    Cherry Blossoms
The cherry blossom (sakura) has been celebrated in Japan for many centuries and holds a very particular place in Japanese culture. Although there are many varieties of cherry tree in Japan, most bloom for just a couple of days in spring.
    www.japanspecialist.co.uk/tra...
Aoyama Cemetery - Japan's first public cemetery
Located in the chic neighborhood of Aoyama is the sprawling Aoyama Cemetery. Opened in 1874, it is home to the graves of many of Tokyo’s most historically and culturally important people, and during the Meiji Period it was the main location for a large number of foreigners’ graves.
Although there are still funerals held on a regular basis in the cemetery, it is open to the public, and is a pleasant place to walk around. The park is full of cherry trees, and in spring the area does become a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing parties.
    www.gotokyo.org/en/spot/432/i...
Hie Jinja - The shrine that watched over pre-modern Tokyo
A short walk from the Imperial Palace grounds, Hie Jinja is held in high reverence by the people of Tokyo, enshrining a deity that has long been designated the city’s protector. The grounds and the surrounding area come alive in June for the annual Sanno Festival, among the three largest in Japan. You can easily combine a visit to the Hie Jinja with attractions in Akasaka.
    www.gotokyo.org/en/spot/343/i...
Kudanshita Station is best known as the nearest station to such historic landmarks as the Nippon Budokan, which was built for the judo competition at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. The hilly area, which literally translates to "bottom of nine steps," is located to the north of the Imperial Palace.
    www.gotokyo.org/en/story/walk...
Kitanomaru Park - A natural, cultural and historical oasis in central Tokyo
Once the residence of the powerful Tokugawa clan, this woodland park has been a haven for walkers, couples and visitors since opening to the public in 1969.
The park encompasses the Budokan, famous as a martial arts training center and concert venue. Nearby is the National Museum of Modern Art and its craft gallery as well as the Showa Memorial Museum.
Nature, history and culture in one place
Once part of the Edo Castle grounds, the park retains several original gates and sections of the moat. The pond is the focal point of Kitanomaru, and a small brook plays hide-and-seek among the trees. If you need a culture fix, check out the National Museum of Modern Art or the science museum housed within.
A vision of cherry blossoms and autumn leaves
During the spring, Kitanomaru Park is a wonderful spot for a picnic under pink cherry blossoms or for gazing at the rowboats floating in the moat (and you can rent a rowboat if you like). Toward the west side of the park you'll find Momiji-en, a garden of maple trees that turn fiery red in the fall. Around the pond are several huge gingko trees adorned with bright golden leaves from late November to early December.
A wide variety of wild birds
Keep your eyes open for the local wildlife, since the garden is also a wild bird sanctuary, with lots of berry-laden trees and bushes scattered around to tempt feathery visitors to stay.

    Chidori-ga-fuchi Moat
    Tokyo's postcard-perfect cherry blossom spot
A 700-meter-long lush green walkway along the moat of the Imperial Palace, and one of the top spots in Tokyo for viewing cherry blossoms, visit Chidori-ga-fuchi Moat between late March and early April for pastel pink views.
Flanked by hundreds of sakura trees of differing varieties, the moat is draped in pink by the blossoms during cherry blossom season.

Man this is perfect! I don't want to be sleeping (cannot), I don't want to be laying idly (so depressing), but I don't wanna be super active (too tired). I just need a space to think (like a walk), but it needs to be cosy and inspiring. This was perfect for this. Thank you!

It's weird because it looks so East European but also like a video game (especially Mirror's Edge). It does look a lot more dull than I expected. The roads are really clean and well maintained though... could use a bit more greenery and liveliness, a bit more color and 'outspoken' architecture imo.

15:08 Why did the truck on the right turn on all 4 blinkers when he finished changing lanes? I always assumed it was to thank the driver behind for letting him merge, but there was nobody closely behind him.

    • @TOKYOSMITH
      @TOKYOSMITH  3 роки тому +2

Thanks for watching! Your assumption is right. There must have been another car behind him although my camera didn't capture him. Trucks in Japan often do that 'thank you' thing even when other cars are not right behind them.
