Nicely done Chris. Silver has it's share of issues so you should be pleased with the results. Good karma taking of a neighbor also! Keep up the good work.
Thanks have to paint a customer bumper and I’m like bumper racks are crazy money. Until I came across your video which is again fire, keep bring videos like that
Lovin the New intro bro 👍 wow I just got done about an hour or go shooting a 2016 Chevy volt front bumper and then I sit to take a break and here you are shooting one to lol! Came out great bro keep up the great work!!
Mine was a blue metallic with like a purple egg shell I have trouble matching this color only because it had already been previously painted and they were way off on the color code but air did come out really good I wish there was like a forum to post pics lol
Ram010108 M You def should try it out , just make sure you are spraying it on evenly and utilize a control coat , it’s tricky but I’m sure you’ll manage 🤙🏻
@@Mechaniclyfe thanks, its going to be my first car job. I've been practicing on my banshee ATV plastics with good results. Picked up two spectrum hte guns for a great price but I am going to upgrade soon. I see guys getting excellent results with less like sprayway so in not too concerned with gun just got to get my technique and prep down right. 👊🏾
I've currently been using the speedokote speed o line clear. Do you think it will hold up on a vehicle? Was thinking of purchasing the Grant oh my clear but this is just a daily driver/ flip so not sure it's worth me spending 3x the $.
Big question, if the bumper came in the factory shipping primer sealer, why prime it? Do you fine the base lays better? Looks good tho man. Iv sprayed ps2 before not terribly hard to spray.
Couple reasons why I prime over their sealer. 1. Coverage , don’t want the black bumpers sealer to darken the color. 2. The sealer they use sometimes is a inconsistent texture, so I use the primer or sealer to smoothen it even more , and I find the base just lays smoother when I do that. 3. Sometimes the bumper has a slight wave or has damage from shipping , so I prime it to smoothen it and look less wavy. Yeah first time spraying ps2, wasn’t hard per say since the Metallics are a bit finer but I want to say static on the bumper was causing some issues with how the metallics were laying down. But overall not hard at all. 😅🤙🏻
I have noticed these things. I did a bumper last week and the shipping primer had more texture than usual. But I usually just Barrie that texture with 2 coats of some super high solids clear. On economy bumper jobs I never primer seal, scuff as is, base and clear that's all ya get! Lol. But for more quality or show quality jobs yea, primer, base then clear. I do find my basecoat lays better when there's a good primer.
That’s more than enough , that good enough for 3 -4 bumpers , usually a 1/2 pint to a pint is good for a bumper , depends how well you can preserve paint
My buddy actually gave that too me, it’s actually a clothes hanger , it’s nice because it breaks down easily and when I need it i just out it together. I think I saw one similar at Walmart or target
Why prime it if it's already primed? I've painted thousands of bumpers and giving lifetime warranty on my work with just adhesion promoter and straight to base-clear. No material waste=best price possible for my customer. But GREAT JOB anyways!
Thanks brother, primed for color coverage , red doesn’t cover to well as we know. Plus the bumper texture wasn’t as smooth as I would have liked , I suppose maybe just some sealer would have done the trick but I like to be certain so I chose primer :)
Igor Moiseev I meant silver 🤦🏻♂️ Lol , I painted a red bumper too thought it was the red bumper , but same issue with the silver , I didn’t want the silver to be darker than the rest of the car , thanks for the kind words 🙏🏻🤙🏻

Thanks Kurt, def a bit of a challenge with this silver but I managed to overcome it. She was definitely happy with the results as was I . Cheers 🍻
That came out great! Very inspiring to see what can be done in a home garage, when you have the skills.👍
Superb work! Love that end result
Great opening with the money shot and music. XXX rated
Justin L haha 😂 thank brother , had to throw the slo mo in there too haha
Nice! The new headlights really make it shine too.
Thanks 🙏🏻 yeah it looked really nice 😊

They for sure are man, I’ve been wanting one from innovative tools but don’t got that kind of money lol

Yeah same , problem is no one goes on forums anymore ☹️, it’s like a dead trend
Very good job man. Haven't sprayed silver yet but I'm excited to try it out

Came out really nice. In going to re spray my 01 silver integra soon.
Best of luck on your project , silver can be tricky to paint but I’m sure you’ll do well 👍🏻

Should hold up fine , Marco at speedokote refinish network can probably give you more information on that one, that’s all he uses
Definitely killed the paint job. 🔥 🔥. Question that paint stand is that home built or purchased?
Paint stand is a clothes rack my friend found in the trash
Looking good!

Is one quart good base color enough to paint a front bumper?

@@Mechaniclyfe sounds great, thank you for the information. Much appreciated!
No worries
Where did you get the rolling rack that you mounted the bumper too?

@@Mechaniclyfe thanks I'll be needing that
It’s handy for sure
Looking good...what happened with the inflatable paint booth seen your review?
I still got it but it’s wayyyy to big to use it’s super tall
Looks real good silvers are not easy to spray. More $$ for your honda project.
Thanks brother , sure aren’t , pesky those silvers are, yup no I can afford a new clutch lol
I looked and couldn't find what brand of base & clear did you use?
Base coat is valspar
Clear is USC clear , budget clear but works decent
@@Mechaniclyfe Ok I havn't been painting that long. I'v had good luck with wanda base for blending and diamond for panel painting.
Hey dude, where in Ca. are you?
:)
Orange County
South Orange County to be exact
Good job the car looks great! And when u get time can you tell me any of your social media’s cause I want to add you and dm you about something
Sure ig: just_a_mechanic86
Overspray thank you
Very nice. Your videos are becoming very professional....who do you paint this stuff for? Do you do it for money or just experience?
Socal Stangman friends family neighbors , sometimes for a tip sometimes for free, and other times for myself . It’s just a hobby of mine
That’s cool, great way to learn.
Yeah I’ve been painting for about 5 years now but always learning something new, everything I’ve learned is self taught
