What you make is very professional. I can also learn a lot of your presentation. I have one question to you : Do you know where i can buy the wheel hubs and axles? With kind regards. gerben.
Thanks, Gerben! Glad you like my video's! The truck was still fairly complete, so I still had the original wheels and tyres. For axle replacements, I would advise you to buy hollow axles so you can slide a small domed nail in the ends. This will be easier to work with. I buy all my spare parts at modelcarparts.com in The Netherlands. Rob, the owner, is a very nice guy who will answer any questions you have prior to ordering. Another great supplier of third party parts is model-supplies.co.uk.
Hi! I enjoyed your restoration very much! That is a BIG toy! Did you collect Matchbox, Dinky, Corgi, or what growing up? May I make a recommendation? I would put the decals or transfers on the dried painted surfaces first, and THEN lacquer the model to seal and protect them better.
Thanks! As a child I didn't really collect them. They all went into this big Curver box that I poured out over the carpet whenever I wanted to play with them. I thought about putting on the stickers before the clear coat, but I didn't do it for two reasons: the first one is authenticity. Dinky always put the stickers on last. And second, if ever the stickers needed to be removed or replaced, that would be impossible if they were under the clear coat.
That turned out really well. Your Grandfather would be impressed with your work.
Thanks! 🙂
