Looks like it was worth the side trip to Konya! The whirling dervishes look amazing, and to be in the presence of those 4,000 year old objects must have been pretty amazing. Thank you for this!
I was there for the whole year till August 2022. I was born in Konya at the end of 70's. They did a really good job advancing the city last 20 years also the whole country. If WW3 does not break out soon I can picture Turkiye as the new destination for The new era American dream for immigrants. If you end up in Konya I will list the places to see for you. 1-Mevalana Museum ( centrally located) 2- Kadinlar Pazari ( Women's Bazaar) 7 minute walk to the Mevlana Museum 3- Aziziye Cami ( Mosque from 1800's) 1 min walk to Kadinlar Pazari 4- Hungry yet? Sendagli ( they make a turkish style closed pizza I would name) attached to Kadinlar Pazari ask for Yag somonu. they got afew kinds but i recomment Atom ( means Nuke in Turkish LOL) you will thank me! 5- Bedesten ( Old style Bazaar where you will find anything from dresses to hardware) this place is 2 min walk to Mevlana Museum. 6- Alaeddin Tepesi ( A hill you can see right across from Mevlana Museum. Also it is a huge roundabout. 7- Kultur Park ( Culture Park) the other side of the Alaeddin Hill. 8- Haci Veiszade Mosque ( the mosque attached to the far end of Culture Park) 9- Kule Site ( A shopping mall where the round highrise is) you can take the tram at Culture Park and get off after 2 tops called Kule stop. 10- Butterfly Garden- ( mama mia santa maria ) i mean you ll love this place. you will see beautiful butterflies flying around u. inside is really humid and hot so be prepared to take off some layers. 11- 40 gunde devri alem ( around the world in 40 days) miniatures of world'd famous structures, disney characters. even Taj Mahal . 12- Science Center- I dont know why Fauci ouchi guy came up to my mind saying this lol. 13- Nenehatun Park ( 5 min to Kule where my mom lives lol) it is a nice small park where you can sit and enjoy a coffee.
Wow! That is a bunch of great tips we'll make sure to try out on our next visit. We really enjoyed Konya. What are your thoughts on our video about it?
@@KattieMetChris Thanks for the video. It was good but probably you guys did not have time to cover the city in a short time. Actually I forgot to mention a church in Sille which was built in 200's. 1800 yo. Sille is 15 min bus ride to the town centre. It has a water dam and a big park and touristic places. You can look that up. I am sorry for the bad early experience but mostly people are very friendly just like anywhere else. You guys are really good and fun. Thanks
No......dont cover the Burkenstocks. That museum was fantastic, they should leave it as is. I am not sure how the Whirling Dervishes dont get dizzy with all the spinning. I was getting dizzy watching them. Sorry about the bad cake, go find yourself a good Big Mac to make up for it.
🤣🤣 The Dervishes are seriously amazing. Definitely worth a trip there just to see them in person...but I don't imagine Big Macs and Whirling would be good bedfellows 🤣🤣
Maybe…there were a lot of locals standing around and nobody said anything to her. Definitely not our best memory of an amazing country. We still had a great time in Konya 🙏
Hey hey there I iam goreme now and heard about the dervish so I am heading there good hotel close to everything???? Please no too spensive and good hot breakfast please
The visit started a little rough but we ended up having an absolutely amazing time. So much culture and history there. We learned a ton and barely scratched the surface.
If the term "gavur" has been given to you, I wouldn't take it too seriously, the word "gavur" although being pejorative some Turks still use it to describe a christian (a greek orthodox to be precise), especially the elderly.....it's just a bad habit to which some people pay attention and some don't.
WHile we always appreciate outside perspective, Trust me when I say I did not fully describe the "fervor" or the length of the encounter. Suffice to say it was not simply a bad habit. It was hatred. Venomous, fevered hatred. And none of the locals walking by did anything. We ended up having a wonderful time in a lovely city but that does not change the facts of the encounter.

Seriously, getting to experience the Dervishes in person was a profoundly moving experience. So much incredible history in Rumi’s city
Did you take the high speed train? I heard that online booking using credi card is a bit messy.. Is it true? Planning to travel next month..
High speed train is awesome and really inexpensive. We used cash. Business class is only a couple dollars more and well worth it
Turkey is such a great place. masha'Allah!
Truly a beautiful place with so much history, wonderful food and lovely people.

If you call the police and tell them what she said I'm, pretty sure that, she is in deep trouble with the police.

If you look at Wikipedia it can mean many different things.
No its Kamil Koc.

@@KattieMetChris Sorry to hear that, I guess there're morons all over the world eager to prove their stupidity to newcomers.
Not Turkey.... Turkiye.
Respect !!! 😠
The name change was very recent, there is no lack of respect.
