- Episode 128. The Glenlivet for me tends toward caramel and vanilla with a characteristic nose of cut orchard fruits, like pear and red apple. This bottle stays in that range, but adds some oak, light spice, and a pleasant coating in the mouth. I appreciate this bottle more now than I did a few years ago and would certainly look for it when it goes on sale. I apologize for the audio here, I seem to be having trouble with my mic, and the wind picked up a bit too. What do you think of the Glenlivet 15 year old? #whiskyfabric#whiskytube#whiskyneighbour
Nice job Jon... My fav age statement 15...this bottle is the most gifted bottle that I get from family and friends... Cheers my friend...
Thanks Alan! I need to catch up on more of your videos, I am too many behind!
@@WhiskyNeighbour not happy Jon...your neglecting me fella...lol..cheers buddy..your missing some good stuff
@@thewhiskyfriend I know! You certainly enjoy great expressions!!
Neighbor Jon - I think the wind filter worked just fine....and it's killing me down here in Arizona to see you all bundled up. We're so ready for scarf-weather!! Really enjoyed this review, and have to really appreciate the palate progression alongside you. Neighbor Jon, it takes time, but what a worthy and rewarding pursuit! Recently I've been enjoying a revisit of the R.L Seale's 10yr Barbados Rum (no additives). Six years ago, I was underwhelmed, but now it's a "wow""! Great to see you, and enjoy that cool breeze!! 💨💨💨
If I could move it south, I would. I hope you get some cool weather soon. Thanks for letting me know the filter helped. I was not happy with the noise! Cheers!
Dude... you seriously are the man. Would love to share a glass with you! Just found your videos and I love em, the different settings are great haha
Thanks. I wish we could! At least we can through this format. I try to just pour and share my thoughts, which means sometimes they work, while others, not so much. Do you appreciate all types of whisky or do you tend to have a favourite?
Thank you Jon! Good comparison , and i actually thought the noise was traffic going by until you indicated it was the wind. Cheers!
Thanks Gary. I tried to run a wind filter in processing, but it only partially worked. Take care!
Thanks Jon. Another one a regular Joe can get and afford. I get this bottle for the holidays and finish it with friends in a few weeks. The top notes fade pretty quickly on this one. It shows it's beauty early and in a quiet place. I think I'll finally get the Glenfiddich 15 this time for holiday.
Great connection to have with a bottle. Friends and Holidays! I hope you enjoy the Glenfiddich if you do. Cheers!
Great review, John! That bottle sounds really good, something about French oak that's adds additional depth of flavor to a whisky. Great notes on your review. I always enjoy GlenLivet. Cheers brother!
Thanks Richie. I do enjoy this. Not overly complex, but a sold bottle. Cheers to the weekend.
If you get a chance, you should try the crown royal french oak from their noble collection. I know it's not scotch but the flavor to me screamed oak and found myself sipping all day until the smooth taste made me walk funny and nap great! Lol! Cheers my friend. Thanks again for the review
Lol!! I love it when I have time to sip a bottle till I nap great! I will look for the bottle. Odd I have not seen it. I wonder if it is an export exclusive. Cheers!
I'm so glad you did this one.
I've had the 12 and it was my Gateway to Scotch. My friend had the 18 and let me try it...we almost finished the bottle. It was very creamy, nutty and subtle. So smooth. I've always wondered about the 15yrs. Great review! Thanks Jon!!!
I would suggest this has some of that creamy character with a little more oak spice. Clearly in the family.
Hi Jon great video. I'm the same as you . A while ago if a whisky was a little soft I would often dismiss it thinking its a bad whisky but my palate has changed. I'm enjoying quite a range of whiskies that are only bottled at 40%. My whisky of the year last year was the Glenlivet 18 whisky is very soft and gentle.
It is a wonderful journey to be on! Cheers my friend!
Great video, Jon! This is def a good sipper, and French oak gives it something a little different! Cheers 🥃
Thanks for dropping in! I think it adds a little spice to a fairly relaxed Speyside. Cheers indeed 🥃🥃
Great review, Jon! I may have to go back to this expression because it just struck me as weak and watered down when I had it...
If you check my first review, I said similar things. A few years later I can catch layers I did not find earlier.
I really like it. Yes, the apple is the first thing in the nose.
Glad you enjoy this one! I have gained a new appreciation for it. Not my favorite, but a good single malt!
Catching up on your older videos. I like both 15 year olds but seem to enjoy the Glenlivet a bit more. Wine and Beyond has Glenfiddich on for $52 right now and Glenlivet for $65 at the middle of February. Both prices are very good for a 15 year old. Thanks Jon, cheers!
Great prices! Thanks for the tip! What is it about Glenlivet that appeals to you more right now?
@@WhiskyNeighbour It's totally about the flavours for me. I think Glenlivet has a better taste on the palate, again it's just personal preference. I did buy another bottle of Glenfiddich though. It's a great buy when you can get a 15 year old for $52 and a nice dram to share with people who don't drink a lot of scotch.
@@skippyvanpob2762 Completely agree. Good pick up!
Nice review Jon🙂 My buddy Simon swears by Glenlivet, I tend to think they are a bit boring, but the French oak finish gives it something extra with the oak and the pepper that improves their whisky😋
Glenlivet has grown on me, and this is an approachable expression with a little edge, that I like.
Both of these would be so much better at 43% or even better at 46%. Great review Jon.
Agree!! Thanks for dropping in.
I really like these glenlivet scotch they are so easy and delicious.
A quality dram for sure. Thanks for dropping in!
Solid review
Wish the distillers would wake up and increase abv to 43 minimum
Prefer The Glenlivet of Glenfiddich
Fair. I agree 43 and of course 46 preferred!
Glenfiddich or or Glenlivet?
This was Glenlivet
Almost 70usd where i live. Great review though👍
Ouch, that is high in my opinion. I good Scotch though. Do you enjoy it?
Whisky Neighbour i am more into blended whisky like JW, chivas, monkey shoulder as i am a beginner but i am trying to up my game. As of now the only single malts Ive had are glenlivet 12 and glenfiddich 12. I was thinking to buy a bottle of The Glenlivet 15 but I’ve heard better reviews about the 18 so I think ill go for the 18.
@@MahirTandon The 18 is better, but often costs significantly more too. I prefsr Glenfiddich 15 to the Glenlivet 15. More fruit.
Whisky Neighbour thanks for the suggestion😊 i ended up buying the chivas 18 yesterday as i got a good deal on it . The Glenlivet 18 was available but it was the 40%abv batch reserve variant for a 110$. The chivas 18 was just 80$ it was a very tempting price for a 18 year old scotch. I think my next bottle will be the glenfiddich 15 as you suggested.
@@MahirTandon awesome!
