I used to have my Heritage for distance and a Ducati Panagale V2 for the sportier rides. Traded both on my 2024 SG and have never looked back. The fit and finish is excellent, the comfort is delicious and the power sublime. For anyone who calls this an "old mans' machine" has never ridden distance or the twisties with a passenger. This series of SG and RG represents a major plus in the Iconic HD Brand as to its ability to provide looks, power, handling, capacity and comfort all in one spot. I am 4100 miles in and loved every single mile. Thanks HD!
Doesn’t hurt to have both!! But bagger is life for any type of road trip/distance riding.. I even like just cruising around town on them because it’s comfortable!

Yeah that's definitely a topic I want to cover at some point - I never would have thought I would enjoy running a batwing EVER, but those 5000+ miles really did reveal the true potential
The big bulky fairing is frame mounted and lighter than previous generations. It feel 100x times better to ride because there’s not added weight on the fork when riding slowly, making u-turns and backing into spots.
I had always been a die-hard fixed fairing guy until I ripped that Street Glide across the country and back, really did show me the potential of the batwing
Folks probably gonna think I'm crazy, but I just traded my 2022 Ultra Limited Apex for a 2024 Lowrider ST....I've had Road Kings as well...That UL is HEAVY...also have a TT toy hauler and getting that UL up inside was a chore and I dumped it once putting it in(no damage to the bike, just a damaged ego)....the ST feels so much more nimble and light I am looking forward to riding and having my whole foot on the ground when I stop...being 5'10 I sometimes found myself having to be on my toes at times on the UL...now to start with all the fun stuff...seat, muffler, you know the drill!!
The touring bikes are amazing. My Road King is a great daily rocket and cross country tourer all while being able to strip down to basically an FXR on steroids…. That said, after a few days in a row I’d go crazy if I couldn’t jump on my Dyna or FXR to get all the raw feedback I need from a two wheel machine. So for me - if I can have both, great! If I HAD TO PICK ONE….it’s still the FXR or Dyna to scratch EVERY itch.
The same thing happened to me. I test rode a 2024 road glide and it felt amazing. I bought it and have been riding it every day. I can commute and lane split with it, travel with it, run errands with it. It’s heavy no doubt but so is a softail based bike. It handles so well though. It feels good leaning into turns, I’m able to make u-turns and slow speed maneuvers like sharp turns from a stop sign. I’ve been converted.

It's nice to see that you have an open mind, but I already knew that after your video on the Pan America. Even after two Road Kings I tried to adapt to a Low Rider S to ride lighter and sportier and you often inspired me, but ultimately it wasn't for me, at 65 years old, comfort, ergonomics and practicality were not to my taste. I finally returned to Touring with a 2024 Road King Special, I prefer the smooth ride of the Touring chassis and the large saddlebags. As I don't like fairings I just installed a Wind Splitter windshield that I can remove at will. I am very impressed by the handling compared to my ex Road King classic 103 Rushmore and for me this RKS ticks all the boxes. I don't know if the new Road Glides and Street Glides are more maneuverable and I don't see why since they have the same chassis but I don't like their new body styles and the screen like on the cars, I prefer the older models until 2023. But it's good that you like these new Tourings. What are you going to do with your other bikes, will the Road Glide become your daily driver?

My very first bike is a 21 softtail. Sport glide. Over the last 4 years I’ve taken it on 3-4 day road trips. But man that’s about it…. After that I’m donnne. I run without a fairing and it just beats you up on the highway/interstate.
I pretty much started as a bagger bro and recently became a Dyna bro, I won’t go back and can’t go back. I look at a bagger and become sick, now would I take an older Road King and make a FXR look alike hell yeah. But to go back to the street glide or road glide would be horrible, I used to search for my black street glide when parked with a bunch of bikes because they all look a like. My heaven on earth has finally arrived with the FXDX Dyna and it’s now my only bike. Long story short, say no to geezer glides.
That's one of the main things for me as well, having an actual unique looking bike. Almost everyone I know goes for the baggers, and they all look similar. Plus to me they have a bit of a bulky feel which I don't like, the Lowrider ST is the perfect size for me

@ Hi I did, unfortunately, had problems with Thundermax tuner, could not get it to function correctly, tried 2 other brand new Thundermax units, ended up purchasing Dynojet power vision from Fuel Moto, not as aggressive and fuel consuming as Thundermax, but low end response is really been fun, overall super satisfied with work done , S&S full cam kit, full Rinehart exhaust, Reklusen complete clutch kit, Screaming Eagle heavy breather and bigger throttle body, and a J & M fan to keep it cool, Ride Hard🤘🏽Aloha, Kenneth 🤙🏽
Bro, gotta be honest. I just traded my 117 Low Rider for a 24 Road Glide and it's a game changer. So many upgrades available, it handles amazing, has better safety and tech and i don't notice any performance different if anything the Glide actually feels more nimble. I love it and won't go back.
@FXDLSBrooklyn 100% agree with your opinion on price vs a low rider ST. I got my brand new RG for under $25K with discounts, right time to buy one before 25's come in. For only $3-4K more than a Low Rider ST, it makes that platform almost obsolete.
With an open mind I went to the dealership in September. I know i wanted either a bagger or a Lowrider ST. I test rode them both. My eyes said Low Rider. My jacked back demanded the bagger. I've had Sportsters and Dyna's in the past. At almost 50 it was time to join the bagger world. No regrets!!!

the weight difference is only 4lbs from a 23 RG ST to a 24 RG ,the main advantage is the water cooling to the heads so they dont run as hot and the changes to the intake manifold an head which improve performance .given the low price of the 24 model year bikes you can do your own version of a CVO ST and still have spent less than buying the actual CVO version
Dude I was blown away with those water cooled heads this summer - I ran that bike hard through Death Valley in the middle of August, and it just coasted along with no issues - Amazing
@@FXDLSBrooklyn wow thats a real test for heat transfer i had to take the SDC gripper saddleman seat off my low rider st as heat from rear cylinder made the gel in seat so hot it burns your butt an im not exactly anywhere hot im in England !. heat not so bad on my Road Glide St (traded low rider for it ) i guess as some distance between rear cylinder an seat .wishing id gone for a 24 rather than my Fast Jonnie version

I just traded my 2021 107 powered road glide, for a 2024 low rider S. After riding the 900lb barge for 2 years straight, the Low rider seemed like a kids bike, but i felt i could handle it much better. i didnt need what the glide offered, and only got it cause my friends started buying the big bikes. Im happy with my decision. thee five gallon tank, and big twin is all i really need.
Honestly man, I have a DX with an 88'' TC in it, and it does just fine - Buddy of mine did a bike trip with me two years ago with one and had no complains

I'm a huge fan of baggers But i'm not a huge fan of my bagger being in the shop all the dann time I'm currently on my third Harley, Davidson. It has a staggering 1,400 miles on it, and it is currently in the shop. For week #2, for the 3rd time. Im so pissed at Harley Davidson right now and want out Im seriously considering the Indian Challenger OR, the GoldWing.
i am 63 and still find baggers, and ultras as grandpa bikes. yet i throw big leather bags over my bikes. the same wilson leather bags i bought for my 06 sporty, were used on my 07 custom, and now my 12 fat boy. all 3 harleys have had a passenger backrest, and windshield. i just dont like hard bags. i can make this fat bot one up in less than 2 minutes.
Not my thing. Every bagger I've driven was just "too nice"*, and slow compared to the same motor in a Dyna/Softail. I'm all mountain twisties, no Autobahn. ("Not nice like quality, nice like everyone's favorite kindergarten teacher)
What on these new baggers is different than the other years that makes them performance driven? I'm just curious man because nothing has changed but the infotainment screen and VVT. The VVT isn't making this bike some performance machine. It has the same frame and the same suspension. Is it the ride modes? 🤣
It's actually a lot more than the two things you listed - I did a video on the 2024 Road Glide back when it came out, go check it out, lists some of the reasons why it stands apart

If you do then you sound like the rest of these UA-cam guys when it comes to these bikes. That bike still needs $15k (if you can't wrench)/$8k (if you can) thrown at it to make it have respectable power and a decent suspension. I'm speaking from experience and I put 75k on one in 2 years.
If your goal was to "go fast and go far", you could have just bought a Busa and some risers. You're going to sleep in a hotel anyway. so Harley finally making a nagger that's actually ride-able on city streets is impressive? it's about to be 2025. where have they been before that? you could make a down payment on a rental property for what that piece of crap costs.

That's a really important point that I left out - Definitely felt good to not be the first one to be on empty all the time within the last bike trip
Don't count out "Older" Baggers. I will still put my 08 stage 3 cvo road king up with any new bagger for comfort or speed.
What kind of numbers did you see with that Stage 3?
@FXDLSBrooklyn I never had it dyno'd. One of the guys at my local HD dealer ( that works with dyno) seems to think 120 or so . Maybe a touch more.

i am 63 and still find baggers, and ultras as grandpa bikes. yet i throw big leather bags over my bikes.
the same wilson leather bags i bought for my 06 sporty, were used on my 07 custom, and now my 12 fat boy.
all 3 harleys have had a passenger backrest, and windshield.
i just dont like hard bags. i can make this fat bot one up in less than 2 minutes.
Yeah I ran soft bags for many years, still do on some of my bikes, mostly just for capacity purposes

Not my thing. Every bagger I've driven was just "too nice"*, and slow compared to the same motor in a Dyna/Softail. I'm all mountain twisties, no Autobahn.

That's generally how I felt until the new models dropped in 2024 - Worth a test ride at the very least

What on these new baggers is different than the other years that makes them performance driven? I'm just curious man because nothing has changed but the infotainment screen and VVT. The VVT isn't making this bike some performance machine. It has the same frame and the same suspension. Is it the ride modes? 🤣
It's actually a lot more than the two things you listed - I did a video on the 2024 Road Glide back when it came out, go check it out, lists some of the reasons why it stands apart
@@FXDLSBrooklyn Come on man. You have "performance-built bikes" right? You will still sit here and say that the new touring bike out the gate is performance oriented? If you do then you sound like the rest of these UA-cam guys when it comes to these bikes. That bike still needs $15k (if you can't wrench)/$8k (if you can) thrown at it to make it have respectable power and a decent suspension. I'm speaking from experience and I put 75k on one in 2 years.
