How did the Earth evolve to support life.
Our planet now supports a huge diversity of living creatures requiring very special conditions, but what was the series of events that brought this unique set of conditions together? What did it take to make a world that would support human life? Naked Science takes an imaginary ‘human’ time traveller on a journey back to the moment of formation of our solar system. We meet the scientists who are carrying out their own detective work, uncovering the clues around the world today into what our planet was like 4 and a half billion years ago.
Our journey begins with the astonishing story of how a giant cloud of interstellar dust and gas collapsed to form the sun and planets. We discover that the intense heat of the early Earth created a molten iron core. This generated a magnetic shield around our planet that protects us, to this day, from the sun’s deadliest particles.
Many of the features we take for granted on our living planet were forged in the most violent event in our planet’s history. Early in its life, the Earth collided with another planet. Planetary Scientist Robin Canup has modelled the impact using supercomputers. She reveals that the resulting fireball was so energetic it melted the Earth and created the moon. This dramatic impact gave us our tides and seasons.
We wouldn’t have life today without water. But where our water came from is a mystery that has long puzzled scientists. At a NASA research laboratory, Michael Zolensky studies a recently discovered meteorite that supports the view that water came from space.
For the first half of its history the Earth had an atmosphere of methane and carbon dioxide we would find impossible to breathe. One clue as to how the earth acquired its oxygen can be found in Australia. Shark Bay in Western Australia is home to strange bacterial mounds called stromatolites. The bacteria in these objects are pumping out oxygen. A few hundred miles away geologist Martin Van Kranendonk shows us a fossil stromatolite, the world’s oldest fossil. The evidence suggests that these strange objects are responsible for creating the air we breathe.

Gravity AND ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy are linked AND BALANCED opposites ON BALANCE. Consider TIME AND time dilation ON BALANCE. Great.
GRAVITY AND TWO DIMENSIONAL SPACE ARE CONSISTENT WITH E=MC2:
E=MC2 is taken directly from F=ma. TIME is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual ON/IN BALANCE. The TRANSLUCENT blue sky is manifest as (or consistent with/as) what is BALANCED BODILY/VISUAL EXPERIENCE. Accordingly, ON BALANCE, the TRANSLUCENT blue sky is true/real QUANTUM GRAVITY. THINK!!! ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is CLEARLY AND NECESSARILY proven to be gravity (ON/IN BALANCE). Accordingly, ON BALANCE, the rotation of WHAT IS THE MOON matches it's revolution. Importantly, what is gravity cannot be shielded (or blocked) ON BALANCE. Great. You didn't forget to consider what is the orange AND setting Sun ON BALANCE, did you!!? Magnificent. I have FUNDAMENTALLY and truly revolutionized physics. (Lava is orange, AND it is even blood red.) GREAT !!!! Obviously, carefully and CLEARLY consider what is THE EYE ON BALANCE, as it ALL CLEARLY makes perfect sense ON BALANCE. (BALANCE AND completeness go hand in hand.). Fantastic !!!

I did not 'proclaim' "It is not"...I said "No . We are not'', in relation to his downright stupid claim that 'we are destroying the planet at the speed of light.' (7.5 times round the world in 1 second!)
What informs my, as you presumptively put it, political persuasions is the unarguable science.
(Unless you still think that we can turn lead into gold?)
Studies of temperature and CO2 cycles by geological and ice cores, over millions of years demonstrate that Temperature peeks always, ALWAYS precede CO2 peaks by approx. 600-800 years. Temperature rises cause CO2 peeks! Not the reverse!
Please explain why, this proven & undeniable cycle, should suddenly be different BEFORE you proceed with anything else!
It is the foundation stone of the entire matter!
While you're at it, please explain the "how & why" of the physical behaviour of the Co2 molecule, a "trace element' in the presence of I.R. radiation shows a 'green house effect" utterly dwarfed by water vapour which ABOUNDS!

with common sense to defend it from you people like you.
It's time that you opened up your brain-washed beliefs, to the obvious. Socialism cannot exist without either a solid capitalist system or sheer brutality to support it.
Don't bother answering until you can explain the sudden, highly convenient disparity in the billions of year old evidence of CO2 peeks following Temperature peeks by approx 700 years and not t'other way round.
There is NO scientific evidence for Global Warming.. Where is the evidence?
There are plenty of weather incidences upon which they have pounced and declared to be caused by G.W. because they cannot be disproved by the brain-washed victims. A few Qs:
    1. I struggle with how water was brought by comets. Why not Earths chemistry? Basic chemistry tells us acids & bases combine to form water & salt.
    2. When you leave rain water in a bowl, after time, algae forms. So why isn’t this the same for life to form? Except on a larger scale, a larger bowl, of course.
    3. Why do Americans say “labratory” when it’s pronounced & spelt, “labORatory?” It’s weird & I’m OK with it but I’m curious.
I really enjoy these documentaries, they’re like an art room for my mind to play in.

There's one part about how water got on this planet that I was surprised not to see here. The asteroids that bombarded the Earth did in fact have water in them and that did add some water to the surface, but a lot of it was vaporized and mixed with the toxic atmosphere the earth had at the time. Eventually, it began changing the composition of atmosphere; It also started to rain immensely for ions, helping to cover the earth with water.

This NECESSARILY represents, INVOLVES, AND DESCRIBES what is possible/potential AND actual IN BALANCE. (Importantly, balance and completeness go hand in hand.) I am absolutely not a scientist, but I am as curious about this as you are so I have just began to read a book about the birth of life on earth. It is from 2008, and I don't know whether there have been updates on the topic, but still, this is what I understood:
it is possible that, when subject to energy (electromagnetic), inorganic molecules (minerals and gases) interacted to form simple organic molecules, that is, carbon + other inorganic molecule (es. oxygen), which in turn formed more complex organic molecules such as aminoacids, and -further on- nucleotides (RNA) which were able to replicate.
From these, came prokaryote cell (single-cell organisms w/out nuclei), that is, bacteria; later (2 billion years ago) eucaryote cells (w/ well defined nucleus) , from which plants, fungi, and animals including us.
I am sure it is muuuch more complicated than that and I have surely made a million mistakes in describing this, but this is the general progression of events as I understood it :)
this can be useful too: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenesis

Maybe so but we'll NEVER know! Distances, travel speed and the speed of light very simply rule it out...beyond further argument! And it gets worse with the continuous expansion of the universe.

Earth evolved as a part of Mega-Terra, the terrestrials and Jovian moons, from a disk of about 2.15 earths thrown out by Jupiter along with about 3500 MPH in rotation...

May be life can exist on other plantes.

When did this first air? I remember seeing this on the Discovery channel many years ago, and watching that bag of salt clump up was like seeing the last missing piece of the puzzle snap into place. It was when I stopped believing in god like I had been taught by my parents, and I realized that the Earth was created by gravity not some omnipotent being.
Everything I'd grown up learning for myself, like seeing Cheerios clump together on the surface of a bowl of milk, to taking a jar of contents collected in a stream and shaking it up and watching it all settle with the heaviest on the bottom and the gas at the top. From playing in a somewhat dirty sandbox that had a small amount of clay in it, and shoveling up huge piles in the middle and spraying it all down with a hose and watching the water erode the "mountains" I had made and form "rivers" and "lakes". To watching a couple of spots of oil on the surface of a puddle of water on the street and seeing the oil break up into 'plates' when the water was agitated, and then seeing those 'plates' collide and one slide over the other and create ridges on the surface of the water... It all just clicked. This is how the Earth works.
You take a huge amount of dust and particles in a zero gravity vacuum, and with a little bit of agitation, they move and stick to one another like cheerios in a bowl of milk, only in 3D. It forms balls, and grows in size collecting more and more and more stuff until the particles in the center start getting compacted by immense amounts of pressure, enough to heat up the core. It just keeps going like that collecting more and more stuff until the core doesn't just heat up, it melts. And once it melts things more interesting things start to happen. The heaviest elements sink to the bottom just like shaking up a jar of material collected from a stream. In the Earth's case it's Uranium, followed by Iron, and then other heavy elements on top of that. However as elements float to the surface of the liquid core, they're under less compaction and start to solidify and form plates that float on the surface of the liquid core in a way that's not too dissimilar from the small amounts of motor oil on top of puddles you can see on the road or on the blacktop surface of a schoolyard. Only again, the scale is much, much greater and things move much slower. Yet just how I saw the oil rise up over the other patch of oil on the surface of the puddle in the street, this is still the same way plate tectonics work. This is how mountains rise up out a flat surface. Then you get to the lightest elements in their gaseous form, nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, argon, xenon, all the stuff that makes up the 'air' as we know it. It's really under very minor amounts of pressure with little (if any at all) in the way of compaction. It's the coolest stuff on our planet and it just hugs the surface of the planet because it doesn't have the force to float away from the planets gravitational pull. But the dihydrogen monoxide which is lighter than the dusty mixtures of silicon, iron, carbon, and other elements, is warm enough due to how far we are from our parent star to exist in liquid form as water. Depending on the atmospheric conditions and the tilt the earth on its axis we the surface of the ocean heats up from its exposure to the suns radiation and evaporate into steam, that steam then forms clouds, with then cools the higher it floats up into the air, and condenses back into its liquid form and creates rain, that then falls on the earths mountains and erodes them, rounding off their jagged peaks, and creating rivers, lakes and of course oceans just like I saw when I was playing in the sandbox with a hose.
I had seen it all as a real little kid, but I was in my 20s before I saw this video and all those pieces just clicked together and it made sense.
This is my favorite piece of media I've ever seen because it changed me more than any fictional story, or biography or anything else ever has. I know my understanding is a bit thin in places as far as how the Earth works, but now that I get the general sense of it all, I wonder how anyone could ever have thought what you see in the bible could be considered 'truth'.
Sorry, I know that's a whole lot, I doubt anyone even took the time to read it. I think I wrote it more for me to actually paint the picture one more time because this video is something I can see, and it lines up harmoniously with everything I've ever seen in my life.
