Crow shooting for the first time. It DIDN'T disappoint!!

- A build up of crows and other corvids on local farm land needed moving on and I got the thumbs up to set up my hide. This is my first time shooting crows so I didn't know what to expect! I was using the Gamebore clear pigeon 32g 6 steel cartridge and I personally didn't think it had enough to take some of them down. Lesson learned! As always the trusted Browning never let me down!
Leave a like on the video if you enjoyed it as I'll hopefully be doing a lot more of this in the coming weeks.

Nice work on the corvids with the weather conditions aswell pal 💥👍
Cheers mate, thankfully it was only a brief shower and wasn’t too bad of a day 👍🏼
6s are good but use a flapper or 2 closer to your hide a spinner seems to move them on, and use lead, don`t have your decoys to far out.
Thanks mate, a lot of people have mentioned a flapper now so I’ll definitely look into getting one, cheers 👍🏼
Decent content mate 👍
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it
get em in close and a 6 is plenty, try a flapper instead of a rotor they looked a bit wary.
Nice one mate, thanks for the advice I’ll
give it a try the next time im out 👍🏼
Clear pigeon are lead but I use pigeon extreme, I don't mind the clear pigeon but found without a tight choke they dint kill clean so use modified choke with 34g extreme, great video dude keep it up.
You must have read my mind haha, I’m giving the pigeon extreme a try next time out 34g 5’s. Sounds like I had the same issue as you, hitting a decent amount but not killing them. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏼 thanks.
As several people have already said bring the decoys in a bit closer & you seemed to get snagged in the netting a few times? I try to have two poles at the front but with plenty of room to swing. I also put the net a bit lower (but I'm short). I tried a bucket seat but found it too uncomfortable so emptied my wallet on an adjustable leg swivel chair. As for cartridges the two deadliest crow & pigeons shots I know shoot the cheapest fibre wad 7.5 clay cartridges they can buy through 3/4 & full choke - they can consistently drop them at 40+m which is astounding (& says it's the direction you shoot not the cartridge).
Make sure you flapper is not going fast use it on a very slow speed.
I’ve heard 100rpm is a good speed for it with crows?
I'm sure Corvid wear Flack Jackets, they can take such a hit.
Tough aren’t they!? I’m hopefully going out again this weekend and using a different cartridge so we’ll see what happens! 🤞🏻
@@waynemotty3265 Ok wayne
1/2 or 3/4 choke is great even with 6s just let them come in closer, clear pigeons only come in lead bud
Thanks for the info mate, I was using 1/2 in both barrels so maybe I’ll tighten it up a bit. Totally agree with letting them come in closer, I was just getting giddy at the start of the day 👍🏼
when you say you moving back to lead are they steel then i allways find with crows better with a 5 or may be a 4 cheers pete
Yes mate they’re 32g 6 steel. I’ve bought some 34g 5 for next time, see how I get on with those.
Correction mate, sorrry. They’re not steel they’re lead I thought were steel 👍🏼
Looks like your pattern is a bit far out. I am not an expert but you want your pattern no more than 25 yards away. In a horseshoe shape. The middle of the horseshoe in front of you. But IAM NOT AN EXPERT. great vid. Also I would have 1/2 choke aswell
Thanks for your opinion mate, it probably looks further away on camera but the middle of that pattern is 25 yards. As for the pattern itself i just winged it to be honest but seemed to work well. I’ll give the U shape pattern a try next time as it makes sense 👍🏼 thanks again
The clear pigeon are lead
A few people have mentioned this now, I was (wrongly) told they were steel. I’ve just upped my shot size for next time from a 6 to a 5, see if they hit any harder!
Thanks for the info, hope you enjoyed the vid 👍🏼
I use 5s for everything it ok the steel cartridge normally have it written on them and yes I enjoyed the video 6s are ample for the crows just move the decoys in closer or let the birds come closer
@@ghillie35 yes I think that’s what I’m going to do next time. Move them 5-10 yards closer and be a bit more patient 👍🏼
Don’t get to disheartened buy it I used to worry about what choke and cartridges then just forgot about it and shoot more with out thinking about it it’s all about confidence
@@ghillie35 completely agree with that! Happy with my results for the first time on crows though, hopefully get some bigger days in the bag now though 👍🏼
