Patrick left GB to work for Kotaku, owned by Gawker. Gawker got sued by Hulk Hogan and lost. Claimed bankruptcy, got bought by Ziff Davis (a few hours before this stream I think?), who at one point owned GB. I could be wrong on that but that's what I have gathered through osmosis. Essentially, Patrick is right back where he started. As Jeff says after that, 'Papa Ziff wants you back, buddy!'
Actually, Patrick used to work for 1UP, which was run by Ziff Davies. This was back in like 2007-2008. Anyway, Ziff went bancrupt sometime around then and Patrick eventually found his way to GB. Don't know how Ziff was resurrected, but apparantly they still live in some form.
