A Note from Bob: The official price (at the time of taping) of the A100 is $199. There is currently 50% off coupons/discounts, bringing the actual price down to around $100. Prices and offers may change, so find your best deal if you are interested in this component!
Great info and a sweet workspace. Thanks! My kid in TX was wanting some heat when the winter storm brought the grid down! Sometimes Heat good, fire bad.
Douk Audio has been releasing some killer shit here lately! I seen another video on this thing yesterday & I like it! I'd love to have that new dac with the 2 different chips too. Another great video bud. 👍🏻
Just an Observation- Maybe you spent too much time in the back of a 70s Dodge A100 Hippie Van!!!! Just Recieved my VU3 PRO , VERY NICE Don't really need this , I believe my Pioneer SX1280 And my Marantz 2265 will handle the Sound Duties!! Keep up the Great work
Checked the Douk/NobSound website .... The power and distortion figures they're quoting are right in line with what I know the TPA3255 chip can do on my test bench. So, finally, they're figuring out that we're going to second guess them... and offering honest specs.
Sounded good to me, but I didn't want to spend a bunch of time breaking down the sound of a $100 amp. The sound of most amps in this class is pretty similar. I think it's more about price, usage, form factor etc. Just wanted to let you know it was available! Thanks!
@@UnitedStatesofAnalog No worries. These TPA3255 amps are pretty much alike. They're going to be a lot more alike than different. Most of the difference is, indeed, in the features they're tacking onto the basic amplifier design.
When you bridge a stereo amp, its not a mono block. Its a bridged stereo amp. In bridged mode, the amp sees half the impedance of whatever your speaker normally is. If you have an 8 ohm speaker, its now a 4 ohm speaker. You really don't want to bridge an amp unless you have to. The amp has to work a lot harder to drive a 4 ohm speaker, over an 8 ohm speaker. If you get 2, I would leave them in stereo mode and do a vertical biamp. You'll get more power, but not as much as bridged. The upside is you better sound quality, and you're not beating the crap out of the amp. If you're not happy with the vertical biamp for some reason, you can always set them to mono. I would at least try it both ways.
@@cpta03 More than reasonable. The TPA3255 is a really good Class-D amplifier on a chip. The low prices do not indicate low quality or low function, in this case. The low price is primarily the result of low parts counts (amp on a chip), mass production and the noteworthy absence of the typical "Audiophile Markup".
No, no, no - iit's $199 and then you take 50% off of that. I just bought one and it cost me $99. How did your ever come to the conclusion that the retail price of that was $399 - c'mon mannnn? It's $199 with a 50% off coupon, making it under $100 - sigh... Also - how about some comments about how it sounds? Ever since Fosi Audio started releasing their line with higher quality components such as the V3, ZA3, and V3 Mono's, others have followed suit (i.e. Aiyima A07 Max and A70 and this Douk A100). I do wish that the Doul A100 also had balanced inputs (like the ZA3, V3 Mono's and the Aiyima A70), thus making it more open to different types of audio components. But it is what it is, I suppose. Will try this out (should arrive today as of this writing), and will change out the Op Amps for the wonderful Sparkos Labs SS3602 versions which are the subject of some fantastic reviews.
I really think many of these units sound very similar... same chip etc. It's really difficult to dissect the sound. At this price and usage scenarios, I'm not sure it matters. I enjoyed the sound. I can't pick a best in class of $100. Just have fun! Thanks for watching!
@@UnitedStatesofAnalog A friend asked me "What do these amplifiers sound like" ... I replied "Like amplifiers". The TPA3255, when done right, produces a very neutral sound. It's pretty close to the "wire with gain" analogy.
This thing is limping on too many thoughts and it has no balanced inputs. I do like the heatsink case. Other manufacturers should copy that and not forget to add cooling paste.
You should check to see if you can get one of these with balanced inputs. When you bridge an amp, the signal has to be balanced. The input on this amp is already balanced.

always fun to watch - whether you're in your bar area or your suite
…..my beautiful 1st gen VU-3 just arrived this afternoon! ✨
Wonderful!🌹
Gotta love those "from the desk of..." shots with a demo. Great video Bob, thanks man.
Thanks, Man!

Thanks! Messed up the pricing a little! It IS $100 currently!
You, my friend, have built your own FunFi Empire! Great video as usual Bob.
Thanks FFE!
This thing reminds me of the OG Lepai 😄
The Ugly under the workbench amp in the garage 😂
@@crazyprayingmantis5596 I have a Lepai class-t from yesteryear.... this is much heftier! But you are right!

Sweet suite
It's working pretty well! Maybe I'll do more vids up there!

It appears the price is $199, and with the 50% coupon, the cost is only 100 bucks.
$317 in Canada with 50% redeemable coupon on Amazon.
$100 for this amp is reasonable.
You are correct, sir! There is a 50% coupon in play. Sorry for the confusion!
