive somewhere a few minutes faster than someone traveling at half that speed. In larger bodies a chop on the water makes it impossible to even use that much horsepower. If in that much of a hurry on long rivers use a boat ramp closer to where you want to fish, or just spend the extra time enjoying being there. On top of the safety issues, they cost a lot of money and use a lot of gas.

So awesome to see life jackets being worn, it absolutely sickens me to the stomach to see people out without them, they have no idea that it does not matter how well you can swim, it really doesnt, in clothes with wind and weather, you go in out there without a life jacket or actually even small lakes and rivers, you are in serious trouble or dead. I guess it is why they call them "Life" jackets Great video
