    I saw the Doors on Saturday, July 26, 1969 at the Univ. of Oregon. Other groups on the venue included Young Bloods, Byrds and many more. The warm up performer was a new singer by the name of Alice Cooper. Oh, and the ticket price was $5.

    The Doors were among the most controversial & influential rock acts of the 1960s, mostly due to Jim Morrison's lyrics & voice. They had a lot of hits including "The End", "Light My Fire", "Break On Through (To The Other Side)", "Love Me Two Times", "Roadhouse Blues", "People Are Strange", "Hello, I Love You", "Touch Me", "The Unknown Soldier", "Love Her Madly", "Riders On The Storm". Sadly Jim Morrison died in 1971 at the age of only 27 but left a great legacy of music.

    The scenes with the 1970 white Dodge Challenger is from the film "Vanishing Point".
    The green Mustang (with Steve MacQueen driving) is a 1968 Mustang GT. and was used in the movie "Bullet". In 2020 it sold at auction for $3,740,000.
    The Mustang Jim Morrison drives is a 1968 Mustang Shelby GT500 that he nicknamed "the Blue Lady".. It was totaled in an accident in 1969. It was also the only car Morrison ever owned.

  • @joelmogensen579
    @joelmogensen579 10 місяців тому +2

    I heard Jim was given the Mustang by Elektra Records due to the success of their debut album. Ray opted for a racehorse I believe and John and Robby took musical equipment. The car was a 1967 version of a Mustang GT or 350 Shelby as Jim liked the '65 model owned by his barber Jay Sebring, creator of men's hairstyling who was later murdered by the Manson family at Sharon Tates house. If it still exists somewhere it would probably be worth at least as much as the recently rediscovered Bullit movie car.

    It was a commemorative video put together a decade or so after Morrison’s death. The Lizard King was a tragic and fascinating dude. He was a Navy brat who graduated from High School about five miles from where i am typing this (Alexandria Virginia). He was clearly smart (Wikipedia says he had an IQ of 149, which puts him in the 99 plus percentile.) He also had little self control and was self-destructive. Freaking tragic.
    BTW, LA Woman isn’t in this baby boomer’s top five Doors song.

    Mr. Mojo Risin' is an anagram of Jim Morrison. It was the name he would use to check in to hotels so he wouldn't be bothered by fans. Last year when the wildfires we're raging all around the L.A. area, I thought about the lines in "L.A. Woman" that say;
    "I see your hair is burning
    The hills they are on fire" 🔥🔥🔥
    This song is Jim Morrison saying goodbye to Los Angeles. Even before the L.A. Woman album was finished, Morrison left and moved to Paris. He wanted to write. I really believe that Jim Morrison wanted to settle down in France and become a writer. He never got the chance, he died in the summer of 1971 at the age of 27. He is buried in the Père Lachaise Cemetery, the same cemetery where Oscar Wilde is buried.

But man, with everything I listen to, The Doors are, it, I don’t do a lot of reading, outside of military manuscripts and stories, but I’ve read, anything, and everything Jim Morrison. Guy was a wild man with a wild mind, who created some genuinely beautiful art. His poetry is amazing. Hi Kabir, great song! I could see that you were really getting into it. The Doors had a lot of really great stuff in the late sixties and early seventies, and their varied in style. It was only a four-piece band, guitar, drums and keyboard. The bass was played on the keyboard Jim Morrison only sang ( well to be fair he sometimes played harmonica). He consumed massive quantities of drugs, both off and on stage and was a heavy drinker. Always considered himself a poet rather than a singer. Begin putting on massive amounts of weight, and moved to Paris to work on his poetry. With all the good French food he probably put on a few more pounds. Sadly he was found dead in his bathtub, only twenty-seven years old.

    James Douglas Morrison was the epic Lizard King < HE could do anything! :)
    Very, very intelligent guy! His IQ was 150+ and he started his carrer as film maker student and put out some incredible footage. But he wanted to become a poet ... how to get there in the crazy area of the 60s? Just write songs, perform than in front of an audience and become the biggest american band there was at this time.
    A lot of crazy stuff happend in this period and Jim quit, moved to Paris, France, and became finally the poet he always wanted to be! After he received his dream, he died at the age of 27 as a legend. He is burried on the cementry "Pére-Lachaise" in Paris - wich is btw. not only the last resting place of Oscar Wild, Fréderic Chopin, Jean de la Fontaine, Edith Piaf and others - but also the most visited grave on the yard on the most known cementry in the world!
    You should check out the Oliver Stone's movie "The Doors" to get some background information about Jim and The Doors. The movie is full of quotes and songs! Very well made, btw. Jim is very well played by Val Kilmer!
    Maybe you do US viewers a favour and react to the trailer of the movie!?! o_O

    This is not a song about a girl. but rather the city of Los Angeles California. (Where the Doors are from) Morrison considered himself a poet first, and Rock front man second. And yes, Jim Died at 27 yrs. old after only about 4 years of superstardom from 1967 to 1970. Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, also Rock legends at the same time period, also died at age 27 like Morrison. They have all been dubbed members of the infamous "27 club." Very strange circumstances, but they all died of alcohol, and or drug overdoses, at the age of 27. Movies have been made of all of their lives. You really should dive into the Doors music catalogue; it will blow your mind. Some of the best Rock/ Blues/psychedelic music ever recorded. The 1960s and 70s was the best music ever. That's why it's called "Classic Rock."

    Love this one. You should really react to the 1991 movie, "The Doors" starring Val Kilmer as Jim Mossison, the bands front man.

    You know why the 70s were better? Because you lived in the moment, 100%. You didn't sit around watching TikToks and Instagrams of what other people were doing. Nobody had a video camera when you hung out. Nobody was going to shoot a video for "likes". What you did, you did right then...lived it and loved it, because when it was over it was over. Then you planned your next "whatever" you were going to do, and do soon. You DID things...you didn't watch videos of other people doing things...etc etc etc.

      in other words it wasnt narcissitic & voyeuristic to the degree we live now. also less adhd riddled wh/ is what perma time on a phone can do. literal rewiring of your brain.... people found their own genuine self & identity & then lived it w/ others.

      I'm just so happy that I grew up in the 60s and 70s when kids could just be kids and play, and teenagers actually spent quality in-person time together. It creates better memories. And not a bunch of uptight people, everyone handled business, women were women and men were men. It's become a soft but angry world. I'd go back to that time in a heartbeat. It's hard to explain to those who didn't come of the era before social media, and sadly for them they will never know. We are the lucky ones.

    Kabir, I've been a hard core Metal Head since I was around 8yo. Over the years I've learned to expand my musical pallet with lesser more obscure bands like 'Pomplamoose'. You might want to take 'Bonnie Raitt' for a spin. Not quite Country, not quite Folk but I dig her.
