    Dear Maria:
My name is Maria too! I am so excited to find this video/lesson. I actually taught this lesson my first year teaching middle school theatre. I was trying to come up with a lesson about theatrical design, and how designers often find inspiration from famous paintings. I first saw An American in Paris when I was nine, so this is the first thing I thought of. I stayed up for hours on the internet looking for all of these artists and their paintings, cutting and pasting them into a word document, and then spent a bunch of money on expensive color copies so that my students could look and the pictures and then look at the movie as it played. I loved the additional details I learned from this video! I did not make the connection that in the Henri Rousseau sequence the Gypsy's dress was the same fabric pattern as the ballerinas in the chorus around Lise. Thank you so much for the extra research!
    Sincerely,
    Maria Hart

I truly enjoyed this information. I always knew the ballet featured different artists, and your explanation made this so clear. Thank you!

It would be nice if you could have printed the names of the first couple of artists. I would like to do my own research into this.
