This is such a perfect time to tell this story with all the buzz around Barbie and Oppenheimer. Wild that Gerwig and Safdie’s careers come from the same place
I only knew of 368 from casey opening his studio space/creator hub there. Didn't realise it had such a strong background, or how many other creators came out of there previously! That's amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for making this. I was in the building on the 2nd floor and the 4th floor from 2014 - 2017 as a filmmaker. There is so much more that has happened during that time you can't fit into a single video
I had the privilege of hanging out with Van a couple months ago. It was crazy to hear these stories straight from the source. Love to see that there's a video that details that part of film history. Thank you for making this!! Keep going man this video was amazing :)
Thank you Ryan for the kind words. It really means a lot as I''ve been a big fan of your channel for a while now. Your style is extremely captivating! It has inspired me to give this youtube thing another try. Can't wait to see where the youtube new wave will go next! That must have been such a cool experience meeting Van - he's definitely one of the most mythical characters in the Diane Fink universe.
I recently started taking walking tours of New York after realizing I've been living here for almost 4 years, and yet I know nothing of it's history. This gave me the giddy feelings of just finishing a tour, so thank you!
Did you do this all on your own? Wow that is really inspiring, I went onto your channel to see if you had more videos but this was the only one on! Really great to see you've started already with such great potential, hoping to see where your channel goes next
I met Casey by accident on Monday last week while running on the Brooklyn Bridge (first day in NYC after 4 years) and passed by 368 on Friday of the same week (last day in NYC for who knows how long), this is sooo on time. He is the reason why I’m on YT. The BareMinimum show along with folks like SideTalk are now up next to define the next 10 years of the platform.
A few weeks back, a friend told me about 368 Broadway's fascinating history and suggested it could be a documentary subject. Today, I stumbled your video on my UA-cam feed about it. I shared it with my friend, and he amusingly said, "Man. I remember telling you guys that this would be a cool doxu but in true yt fashion I now think this is a cool UA-cam video."
absolutely loved this man!! such an amazing story and breakdown of what happened. crazy to think one building / place had such a big role in all these filmmakers careers. getting a bunch of creative like-minded people together solely for the goal to create is powerful. and it def feels like history is starting to repeat itself :)
Thank you @WickedStew! I loved an oklahoma summer, it really embodied to me what the youtube new wave is all about, beautifully crafted and heartfelt. History may not exactly repeat itself, but it certainly rhymes! Can't wait to see your future endeavors!
Absolutely fantastic video. Watching this, I saw a pile of loose threads bound together into a tightly-wound rope - several people and places I vaguely knew were associated, but didn’t quite know how, until now. In nine minutes, you gave unifying context to media, content, and creators I’ve enjoyed for more than a decade, and then extended that story back to century-old origins. Incredible work.
You did a superb job presenting this topic. You also answered questions I had regarding 368. I can't wait to see what your channel is going to be like a year from now. Here's to your future success! 👊😉👍
Thank you for the kind comment @realChannelZ! I checked out our channel and wow - your editing is top notch. It's super original and engaging, plus I loved your BlackRock content. Cheers to your continued and future success too!
I met 2 life friends here and after 4 years of not going to the US I’m going back right there end of this month, 368 Broadway changed my life in a way and I’m thankful for that :)
Thanks Max! I've loved seeing your evolution on youtube - you have a unique voice on this platform. There's something really special going on with the youtube new wave!
This is a masterpiece. One of the best short films I’ve seen in ages. Unbelievable props to you !! You are truly part of the next generation of this 368 lineage
Great first upload! I knew of 368 from Casey but had no idea of the other prolific artist. This vid was reccomended to me… proof the UA-cam algo DOES work for discovering new channels. For the record, I was viewer 48,000 when this channel only had 738 subs. Keep it up!
You did a truly amazing job on this - the production, pacing, story and delivery are all excellent. You're gonna really pop off if you keep this up best of luck mate
It seems like 368 is the modern Bateau-Lavoir. It housed todays' video versions of Apollinaire, Juan Gris, Georges Braque and Picasso. Interesting and well presented. Continue!
It is important to keep in mind how much luck factors into this equation. Looking back at these and other people’s careers, it can appear it was all achieved by design and it can become easy and convenient to believe that “If I do stuff, people will notice how interesting my sensibilities are and will gravitate towards my work, which will propel me further”, but that’s just not true. Now more than ever before, there are hordes of people shooting and uploading stuff, hoping to emulate these creators’ paths. But the truth is that the more people going after this, the more luck you’ll need to get noticed. It has never been this easy to make movies, but it has never been this hard to have a career doing it.
Interesting point, also privilege for sure played a considerable factor in their success. "It has never been this easy to make movies, but it has never been this hard to have a career doing it." Amen
If we are talking about NY/Hollywood you need that trust fund and cocaine conections sorry I mean networking 😂, if we talking about UA-cam just talk about negative stuff every or be abenoxious as possible to entertain the kids
loved the deep diving you did into this building, its crazy to see how it all started, only visited 368 twice and was able to meet nico, sam and henry. overall amazing vid.
And the two biggest films of the summer, Oppenheimer and Barbie. One is directed and co-written by an alumni of The Diane Fink School of Filmmaking. And the other stars an alumni.
Wow.. I think I might have been your 1,000th subscriber. Feeling lucky to be here this early! Your videos are great. This was awesome, up up up from here! Keep it going!
Loved this. Going out and filming something; there's something beautiful in that. Thank you for telling the lesser known stories of this building. Here's to the future of it!
This was really great concept and well executed short doc. I had no idea so many big players came out of that building. My intro was, like you, because of Casey. Great video! Look forward to seeing more from you!
Love the Portland Shirt! Im spending more and more time in NY finding myself but I live in Portland for the time being but the plan is for sure Manhattan or Brooklyn! in fact I'm visiting next week just to film content and enjoy the start of the fall season!
Damn this budeo so cool and never thought about these many filmmakers coming from the diane fink school of filmmaking beautiful video hats off to you dude.

Well done! Literally heard Van say on a podcast the other day “somebody needs to make a documentary about this”
Haha, I heard that same podcast, and was like wtf, I should try youtube again
