Amanda Plays Sims is also doing this challenge. She rolls to see how they died as well. And if they roll a disease, she also does a death roll for everybody else in the family.
Oh that's so sad to think of 😢 That's an interesting take! I might give it a try once we've established enough sims 😅 For now, I'm scared we're about to lose them all before we even get to the famine 🫣
I’m so disappointed that For Rent didn’t, and still doesn’t work for the very reasons you gave. I wanted to be able to make little communities on the large lots so that I could control all of the Sims, but have separate money, etc. I haven’t bought it and I’ve seen people trying to use it recently and it still was causing a ton of build buy problems (and if you’re trying to make money as a landlord, that doesn’t really work either, but apparently it works a little better than it did.) For the main family, you can always increase the number of Sims allowed on the lot if you want them to have more than six kids (or get some horses, dogs, cats, etc) with MCCC (you might even be able to do it with the regular cheat box, I’m not sure!
It's so sad about For Rent; it had so much promise! And at this point, it really doesn't seem like they're that committed to fixing it 😭At some point I'll end up raising the household limit, but it always makes me nervy around the patches when mods have to come out and there's so much to update that some things might get missed 😓 One time I wasn't paying attention after a patch and opened the save only to have everyone age up and pass from this world 😂 They were recovered, but... 🫣 By the way, I meant to ask if you're playing UDC and if you are how far you've made it? I'm always really interested in where others have gotten to!

I’m not playing an UDC, and actually just stumbled onto the entire concept recently when one came up in my feed and it struck my curiosity about how in the world someone would be able to do that and not have Nancy Landgraab start cowpoke dancing over at their houses! I haven’t seen anyone have problems with larger family sizes (except you have to be careful about CAS cause it will make Sims in your house disappear, you just have to go in it in a specific way.) But, Idk how Darius’s wife (blanking on her name!) is managing!!! Total nightmare. There is a mod that allows kids to garden and do “work” like on all of the farm animals…but you have plenty of mods, and it adds to the drama. Right now I’m enjoying watching other people play, and thinking about it. I really like the rules you use and alterations and additions you made. I’ve noticed that once the families get so big and branch off, it becomes really difficult to remember who in the world anyone is, and the whole episode is basically making the rounds to age people up and get others married, etc etc. It seems like a good idea to figure out how many you can manage, keep some in reserve (like in an unplayed household somewhere else) and stick to the smaller # of people. Since you haven’t increased the household size and Gen 2 is about 8 kids, that’s more manageable maybe from the start (might be a good idea to NOT increase the household size!!)
😂 That's part of my thinking about household size too. It can get really overwhelming when the birthdays stack up! I think eventually some sims have to get left on the side lines, but deciding who and when is a tough one! 🤣🤣 I don't know about anyone else, but Nancy Landgraab was one of the first to disappear in my save file. She just... doesn't fit in the past. And not with all her random dancing, stargazing, showing up she always does 🤭 Oh my goodness, poor Sif 😩 she was really going through it... tbh, she wasn't exactly my favorite character when she first joined the household, but she was a boss and really held everything together. These sims have really carried this whole challenge themselves...
@@PlumbobsandthePast lol, every celebrity, particularly Judith Ward, would get MCCC’d by the meteor immediately for me! Sif grew on me as well! Your Sims are just interesting…and I like that you have the patience and tolerance of letting them make choices that could have a lot of consequences you didn’t foresee! That’s a good thought, to micromanage my Sims less and let them tell the story more (with the help of MCCC having them do stuff beyond play games on the computer 🙄.)

I kind of think that's why the sims are interesting, because they're the ones telling the story themselves (thank you MCCC, thank you) My one brain can only think of so many things, but the sims? Great episode as always! Poor Leanne though and that poor family! I love the idea of a reason to have to clear out all the food as when I started this challenge I was base game only and so I just harvested whenever and that built a lot of food storage before the famine which meant the famine really just passed me by with little impact. I have seasons and other packs now and it definitely makes a difference.
I hear that! Sometimes in the game it feels a little too easy to be successful, but definitely seasons helps out a little with that. How far are you in your challenge now?
I'm trying to adapt it for sims 2... I haven't worked out how to handle food because I'm refusing to order groceries, they have to stock the fridge to be able to cook. And they can only harvest each plant once after 5 in game days...
God the Brewer family is unlucky. I cant help but wonder if Harlan is regretting his decision, all the tragedy… Are you sure you updated every mod? I havé to say, for me for rent work more as a tenant than a owner. I dont know if being the owner is the issue tho

How hard it has to be for him, losing so much 😞 I updated all the mods, but I know that MCCC says there might still be issues that haven't been identified. I finally discovered that while the lot is now categorized as residential, the icon still says residential rental and it shows the previous unit information from when it was residential rental, so I'm not sure how to get around that... It's very peculiar. I'm glad for rent is working at least as a tenant!
Sadly, we don't know. Even more sadly, marriages at that age for noble ladies was pretty common too 😔 According to what I've read though, for Edward II and Isabella, they didn't consummate the marriage for several years at least, so that's something I guess. It was definitely a tough time to be a lady!

Sorry the Smooth Sailing milestone reflection is so funny for Darius. This man is the ultimate optimist he's like yeah my first wife died and my second wife's brother is my soulmate BUT! No actual cheating and no breakups! Like okay my guy, you find those silver linings... ...And then he woo-hoo'd with his wife's brother anyway. RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW 💀 Anytime you say something like "if you wanna know an interesting fact about this time period" like at 20:37 I'm just like. Uh. Yeah. Hit me wit that knowledge 😂 I've honestly never had any difficulty with extending the maximum household beyond 8 with MC Command, so I know YMMV with mods, but it's not something to be nervous about imo I'm kind of really distraught over Leanne. I was so tense through the wailing and Grim said NO anyway like come ON..... Dovile wasn't enough for you, you needed her daughter too...... It was nice to have the rest of the episode and its normalcy (for what that's worth with this crazy family. Maybe "non-deadly" is better adjective for the state I'm thinking of LOL) to recover from Leanne's death. I understand taking a break cos man that hurt.
Losing Leanne was so so rough... it was the beginning of a trend that continues on and on, and I'm beginning to worry it might be a curse of some kind... like, we're good with pleading *except*...
