Thanks. I am pleased to hear you found my video helpful. It is technique I use often when using Flashabou for bodies and to blend with marabou and fur tails. Cheers, Phil.
Thanks Shea, glad to hear you enjoyed the video. I use the folding technique on a variety of materials, particularly Flashabou and Crystal Flash for bodies like I show here or when tying along side marabou tails and the like. it also works well when tying in round rubber hackle on hoppers etc.
I so enjoy your videos.I am limited to shore fishing and roll cast with a strike indicator. Can you recommend a fly line type to use.Perhaps a video on total leader rig.Thankyou.
Hi Dan, thanks for the kind words regarding my videos. I like to use a line such as RIO's Indicator Extreme or Salmon Trout Indicator line. These lines are specifically designed with a line profile that helps cast strike indicators and weighted flies. As for leaders in our soon to be released Stillwater Fly Fishing app we have a specific tip focusing on indicator set up. I use, for the most part, a 10' RIO Indicator leader and then add fluorocarbon tippet to complete the leader. The Indicator leader features a short butt section and quickly tapers into level tippet. It is critical to have level thin diameter tippet/leader between your indicator and fly so it sinks directly below your indicator. A standard tapered leader's butt section is too long so the leader doesn't sink at the same rate along its length. I hope this helps. Thanks, Phil
Hi John, I use Loon's UV curing light. Other UV lights should work but you have to test them as the light frequencies on some differ. Thanks again for watching.
Hey Phillip, I only have this hook in Size 6 do you sell it in your shop. Have you had many things get lost in the mail? I only had one lost but it was April Volkey's Rhea feathers. I did eventually receive them but they were damaged. I was able to use most of it because of course we cut the fibers off. All the best, Sean
+Sean Mooney Hi Sean, the only hooks we sell are the #8 jig hooks. I would recommend using Canadian Llama as he has a full range of the Daiichi hooks Brian and I like to now use. For the Chromie and other chironomid patterns using scud hooks I use the Daiichi 1120. Kent there also has an excellent selection of beads and cones. When it comes to orders from our store, touch wood, we have never had any order not make it to its destination. We use the postal service and most orders to the states take between 7-10 business days barring any unforeseen delays due to our two respective postal services or US Customs. If something did happen, damage or a package did go missing we would take care of you to your satisfaction. Cheers, Phil
Starting the Flashabou around the bobbin/thread made me drop my jaw; that will be such a time and effort saver!
Thanks.

Great instructional video! Especially liked the method where you fold the flashabou over the thread to tie on to the hook!

As ALWAYS, great instruction, thanks !!
Great tip with the Flashabou and Glue PR!

Love this fly!
Lance Dean Thanks Lance, it is one my favourites too.
Great video. Thanks. What light do you recommend for setting the Loon UV clear fly finish.

Thank you!
Phil-- Do you ever static bag this fly and if so at what stage of the tying?--Amos Garrett
