lost over the last 20 years, is the person willing to work hard for long hours in the outdoors...it is a matter of "mind over matter"...its harder to find a person that spends more time outdoors in general. I believe the kids that were no longer interested in playing outdoors or getting involved in outdoor recreation such as playing baseball or football, found more instant stimulation/gratification playing video games in air conditioned surroundings...are the same adults that now will not work outdoors for long hours no matter what an owner pays them!
Outdoor jobs got saturated with people who will work dirt cheap in the sun because they shouldn't be here to begin with. When i worked landscaping for a family friend's business we would put "ONLY SPEAKS ENGLISH" on our flyers so the customers knew we were white. Sounds messed up, i know, but it worked in nicer neighborhoods. So yes, teenagers are going to find a job in retail these days over a landscaping job. Walmart overnight starts off 16.50$ an hour where i live. Most landscaping jobs start at 12 or 12.50$. Tell me where you'd rather start.
Mike this video is spot on. I have actually talked to robotic reps about the residential idea you brought up. If I could buy three mowers. Set them and then do trimming and return back to pick them up that would be a value to me. Issue that makes it cost prohibited is that you have to have one mower per property. I have also noticed that you can make it work with commercial properties of a certain size. What would you think the return on invest time should be? I have been moving into electric equipment for 4 years now getting eye rolls from other pros. Now I am getting questions about how to implement it.
Damn phenomenal. Bits & pieces of labor done robotically is not a bad idea. workers will still keep their job of course. it'll just be great maintenance! Smart. Smart. Smart.
My vision is to join Augusta, learn the business, and have it running in the background while I build softscapes and hares capes like BL Landscapes. This way money won’t be my main motive
If you were to choose one software on the market right now for lawn care, which one would you choose ? I know you’re developing your own but I’m curious to know which one you’d currently choose. I’d say probably Service Titan or Real Green.
Residential mowers are definitely a viable option for wealthier customers. I work with a guy who has about 10 robot mowers on complicated lawns on all their properties. so I don’t have to do that. Instead I focus on edging, trimming, and maintaining beds.
I've been thinking of investing in cooling type of equipment that could be used by workers so they can handle the heat or even some form of mechanical attachments that will help bending over, lifting heavy equipment, etc.
I personally don't think I'll ever have a robot lawn mower. I'm in FL and we mow 9 months out of the year at a weekly schedule and the 3 "off" months are bi weekly. We have to do different patterns each week to keep from ruts. So unless I can program vertical, or angled cuts it would leave ruts after a couple of months...
I believe once Graphene becomes cheaper to make it's going to upend the battery industry. Graphene I believe graphine will be one of those super materials and is everywhere unlike rare earth elements. If you haven't seen anything on graphine check it out.
Completely agree with cost of electric units not making sense yet. The other concern I have with electric mowers is battery life. If I can’t mow full-speed all day long with one charge, it’s not gonna happen.
I don't see that EVER happening their will ALWAYS be guys with a cheap lawn mower and a trimmer working his way up in the industry. Their ain't nothing a computer can do that I cant do on a sheet of paper and a calculator. I started my business with less than $100 when I was 14-15, And honestly I would hate to see the lawn mowing and landscaping industry be any other way. If your willing to work hard and put in all the effort you shouldn't need a million dollars to get started. What your saying is ridiculous! I have read about guys starting mowing lawns with equipment they got for free and fixed it up. I think the biggest threat is the economy. Not everyone wants to mow lawns but when the economy crashes and people are looking for a way to feed their kids and they are standing in the garage looking for a way to provide for their family that lawn mower is looking pretty attractive to them. And then you end up in a situation where the market demand is for mowing will support 4-5 companies and over 100 people listed in the paper all looking to mow someones lawn. Most of those people who have jumped in at the wrong time will quickly jump out of the industry after they spent thousands on advertising and didn't find any customers. But even the big companies suffer as customers are strapped for cash and are trying to find the cheapest guy out of a hundred, So even if you get the phone call your odds of closing the sale are zilch.
I have just started a lawn care service on a shoestring..My philosophy is to start with nothing but a 4 year old zero turn, a second hand strimmer which works fine even though I haven’t a clew how to use it and a €100 blower. What you say makes a lot of sense and I am one of those starting at the very bottom and enjoying every moment of it here in Ireland.
Theres a robotic lawn company in my area offering robot mwers for $50 per month and no installation fee. Im really interested and thinking about doing it. The company is called botbot robots, I w ould love to know what you think!
Hey i practice my english because im from PR and only have 3 month in FL please can you do subtitles in spanish i dont now some words please and i apreciate and im your fan
Robotics on a traditional mower is a dead end IMO. What is is really saving you? 50% of your labor? They won't be able to mow undulation, won't be able to work is poor weather conditions, won't be able to sense the water leaks and make a huge mess, won't be able to detect projectiles, won't be able to go over 3mph. Will need an unbelievable amount of security redundancies. They are over solving the problem. I'll still need a trailer to hall it, tires on that tailer, license, big truck to pull trailer. Better robotic solutions out there.
not even close, they want to make mowers for commercials, here in cali small lawn areas with a lot of turns, so it isnt happening withing the next 40 years
It’s renewable. The means of producing that electricity will become better. Fossil fuels does have a finite quantity. I agree 💯 that right now it is not “better” for the environment as an aggregate
I think trading is easier with proper guidance, especially from a proffessional it really helps reduce the chances of running into losses. All thanks to Mr Charles Wagner. He changed my life, I was able to pay off my mortgage
They can easily make a robot that effectively trims simple trees. The problem is creating a product that is cost effective to a consumer Aka not having to spend $500k on a robot like that haha. So that means tree trimmers and complicated lawn tasks are here to stay for a long time
@@MikeAndes Yeah not sure what he's talking about. I much prefer interacting with a machine than a person, for repetitive tasks, because they just work most of the time. That is, assuming it was developed well.
tesla is nowhere near the cutting edge of battery technology , and moores law has been dead for over 10 years. batteries have also plateaud. it's literally impossible for battery power to be cheaper.

Great subject. Great video. Thanks!
Have you ever helped a business owner in another industry, franchise their business?

As long as the perimeter GPS coordinates were accurate enough… the direction of stripes could be varied ✅

Dude, you are brilliant.
What are you guys doing for your franchisees that are working in areas where gas blowers are being completely banned?
Not going to lie, I have been pleasantly surprised by the EGO backpack blowers

Is there any company building a 30" battery push mower ?
Yes there are a few
Yeah they’ve been saying this for 15 years already
Good video but brevity please. Thank you!
I cannot wait for big electric mowers. Yet still want my gas trucks.

the industry ain't changed in 50 years brotha
Which means it is RIPE 😅
you keep assuming people are going to allow , or even ethically use robot providers.
Why wouldn't they?
TeslaBot!

Bingo
robotics ?? not likely ... people allready avoid self checkout. a person isn't an unecessary expense to be eliminated.
As a consumer, I highly prefer self checkout. The vast majority of studies prove this for millennials
