Boy did you create some good ol buddy memories working on this car down the road these are the memories we love to think and speak about your smart dude loved the content keep it coming
Why did you cut the front body mount off the Monte frame if outside of bravada frame fits inside the g body Fram could have left the front body mount intact and cut it straight with the inside edge of the frame. Does the person who bought this car have youtube or other social media?
Is this a BW4472 tcase? Did it not need a little modification to mate up to the trans flange? I have an earlier getrag 5 speed. I like it because the hydraulics all live outside the bell. But, I’m machining the ridge off the front because it wont fit all the way into the trans. Bolts all line up, splines match.
So this is almost exactly what I am wanting to build out of my 72 Chevelle (I have the 2000 bravada already). Have a 09 5.3, and a welder and plasma cutter. Really I was going to do a disc brake/power steering conversion, but the frame on the Chevelle is tweaked, so I have to do something, just seemed like a cheap way to have a super fun car
Dude, I am getting ready to do an AWD 1969 mercury cougar,,,thank so much for doing this video,,might have a few questions,,was thinking about using mating Audi parts since there major into AWD racing..tks all the best..
This exactly what I want to do with my 1984 Monte Carlo SS. Do u guys do work in other ppl car cause I would love to get this done to mines. I’ve been saying I WANTED this since I first seen the AWD CUTLASS
We dont really do work on other peoples cars. Its not usually worth the risk. If i could suggest. Just put the body of the monte or g body onto the chassis of the bravada. Save yourself the trouble of grafting them together.
@@thousanddollarcarguy the body of my Monte Carlo SS will fit on the chassis of a bravado ? I thought the only way was to do what u guys did cut the front of bravado and weld it to front of Monte Carlo ss frame ..Right?

@Thousanddollarcarguy Do you think i can do something like that with my 87 elco. Basically just installing 87 elco shell onto something modern. So keeping interior from chassis donor as well. I was thinking like a 2014 cadillac escalade or cts-v. Which car would u think would be best to try a swap for example less fabrication work or is that just out the window with my idea? interested in any ideas
Find a chassis with similar wheelbase length and width. I would just cut out everything in my way when putting the El Camino body over the chosen frame. But I'd just cut the roof and body off the donor car and slip the El Camino over what's left. Then weld up the seams. Is much easier not to modify a proven good chassis. And modify the top car to fit it.
@@thousanddollarcarguy exactly wat ive been thinking. And im from cali too so im hoping itll make it 100x easier to get a ref to allow me to make it smog legal
It was just the transfer case that was the only reason we went with bravada. I used the manual from a s10 blazer. And the front clip and transfer case from the bravada.
Bravada front diff is also different the 4wd diffs have a vacuum disconnect bravada awd diff does not that and transfer case are only difference between 4wd s10 and bravada awd
So you used just the front half of this bravada. I have a 84 ss I just thought about awd. Since I'm in a snow environment. Can I see more videos of the rest of this build
There were only 2 videos for this build. But yeah you just need the front half of the bravado and you need the rear diff so the wheels all spin the same rate
I might see in the video theres a bar under the front going side to side. Its right at the base if the trans tunnel. Thats supporting both frames up. That did a lot of it. Basically made sure the bottom of both frames were flush.
@@thousanddollarcarguy but doesn't the awd in the front lock up or that particular transfer case out of that bravada you used was a manual one? And doesn't need a computer to control it?
@@thousanddollarcarguy so as far what you built before you had to sell it and I went with a 98 bravada the front axles shafts wont bind up or chatter going around a turn if im running a older engine in front of the awd transfer case? @@TheStreetking1984 correct. Basically bravada front end. Change the rear end to the bravada diff so the ratios are the same coming out of stock bravada manual transfer case. you cut to much of the g frame out you could have ran a line from the gbody rear upper a arm mount to the inside frame line and heated it up and welded it in similar to welding in frame connectors on a 70s f body
@@1OldCutlass it paid for an addition onto my house that I desperately needed. If I was to do it again I wouldn't graft the frames together. I'd out it all on one standard chassis
I had the same 84 Monte Carlo rust free sold it 4 years ago. White with blue interior.

Not a simple task, thinking it all out and doing it on the fly. AND the extra challenge of keeping the cost down. Nuts!

@psycalotus it ended up being only 2 parts but the 2nd video should be there.
Super cool!!!
I always thought 4wd and AWD were different things?
The bravada was full time AWD, the blazer was selective 4 wheel drive. Not sure if that answered your question.
Is this possible with a 4l70e auto trans
Most likely. I believe the 70 is just a newer version with different gear ratios. If the lengths and input and outputs are the same you should be good

what manual trans did you use
The nv3500 from a 2000 chevy blazer. But to be specific it was the 4x4 manual trans.
