- Dutch verb conjugation - How to conjugate Dutch verbs?
www.learndutch.org/lessons/con...
This lesson deals with the 25 most common verbs in Dutch (Nederlandse werkwoorden). A very simple explanation is given for the Dutch verb conjugation in the present tense. In the video the example of the verb 'lopen' is given; that get a [t] added to the stem in the 2nd and 3rd person singular. In the plural, the conjugation is the same as the infinitive.
The video refers to lesson 4 of the online Dutch Grammar course #dutchgrammar, in which a more detailed explanation is given, taking into account all the difficult spelling rules (short vs long vowels, and consonant changes). That will give a full understanding on how to conjugate Dutch verbs.

I Bart, I really like your lessons and have been doing all the exercises so far.
I just came across a possible mistake though - for the last question on 8D Context (vocab exercise), 'Ik luister naar musiek' I was given a 'fout' for using 'luister' instead of 'luisteren' - but I think I was right? Maybe double check?
Many thanks again for these great classes!

Her Bart Je Lees is heel goed,Het is gemmaklijk voor mij begrijpen je lees.
hey Bart! thank you! in minute 3:56, Het antwoord means the answer? or to answer?
is like italian and french or even spanish and portuguese what very similar are these languages between them in many things
Mr Paul, I think i found a mistake in this video. In 3:56, it should be "the answer" not to answer, right!? Thank you! By the way, i love all of your videos! They help me alot :)
Heel erg bedankt
Dank je so fiel Bart! Ik ben leer nederlands met jouw lessen
en ik vind ze zo behulpzaam! (Ik kom uit Schotland dus Nederlands is moeilijk) :D
just a comparison with german
Lopen - laufen; Ik loop- Ich laufe; hebben- haben; worden-werden; gaan-gehen;
vragen-fragen; antwoorden-antworten; kopen-kaufen; krijgen-kriegen; eten-essen
about uit je neus eten, the german do the same in the traffic jam or by the shining of the red traffic light lol.
drinken - trinken; rijden - reiten (but only the horses not cars). fahren by the cars;
vergeten - vergessen; horen-hören; zien- sehen; kijken-gucken; weten-wissen; leren-lernen; slapen-schlaffen; lezen-lesen; schrijven-schreiben; spreken-sprechen; zeggen-sagen; denken-denken; wachten-warten
The dutch and the German are similar in their culture and way of thinking
I do not find sense to learn dutch because they can understand perfectly speak in all these language in the english language french language and especially the german language respectively dutch language the difference to the german is that has a lot of these 3 european languages but with also very rare twists but how is another language obviously that changes a lot in grammar vocabulary etc but I think that german is much easier to learn besides more useful and spoken than dutch
Asyel Akylbek €p
Germans and dutch people the similar?
wow you must be kidding
Awesome list
And both languages share a common ancestor
I wouldn't say Germans and Dutch people are similar tho
I'm learning German and I think Dutch is easier
Hoi leraar,
I'm receiving incorrect mark on "jullie drinken" as my answer to the "you drink" (plural form).
But correct on the "jullie gaan" for "you go"(plural form).
Kindly guide me on this.

Dank U

Eh je bent niet Nederlands toch? Want je spreekt al zo goed Nederlands
@@thedutchqirlll9172 Hoi. Ik ben geen Nederlander. Maar ik heb er 6 jaar gewoond.
I also it is highly important to recap of what you you learned over night , first thing in the morning when the brain is fresh . That is what I say. Point to note.
❤❤❤❤i like this do u do lives
I am very confused by the quiz. I was asked to write: You drink (plural formal)
I responded with "u drinken" and it was marked incorrect.
"Drinken" is the infinitive, and therefore should be unchanged for all plural conjugations. Where am I going wrong here?
+Brian Boe Drinken should only be used in plural form:
wij drinken - we drink
jullie drinken - you(p) drink
zij drinken - they drink
The correct answer is 'u drinkt'.
Ik drink - I drink
jij/*u drinkt* - you drink
hij/zij drinkt - he/she drinks
+SilverSkySE that contradicts what the course videos say. plural formal is "u," and in this video it says that plural conjugations are unchanged from the infinitive. Is the plural form of "u" different from all other plural conjugations?
There is no plural form of "u", "u" is a formal way of saying "jij". For both "u" and "jij" you use the 2nd person singular "drinkt". The plural form of u/jij is "jullie"(you plural in english). "Jullie drinken" is correct.
+Brian Boe ua-cam.com/video/B81h3LZamYk/v-deo.html at 8:25. We use 'u' when you talk in a formal way to more than 1 person (plural). From a grammar point of view 'u' is not the same as the plural forms wij, jullie, zij. So we don't use the infinitive, but the singular conjugation. This course is focussed on vocabulary - not on grammar. It's not a big deal if you make this mistake in the test. You'll learn it in the grammar course.
Thanks for the clarification.
God bless you sir .
Also what if someone doesn't have the to eat good food, even good body ardor will become a problem, Sincerely.
If the congugation for first person lopen is ik loop, why is the congugation for first person komen ik kom instead of ik koom?
That's one of the spelling/pronunciation rules. In "komen" the o is not a long vowel, so in "ik kom" it does not need a double o.
nice one
We shall team with Bart.
Thank you Bart de paw.
The typing quizes are hard, i will never get them right!!
Bart Uygulamaya ulasmakta problem yasiyorum
Thanks so much Bart . The thing is if someone donot have the gut to buy good food and eat , he / she will eventually has one of this system about natural mouth ardor. I guess we all will understand from which standard am talking about, that is why we should be fit when we face with challenges, cause all this will be counted. The God Almighty am not faced with that category regardless of some of the state of lack am into. Thank you God. Also Thanks for sharing.
Erg mooi
Praten not on app vocab list :)
Ik wel Nederlands leren. Dankuvel.
Bart jij bent leuk
If 'jij' is 'you', then what is 'je'?
Its exactly the same
almost all the verbs here are for plurals, having -en in the back.. I wish you put the verbs for at least the perspective of I..
ex. ik : heb
jij : hebt
hij/zij(she)/any singular like boy, girl, it : heeft
wij/zij(they) : hebben
(I learned this in duolingo. Bart's videos are great, but unless you become premium I suggest watch bart's video and practice in duolingo )

Hello
Hoi Bernt, I started today watching these videos and I find them very good, clear, adding some cultural facts, and I was satisfied with your work until I saw "Dutch verbs - lesson 8: Most common verbs & Dutch verb conjugation" minute 8:52. Transcript "(...) and as far as my understanding of women goes, "ik zeg dit, maar ik denk dat"."
It might be a joke, but its utterly sexist. It is very disappointing.
Strange... I thought you would have found the doctor joke more offensive?
Hi Olivia, I see your point.. I had the same reaction when he did the doctor joke - as another user mentioned.
But in the end I just noticed that there is nothin really "sexist" about it.. that's not the point, it's just a method that Bart uses in order to make you memorize the words, through stereotypes, and clichés, common expression ecc..
Ja..... Eh eigenlijk wel ja, maar het is eerder, ik voel dat maar ik wil niet dat anderen het merken dus ik zeg it
Bij slechte dingen dan bvb als je ouders gaan scheiden
ik loop
The 70 people who disliked this probably thought this was a Deutsch lesson
мне показалось или там Собчак пратэн ?
Hi Bart, awesome lessons however those comments about women here and there are pretty bad. They are not funny.
You really had to use some ridiculous misogynistic trope? Women say what they think but men gaslight us when the pretend we didn’t.
Yet more casual sexism. Women say one thing and think another! Otherwise great lesson. But such dated stereotypes...
