My settings for this were: Hyperlapse mode 3 or 4 second exposure 800 or 400 ISO with a 5 second interval. Set your White balance to 4000k or 4200k

for video I shot D-log at max iso and a 1/30 shutter speed I also did night mode at 12800 and 1/30 shutter speed with white balance at 4200.

Heading to Tromso, Norway in February. Going to try out these settings on the Air 3 with hyperlapse for sure!
Edit: would you recommend using course lock on this and just flying straight?

Wow! I'm jelly. I have a question, Jake. I have flown the Mavic 3 Cine side-by-side with the Air 2S at night in Chicago and was stunned at the difference between the two. IMO, the color science of the Mavic 3 is far superior to the Air 2S. Did you find that the Mavic 3 captured color that your human eye never picked up? And, are there settings on the Mavic 3 that you would recommend for improving video images for those of us who fly city night shots. (I've seen your late night videos in city settings and like them).

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  Рік тому

there is a substantial color difference between the two for sure (hassleblad name comes into play here) for night mode I generally just use what the drone puts out as it's pretty decent overall sometimes I mess with saturation and exposure a tiny bit in post. Everything you saw in the video was straight from the mavic 3 with a bit of noise reduction

@@JakeSloan I bought the Mavic-3 after watching your initial video where you were traveling and weren’t actually able to use the drone.
I moved from the Mavic-2 (pro and zoom models) and Air-2s and have been using the Mavic-3 non-stop for over a year now.
The O3 increased distances, long battery life and the telephoto camera made it a no brainer.
Just wanted to thank you and tell you about an awesome piece of gear that I use (with RC-Pro / Mavic-3)..
The AccSoon Cine-Eye2 is a really well built device that connects to HDMI from the RC-Pro.
It transmits the video/audio signal with high resolution and low latency. It transmits the signal up to 1250’ and
up to 6 concurrent devices. The mobile devices run the free AccSoon app which allow for many viewing and recording options on a device located away from the drone operator..
I use an iPad with OtterBox Defender protective case and carry that in my drone kit.
It uses the Sony NF-P series of batteries and runs for a full day of shooting on one NF-P750 battery..
It’s a real game changer when you can simply hand out an iPad to friends / family / bystanders and ..especially Karens!
Also great for public safety and other situations where the drone operator is located a short distance away and good to keep people from crowding the small RC screen .
Thank you again for all of your reviews and advice.

So inspiring, I'd love to see the lights in person one day (Bucket List). Long trip from Louisiana but worth it, I'm sure. Great video!

Hi @JakeSloan, amazing video!! :) I am wondering if I should get the DJI Mavic 3 Pro or the DJI Air 3 to film the Aurora Borealis in Norway. Do you think both drones would generate the same hyperlapse videos? Could you please tell us which Drone you used and which settings you used? You mentioned that you took the Mavic 3 and the Mavic 3 Pro with you. Thank you very much in advance! Greetings , Chris

I've been meaning to test this out with hyperlapse! Incredible work here. I know it's not easy trying to set up a well composed hyperlapse in the middle of a freezing night, but you nailed it.

What settings did you have it in? I'm guessing night mode.. but what was your ISO, aperture, and shutter speeds? Thank you.

oh man it's been a while but night mode for the video shots, the huyperlapses were 2-4 sec exposures and iso 400-800
