First of all, congratulations on the 1 K milestone 🎉🎉🎊🎊 I have the same sensation, that our orchids (other plants too) are getting confused with the weather changes. Regarding the Catasetum, it is not unsusual for them to keep the leaves throughout the winter, getting in dormancy may not be compulsory. My Fredclarkeara did the same last year and the advantage was that it started to grow a new growth very early in the season. However, this year it dropped the leaves despite the warmer temperatures during fall. I beleive not all orchids go by the book and they want to force us to adapt to them, not the other way around 🤣🤣😍😍
The Leptotes bicolor is one of my favourites in the early spring. So fragrant early in the morning! So what you're saying is that I need a Maxillaria picta? The variabilis you sent me is in bloom right now and I really like the fresh fruity fragrance! Oh, and the Jan Orinstein you sent me has buds on it as well - about to open! 😻 I have so many more Dendrobiums on my wishlist because of you! That senile looks so cool!
you... like the smell of the variabilis? I hate it, but Jay loves it, says it smells of wallnuts. Yes, anything to pull you away from endless Cattleyas :P
You said that you want to repot your Psychopsis mariposa... Every time that I want to repot a orchid that is not like to be repoted if the media is OK I just put it in a larger pot (pot and orchid) and just fill in between. You don't disturb the roots, there is 0% set back of the orchid and the roots find their way out of the pot. I hope that this help. Thank you from Greece Athens for all your amazing videos. ❤ My question is about how you battle pests. I release every Spring ladybugs (if I don't see any from last year) in the Grow room and they eat everything. EVERYTHING 🤪 (Also I think that is good luck and sooooooooo beautifull 😍)
Enjoyed your video! Your plants made out well while you were away. A little information about where you are in the world. Country. If you live in a city or a rural area. Do you have easy access to orchids and supplies or not. Are you in any orchid groups or societies. General sort of stuff.
Ola, I like these updates and you have a very calm, nice voice. Quite frankly, I don't watch some US channels as I can't stand the 'over exited' voices. The flower spike of my Psychopsis had one flower again after more then 3 years and now it stopped, hopefully not for another several years. My Gomesa, already 3rd attempt, died in the hot summer. This time I also potted it in moss and put her in a huge glass vase but it didn't work out. I will try it one more time bc I like the grassy look of it. Cold❄here too, but below Zero, so don't complain about your +10 😬
Thank you so much! That helps, i absolutely hate the sound of my voice, and that i express myself in a more monotone way, but i too get very tired of the "children programming" type of voice. You are right, we shouldn't complain, we have pretty mild weather. the only thing is, because of that our houses have terrible isolation and when it does get chillier, we really feel it! I get insisting on the gomesa, i like the grassy look as well :)
Love the talking videos and CONGRATULATIONS on your 1000 subscribers. My question is how long have you guys been in the orchid hobby and what made you decide to create YT content. 😊❤
Great video, enjoyed it a lot 😊! Really like the amboinensis that turns green! Has it been pollinated? The m.picta is spectacular! What's the smell like?
This year a bunch of our phals did that, we suspect it was a weird side effect of the pesticide we used when they were in flower. The picta smells like Honey and spices, similar to the drink Dr. Pepper! Thank you so much for watching :)
