  • A new report says that cases of police officers or staff abusing their position for sexual gain have risen sharply - after efforts to crack down on the offence.
The police watchdog for England and Wales said perpetrators could face criminal sanctions and custodial sentences - as well as losing their jobs.
Anja Popp has spoken to one woman who's waived her anonymity to speak out for the first time about the police abuse after she'd reported an allegation of rape.
Some viewers may find some of her testimony disturbing.

It's horrible to see someone so obviously broken down by such a scumbag.

Firstly, I am not anti police by any means. I remember hearing police 30 years ago talking about hooking up with female victims and that it happened a lot. A victim is very vulnerable to be victimized again because they are in a vulnerable state. There are bad people in every profession and there are people who abuse power. The perpetrator looks for weakness and vulnerability it makes their job so much easier and sadly female victims are going to be the target. To be victimized by somebody who is supposed to be a hero is a horrible crime in itself. Good cops hate this as much as you. Thank God more people are coming forward and people are starting to listen.

There have been countless occasions when senior policing staff have been professional and helpful. Sadly those men have mostly retired, leaving the public at the mercy of what’s left. Do these men abusing their power have mothers? Sisters? Daughters? It’s just horrifying. Sickening.
For all of us. This woman is exceptionally brave to risk sealing publicly about the crimes perpetrated against her. Not always a good idea to show vulnerability like this in public.
Thing is, when you show fear in public; it tends to worsen/escalate as this is a humongous organisation with endless resources to further abuse their power in retribution. Subsequently, most women won’t even dare to publicly express the gravity of alarm and distress caused by these men. They tend to target women and girls they know have been targeted previously, labouring under the assumption that they somehow deserve it or that this is the woeful standard of treatment the woman should expect.

Check out Police Abusing Powers on UA-cam. Look at how many Police are taken to court for abuse of powers. A FOI request was made to the Police, asking them how many serving officers have criminal records and the amount waiting for court on sexual allegations. It is terrible.
Power to this lady for speaking out. Many are too scared of what will happen, to speak out.
    They are NOT rare.

I think the issue lies not in the relatively small number who behave in this abusive way but in the unwillingness by colleagues to hold them accountable. There is an imbalance in the respect given to the officer over the victim. Few report bad conduct until it reaches a gross level. We see this in the sad thankfully rare case of Wayne Cozens whose behaviour gave grave concern but nothing was done. Officers face backlash if they do not support colleagues despite clear wrong doing. This atmosphere needs to be addressed. You can’t blame lower ranks when high ranks are keen to hide misconduct in case it reflects on them. Double whammy for decent officers. Until there are penalties felt by those who fail to report this won’t change. If you are with a bank robber whilst he robs even if you do nothing. You are held accountable. So should those who fail to report police wrong doing. It’s not loyalty it’s misconduct.

It's rife throughout every Constabulary in the country. They don't turn their body cameras on when they are committing crimes, they should be on 100% of the time to hold those criminals accountable... and by criminals I mean the police.

It's a joke when this Las defends police insteads of talking about this particular police behaviour.
This is not the first important point. That all police care and want to help and want people come to them for help.
    Secondly
I have experienced so many years of different police both personally and by those who are closest to me. And the behaviour n mistreatment of victims is very real and not a one case incident.

2009, former Borough Commander of Battersea police kept his mouth shut after being made aware that colleagues of his were involved and responsible for arranging a filmed vulgar assault on a black lady who's Shandy was spiked by her drug dependant nephew and his mother's across the road from Scotland yard. An act of revenge due to a corrupted PC's fabricated case against her innocent "non criminal", brother RIGHTFULLY thrown out of court on (30th October 2006).
The intention was to humiliate the black proud female in question after she had handed in two complaint letters into Chelsea police station regarding further harassment of her brother using, further bizarre fabricated falsehoods in 2007.

@ bacon pancakes we have prison for two reasons one it's is a job until we pretend to take criminals off the streets and many for all the wrong reasons or no reason like what goes on at Rikers Island prison in New York state which is horrific and then we have to deal with the third big problem the private for-profit prison services. More government funding and less accountability.

Privatisation of the prison system is as abhorrent as a privatised health service, both should only be state hands as that is what our taxes are for.

Police by consent, " today parliament has passed a law prohibiting police officers from arresting someone without giving consent to be arrested. " " I don't consent to being arrested after committing a first degree murder therefore you are not legally allowed to arrest me. " " I do not consent to getting a speeding ticket so I do not have to pay it ." Let me know how that is going to work out .

    • @AlcideIzMine
      @AlcideIzMine Рік тому

That's not what policing by consent means, and nowhere in this video did anyone even come close to saying what you suggested.
If you can't be honest in your argument, you have a bad argument to begin with and people won't believe anything you say because you've been demonstrated as untruthful. Just an FYI. You can make a point without lying through your teeth.
In case you made an honest mistake, I'll try and explain it to you. Police are provided a lot of privileges and authority in order to do the job they are hired to do. We **consent** to these privileges being granted to police with the understanding that they will not abuse these privileges.
We consent to police having privileges and powers non-law enforcement people don't possess. Such as we allow police to execute warrants, collect evidence, to do searches, detain people, arrest people, etc. We consent to giving them these powers to **lawfully** use.
We don't consent to officers abusing the powers granted to them.
That is what is meant by policing by consent.
It's literally discussed in the video 🤔 so if you watched the video I'm not sure how you missed the entire content of it.
