but you need to get freaking redstone and pistones and its freaking lot of time to craft and what is it compare to fence and pressure plate? :3 pretty much easier to craft but im not saying that a pistone wont work so dont hate me :/

very very cool furniture. I've just been using oak slabs as tables/chairs/shelves, oak stairs for toilets...with a torch above them & beds & paintings. now I have some very cool ideas to update my dirt houses to house houses. thanks & cheers,
Wow, so many negative comments :( I just started playing Minecraft, and these are some great pieces of furniture. Maybe someone more advanced COULD make better looking pieces, but as a beginner, these tips really helped me. Loved everything! Thanks!

Agreed. OK, these aren't super-advanced concepts, but they aren't meant to be... the video is even *called* "Simple Furniture Ideas". These are quick and easy to build from basic, easily obtained in-game items (with the possible exception of Netherrack), and - whether they could be more complex or not - they do look like what they're meant to be. Speaking of Netherrack, I thought the fireplace was especially nice, but none of them looks bad at all. I use Netherrack myself in fireplaces (who doesn't?), but with iron bars around it - that's a more expensive way to do it than shown here, though, since iron ore is so comparatively rare and needed for other things like armour. If people are looking for advanced ideas for experienced players, I'd suggest not watching videos entitled *"Simple"*!! Thanks for the upload and the good ideas :)

Sorry about your luck but all you should have to do is put some slabs down (say stone or cobblestone) and it should protect your house. That is unless the roof is wood, then you will have problems.
+bmb313 Yea happened to me too. Now when I make my fireplaces, I put stone all around a 2 block radius of the fire and put Iron Bars in front so my dogs and cats don't run into the fire an die.

A better table but more expensive in survival:
Dig a hole 2 down
Put redstone torch at the bottom
Then put a piston on top of the redstone torch.

Instead of building signs you should put blocks like stone or planks it looks better in my opinion.
