This looks more like a movie than a series. I don't usually go for character drama animes, but I am never disappointed when I do. This looks like one to watch.
I really recommend it. Mao Maos such a fun protagonist with her over the top obsession with medicine, who keeps being forced to solve problems around the palace bc of how knowledgeable she is.
there are 2 underrated recent animes already out with this animation quality first is summer time rendering which aired in 2022 and second is heavenly delusion which aired just a year after summer time rendering in spring this year
i love how honest this series is ab the struggles of women, from poisoning themselves for beauty to the trauma of the red light district 😭 mao mao is such an important character!!

YES!!! My favorite mystery light novel! The trailer unexpectedly gives off more slice of life vibes until it shifts at the end, which I guess reflects the more day to day palace life. Looking forward to seeing Mao Mao and Jinshi animated

This is a great series, nice level of intrigue, intelligence, and decent setting explanation. It’s just a shame that the series dropped the main character being “unattractive” since her being an outsider was more interesting that being a main harem competitor
What's the matter for the main character to be a competitor cause it would have been a total other story and a total other main character. Also it's not a romance so no need for that and there are already a lot of story about competitor. Here it's more interesting to follow someone on the bottom of the hierarchy and seeing that with her skills she deseves better than the others to be on the top of the hierarchy. It's cool to follow servant that are just here to clean but still manage to have interesting story to tell.
Does the MC wear makeup to intentionally look unattractive also she’s using her childlike figure to not make herself a target to lustful men who would attack women and prostitutes, which was common during that age. Edit: Correction she does wear Makeup for that reason
Well, she still has a badly scarred arm and a deformed pinky. And she's never really been a harem candidate, since there's only one person who wants to romance her, and he's not really interested in anyone else. Her looks were never a factor. It is slightly annoying in that it follows the trope that the MC must always be attractive, but given her mother, it's not all that surprising.
very good animation and background, top tier music composer, top tier main voice actors, and top tier novel as its source. This one could really be a hit. I was expecting it for 2024 but it looks like it'll be for Fall 2023 instead, so not so long to wait for. Seeing such quality, my only regret may be that there's no way the anime will cover enough of the story to see Mi Chue being animated and voiced.

I especially like how they slide still frames across the screen so you can see even more of the beautiful background image. Really pops that high quality VN cutscene feel. Oriental really blew it out of the park this time.

It was in my top three ongoing mangas I really wanted to see adapted. I hope I can live long enough to see Witch Hat Atelier and Magus of the Library get adapted as well. I don't think either of them is very likely to be adapted, but tbf I didn't think Apothecary Diaries was very likely to get an anime either.
But they made some scenes changes inside de Temple in episode 21 (I guess). For example Jinshi doesn’t turn when Maomao see him. And when Jinshi talked to her. He looks to her in frontal close

I hope for 4 volumes because it has such a great "antagonist" and closes most of the plotlines introduced. They can adapt 4 volumes in 24 eps just fine. People often overestimate how much episodes it is requred for adaptation.

Maybe they just animated certain cuts ahead of time to have them for the trailer, but I'm still impressed. After watching Shirobako, I don't expect animation to be completed that far in advance.
This is THE BEST series on Crunchyroll hands down! The animation is visually stunning and the “cases” MaoMao solve build towards an epic resolution that you will be very surprised to see unravel! Watch this by all means!❤

Наконец я дождалась экранизации Монолога в аптечной лавке. Это замечательная история! Здесь прекрасный юмор и дворцовые интриги, детективная часть, а также проблемы общества того времени, которые, впрочем, откликаются и сейчас. С одной стороны, показана степенная жизнь во дворце, с другой, различные расследования Маомао, Джинси и Гаосуня (сори, я не помню как их имена правильно писались на русском, так как читаю в основном на инглише) и других. Если вы тут за романтикой, то это слоу бёрн, но очень стоящий, поверьте) Взаимодействия главных героев прекрасны, наполнены как химией, так и юмором. Все смотрится очень органично. Плюс Маомао сама по себе не думает о романтике. Она практичная, повернутая на ядах, разбирается в медицине, у нее острый ум и она очень внимательна. Плюс жизнь в район красных фонарей научила ее разным навыкам (вспомнила ее уроки девушкам из гарема ахаха). А еще она по характеру напоминает кошку ^^. Все персонажи в Монологе интересны, со своей историей. Они не плоские. Даже если история второстепенного персонажа на пару глав, он раскрывается, ты невольно сочувствуешь ему, осуждаешь, испытываешь эмоции. Анимация в экранизации и в целом картинка выглядят нормально) Надеюсь, и дальше не подкачает! Хотяяя Джинси где-то смотрится простовато ахаха Возможно, им было сложно передать всю его красоту лол. Очень понравились сейю актеров: низкий голос Маомао как и представляла и нежный голос Джинси по-моему 10/10. В общем, с нетерпением жду выхода! Поверьте, история того стоит.

It looks like a lot of this takes place inside the Chinese imperial palace. I've been there and it really is a breathtaking structure.
It's an alternative world equivalent of it, but yes, that's what it's supposed to equate to.

I wasn't excepting anything from this at all but I was impressed by the first 3 episodes. Very stunning sceneries and stage direction

It’s pretty obvious especially with the Tang era hairstyles. Nonetheless the fictional country in the novel is based on ancient China.
@@BehdinAzadih-hh7rj It is obvious but weebs are often so obsessed with Japan, they think everything is Japan. I’ve even seen them think that Mulan is Japanese. It would be hilarious if it were not so pathetic and disappointing.
@@swkmjlotr2367 I think it’s deeper than that. “Weebs” tend to be almost exclusively, YT or US citizens that already have a handicap in learning/having knowledge of the rest of the world.

Наконец я дождалась экранизации Монолога в аптечной лавке. Это замечательная история! Здесь прекрасный юмор и дворцовые интриги, детективная часть, а также проблемы общества того времени, которые, впрочем, откликаются и сейчас. С одной стороны, показана степенная жизнь во дворце, с другой, различные расследования Маомао, Джинси и Гаосуня (сори, я не помню как их имена правильно писались на русском, так как читаю в основном на инглише) и других. Если вы тут за романтикой, то это слоу бёрн, но очень стоящий, поверьте) Взаимодействия главных героев прекрасны, наполнены как химией, так и юмором. Все смотрится очень органично. Плюс Маомао сама по себе не думает о романтике. Она практичная, повернутая на ядах, разбирается в медицине, у нее острый ум и она очень внимательна. Плюс жизнь в район красных фонарей научила ее разным навыкам (вспомнила ее уроки девушкам из гарема ахаха). А еще она по характеру напоминает кошку ^^. Все персонажи в Монологе интересны, со своей историей. Они не плоские. Даже если история второстепенного персонажа на пару глав, он раскрывается, ты невольно сочувствуешь ему, осуждаешь, испытываешь эмоции.
Анимация в экранизации и в целом картинка выглядят нормально) Надеюсь, и дальше не подкачает! Хотяяя Джинси где-то смотрится простовато ахаха Возможно, им было сложно передать всю его красоту лол. Очень понравились сейю актеров: низкий голос Маомао как и представляла и нежный голос Джинси по-моему 10/10. В общем, с нетерпением жду выхода! Поверьте, история того стоит.
