The wonderful thing about Philip Of Burgundy is that the dude did actually exist. I hope he is looking down and laughing with us. I grew up with this series. It is timeless
@Невада большевик Well, at the time this series is set, Philip the Handsome was duke of Burgundy, but it is very unlikely he is the one being portrayed here.
I had no idea! Both 'Tugs' and 'Blackadder'. Using my mind's ear now to remember those narrators, and it all makes sense. He had a very memorable voice!
Hah! I watched this thing as a kid, and luck would have it I had a game called AA True Soldiers. And the nickname "The Hawk" was an option. I had so much fun. I became a sniper, and after each first and last kill of every mission I'd do a bit. *Take aim* "KNOWN TO MY ENEMIES AS..... *Take the shot* THE HAWK!"
I've always thought this scene was funny. It's just so silly and the delivery of the lines is good. A lot of season 1 was hit and miss; a shame they couldn't really nail down what they wanted the type of humour to be as a whole.
@@trevorochmonek9024I can see why you think that. I think season 1 looks great and Edmund's character is funny, it's just that the humour overall is very inconsistent, whereas in seasons 2-4 the type of humour is consistent in the new format. The whole cast seems to gel more in season 2-4 as well.
I'm glad they reversed the roles for balldrick and percy vs blackadder, having one clever and two dumb works so much better than having the lead be dumb and the henchmen clever. Anyways, I love season one too, if only for the Spanish Infante's translator. Silensio!
A bit of Trivia for you: Not only did Patrick Allen play Philip of Burgundy, but he was also Captain Starr in the Children Series TUGS (a show similar to Thomas the Tank engine). He play Captain Starr in 1988-1989 (6 years after this).

Fifteen years in France teaches a man how to hate ,love it !!!

“But the scenery!”
“I never went outside…” 👿 🤣

The hawk is what his enemies call him, his friends call him the blue and white megaphone that runs a tugboat company.

Yes, married to Isabella of Portugal.
Patrick Allen's voice was brilliant.
"Well...its been very good to see you uh...Phil"
"...Thrush"
Mr. Gilbert: …Phil?! 🤨
I knew I recognised that voice! Patrick Allen narrated the kids TV show Tugs. Loved that show as a kid.
And also narrated this very series of Blackadder.

1:09 The Black Adder knew he was doomed the instant The Hawk tore off his false eyebrows. ^^

I think season 1 was the best. I know, I am alone with this opinion.

Trevor Ochmonek - I think the first season is the best, so you’re not alone. Season three is very good. Season two is way too base.

It's Captain Star!
Glad i'm not the only one who noticed. R.I.P to the legend.
Came here because of warlocks. Always wondered where the qoute in "hawk the overseer" was from. Finally found it!
Captain Star from TUGS!
Mr Bean meets Captain Star
To be fair Rowan Atkinson would've actually been a great voice for Top Hat.
Fifteen years of eating frogs.

He was indeed..

Wait, there was...morphing in Black Adder?
Just this part
The first series was a very different tone, it was quite surreal sometimes.
I love how because it's set in the medieval era, everyone usually just accepts sorcery and magic happening out of nowhere.
What does the hawk say on 0:44? Sounds like: Not so harsh...
