...Taribo West was in Zaria in 2001...He was the first ever VIP to be allowed to use the Mamman Kontagora Square at Ahmadu Bello University. When the car that brought him entered that Square, for over 10 minutes, he couldn't get out of the car because of the crowd. The Campus went wild with excitement, with spontaneous shouts of West...Taribo West...! He also visited the Emir's Palace in Zaria City where he recieved a Royal welcome and unhindered access to the Emir of Zazzau. Everywhere he went, Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria Stadium, both Moslems and Christians adored and loved him. Such was the power and influence Taribo West had on the people. Our church, Faithway, hosted him. That was a weekend the City of Zaria will always remember...
TariboWest! You were a role model for many around South Africa. You commitment and dedication to the game inspired a lot of youth including myself at the time. Much Love legend!
I am a GHANAIAN 🇬🇭 and the other time I saw a taxi with the inscription TARIBO WEST in my city Ashaiman. I felt goosebumps instantly. I am a newbie. I didn't see TARIBO WEST play but I heard Henry talk about him and I checked him out
Absolutely. Taribo was a baaad man. He was a starter in Auxerre, Inter Milan and AC Milan alongside players like Laurent Blanc, Ronaldo, and Vieri, at a time where African's struggled to play consistent minutes in top football clubs.
One love Bro!! He was a great in Inter Milan Jersey. Later AC Milan poached him. Now due to Italian FA local plan to encourage local players , there was a mandatory number of Italian players to be featured in a match then. Irrespective of the aray of foreign players in a team.. Taribo was so good and important to the AC Milan team that they handed him Italian citizenship, such that he will have full playing time. Taribo rejected this. He was great in many ways. The Italian football fans loved his Humility how he used to hang out with fans, they were astonished that he did not even see himself as a big big star as the world saw him then. Particularly Italians.
I met Mr West when I was a boy living in Plymouth, England. I was starstruck because I remembered him from his prime years and also from me always signing him in Championship Manager 01/02. 17 years later, I met him again because my girlfriend's grand aunt, who used to work as a missionary, happened to be married to the archbishop of Nigeria and they were doing church work in my place of origin. Small world.
This is a good documentary the quality is amazing, good Animation as well, I already subscribed and forwarded the clips to a friend & a family member urging them to subscribe
This content is amazing, WOW! I want to hear more of his story! Love the animation and Taribo is a great communicator. Hope this channels grows bigger & bigger as you guys definitely deserve it ❤👏🏾
This has provided an insight into why you were such a tenacious warrior of a player. You were one of the few super eagles players that gave 110% all the years you doned the green white green. Where is the full interview?
Athlst I left a comment commending the channel and encouraging it to continue. This is fantastic. We are a great sporting nation and need a platform such as this!
This is the full documentary, Lol. Life+Times is designed to be a Micro-Doc - not more than 15 minutes long, spotlighting one or two areas in a players life. Perhaps sometime in the not too distant future we can explore an extended documentary on Taribo. Glad you asked. And I hope you've subscribed to the channel.
@@ATHLST...Just keep doing your best. Your strong advantage is mixing your interviews with clips and footages of the players, thereby making it interesting to watch. Well done!
Life+Times was designed to be a Micro-Doc (15 minutes or less). Perhaps we can look into telling a more comprehensive story on Taribo West in the near future. Thanks for the question. And I hope you've subscribed.
I love taribo and our ex-internationals who has made us proud at one time or the other, and not this present super chickens that are playing in our teams that I can say are not natural talents but learnt how to play football .
