@@thechappist I gave up on the book 😂😂 it was too wordy to focus on I just ended up drifting and only reading a page at a time. Now it's just on my shelf, barely read. I'm sure it's good, it just couldn't capture my focus enough 😂
One of but a handful of fragments of early 21st century writing discovered on a highly radioactive Amazon Kindle in the year 3911 AD, Richard Ayode's Ayoade on Top provides post-Fall historians (or "retrosticians") with powerful evidence of the existence of "moving pictures". Finally decoded in full nearly a century later following the discovery of a Rotokas-English dictionary, View from the Top's beloved plotline becomes the basis of a new genre of jet-based theatre. While Ayoade's true name has long since been lost to bit rot, such was his shimmering genius that his very image is lifted from the front cover and hand-copied pixel by pixel onto vellum. This becomes the centrepiece of the Ṩꝑlurgꭄꭑ; an art museum occupying the site of deposed warlord (and hyper-intelligent cockroach) Ṭ'ȹexļ the Gargantuan's cavernous tyre fortress. Nearby Xø̈viʐ' University becomes the global centre of Critical Bruno Barreto Studies, a field revolutionised twenty five years later by the discovery of a promo screener of One Tough Cop on VHS at the bottom of an ash pile.
That autocue thing he was using was the culprit. Notice how much he slowed down twice? He’d never do that if he wasn’t reading from a wonky teleprompter.
A gentleman and a scholar. I'm thankful that space has appeared in my diary so that I can now read this book that was a Christmas present . A reputably equally brilliant film ( was it an influence? ) is en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todas_las_azafatas_van_al_cielo?wprov=sfla1 Cheers.

I love that he doesn't really interest himself with others lives. I love him as a great comedian but could care less about his personal life. Way to stay stoically down to earth while flexing about balconies.
He really needs to do the audio book. He's terrific.
he has done the audiobook of Ayoade on Top and I can confirm it's amazing
@@joshuaclark3406 im refraining from reading the book until I can get the audio of him reading so I can read along with him.
the audiobook is Laugh Out Loud hilarious - the most ridiculously extended joke I've heard in years
@@gwinnellheald8592 And check to make sure the audio edition is the same as the print of course!

Flash forward 2000 years to a world where this book is the sole record of what is believed to be a lost gem of cinema.

i could listen to him talk about anything.
Same😂
It’s his fault that I just watched 12 clips from View From the Top.
Bought it, read it, enjoyed it !
This man is so good
Agreed, do the audio book!
I'm sorry, but Richard's lilting soothing tones distracted me from the actual content.
Same

This video came out exactly a year ago.
Simply the best.
The squinty eye and "maybe you should work behind the scenes where you won't spook anyone" bit...😂😂😂
Richard does his own fabulously eloquent & thoughtful writing a disservice with the dareIsay “emotionally brittle”, too-fast delivery here

Just finding you because the IT crowd is on Netflix. I wish you had your own TV show (of any kind) in the states.
He has a show where he travels around with celebs called "Travel Man"
OMG! Recommendation: Garth Merenghi’s Darkplace”. He’s the co-creator and one of the stars. All the eps are on UA-cam. Enjoy!
Audio book now!!!!!!!!!
If you've actually seen View from top this is hilarious
" ... emotionally brittle mathematicians."
Frosted tips? In 2019? What an icon.
It is for the Souvenir I guess. He had frosted tips in it. Also, he has fully blonde hair in the Souvenir part 2.
