I have a bird feeder that's very similar, but rather than have an unsightly hinge, the whole roof rides up the support cables, allowing access to refill.
Hi Steve I really like your channel a suggestion for a subject how about making a an aquarium stand due to the weight an aquarium can put on a cabinet stand
Just did a google search because like others who commented here... we hadn't heard from Steve for some time. He passed away In January of 2019. He will be missed. Condolences to his family and friends. He touched lives. He mattered.
Whoa... I’m still alive and kicking. Sorry for the confusion. I needed to take some time off from the videos, mainly to recharge and tend to some other priorities, but like most everyone else, the Covid thing really threw a curve into my plans. But I’ll be back, and I really appreciate all the support and kind comments.
@@downtoearthwoodworks I'm sooo sorry. I was worried, as many others seemed to be here. When I saw someone comment "RIP", I was saddened and went looking for answers. Thank you for responding so quickly... no harm was meant. Please stay well. We're all here waiting for your return.
@@downtoearthwoodworks Oh that`s wonderful. These are the best news since months in this ugly corona time. I´m so happy to read your commend. Greetings from Austria.
@@downtoearthwoodworks So good to hear. 😊 I've been checking back on occasion and thought we had lost you for sure. You're the best teacher on youtube!
@downtoearthwoodworks Thank goodness!! I have been worried also, this COVID has been a real terror!! My husband who is over 65 got both of this vaccines, I’m scheduled to start mine next week!! I can’t wait and really want to start getting out and enjoying life again. We’ve built a new work shop in our new home, the weather has slowed us a little in February, saving $$ on the heating bills. Looking to start using more of your shop builds for the new shop!!
Well done Steve. I may have to build one for the wife's enjoyment. She's been wanting to put a Bird bath in our front yard but I think this feeder would be more practical for the time being.
I wonder if I build a couple of these if it will detour the birds from looking at their selves in the rearview mirrors and constantly crapping on my truck?
@@Jeff_369 Sorry to say that that seems to be the case. Not much can be found online, but I did manage to locate this www.legacy.com/obituaries/desmoinesregister/obituary.aspx?n=steven-c-johnson&pid=191405466

Looks good! Could you also have put the hinge on the underside if you cut away a little mortise at the peak for the barrel part of the hinge?

If I could only keep the tree rats from spreading the seeds everywhere.. Thanks for a nice build though.
