  • Just look to the far left side of the video and enjoy the sounds and the scenery before you complain about the lack of a close up. And then read on...
This video was recorded on Monday June 1st, 2020 during Fulton County's monthly test. In my mind, this was going to be a cool/fun test. Sit in between two sirens along Lake Manitou on a boat and record them both. How hard can it be? Apparently very hard. Problem #1, there's an island right in the perfect spot to be directly in the middle of the two sirens. Problem #2, because of that, you can only see the SRNB and the SRN from this EXACT location. Problem #3, boats move. A LOT. I put down two anchors on opposite corners of the boat and was still pivoting around like crazy. Since this was the close siren, I just set a camera on a tripod with a wide shot and hoped for the best while I focused my attention on my other camera which was zoomed into the fast-spinning SRN, which you can hear in the background. But hey, at least you can see some sort of strange boat that can literally pull up a boat lift and drag it away puttering off at the end of the video.
Sirens in Fulton County are tested Monthly on Monday at 10am. Fulton County has a random variety of mostly Federal sirens of varying ages with a couple ASC and Senry sirens sprinkled in. Dispatch sets them all off. The varying jurisdictions buy, own, and maintain them. Lake Manitou itself is very well covered by 2 2001s that were installed by the city of Rochester. Rochester has 2 more 2001s, another SRN and a 130.
