I had someone buy 29 cards from me and only spend .99 on shipping… naturally I had to pack all of those into a larger envelope and spent more like $7 on shipping ☹️ how do you keep this from happening?
Was it bulk you were selling by chance?
@@AshenWingzTCG no it was individuals 😭 I assumed that TCG would consider it a medium size package but it didn’t and only charged the buyer .99 for all of them somehow!
@@brennaroach6822 Unfortunately multiple single card orders are never considered to be a medium package. Booster Boxes and the sort are considered to be a different shipping rate, not singles. And I meant more so that were they .02 cent cards that you sold? Because as long as you made a big profit, its not that big of a deal. But if you sold $3 worth of product and had to ship it for $7 then its a loss
@@AshenWingzTCG oh it was a loss but not by much. Sold $6 worth and paid $7 in shipping. I highly doubt this is going to be a common occurrence but I wanted to make sure I didn’t do anything dumb.
@@brennaroach6822 If you sold 29 cards for one order and only made $6 gross before supplies etc, I'd check your inventory. Wait until you're a Level 4 seller and meet the requirements for TCG Player Direct before putting cards under .55 cents for sale. It will save you from having something like this happen again. :D
What about shipping cheap cards?
Depends on how many cards you are shipping to one place but it should just need 1 stamp
Thanks for the info! What about Paypal processing fees? Is there anything to take into account there?
Not too sure on the paypal fees to be honest. If someone did buy cards through Paypal, I personally wouldnt know. I'm sure its on a report somewhere. I do know that refunds are a bit of a hassle with Paypal but TCGPlayer takes care of most of the work.
@@AshenWingzTCG Thank you for the info!
@@AshenWingzTCG For seller levels 1-4 TCG takes 10.25% for fees, PayPal takes 2.5% + a $0.30 processing fee. TCG does not charge fees on tax but PayPal does, and the $0.30 processing fee is for each order whether you sale 1 card or 20. This is why I have free shipping on orders over $5. By doing this if the buyer does spend over $5 I know I will make a profit, but if the buyer chooses to not spend over $5 then they will have to pay a $0.99 shipping charge which may or may not allow for a profit. If you sell a $0.05 card you probably will not simply because of the $0.30 processing fee.
thanks
Why are u spending so much on envelopes. Just buy em on Walmart. Literally cost 1 cent
Your envelopes cost 1c at Walmart? Where? Cause I use to buy them from Walmart and they cost much more than that
theres another one that goes in and out of stock at 1 cent. this link they are 1.1 cents
@@southdaytontradingco I'll have to check and see which ones those are. If you have a link you can always send it to my email which is in the about section
I had to stop selling a few months ago because shops in my area had no toploaders. I thought about using the shields, but after buying a few cards for my collection from Pro Play Games, I saw they would always ship using the cheap $.25 binder pages. They would cut them in three pieces and would fit perfectly in a pwe. My locals always has them in stock and I can fit about 10 cards for $0.03 per sleeve. Beside that I always go to the Dollar Tree for envelopes which come in packs of 30 and are the peel and stick ones which are only $0.03 each. However I never really printed orders when I ship and want to in order to make orders look more professional and get better reviews. The best printer I found can print for $0.07 each page for a total of 0.71 per order. Do you think it's worth doing to print the order?
Other than that I only ever sold bulk I acquired from packs and ever since I've strictly been buying singles all my bulk is gone. I thought about doing a post in our towns tcg facebook group to buy bulk, but don't know how to go about it. Only 1 shop buys bulk, but they only determine prices after looking at how much is brought in. Any ideas to try and set up bulk rates? I like these informational videos you've done. I can't find a lot explaining the rates cards are bought and sold, but your videos have helped me get back into selling on tcgplayer
Thanks for your message and I'm glad to see you started selling again! As far as the printer situation, I'd say if its within budget and doesn't take up too much time for you, then its usually a good idea. Although I gotta say, while people enjoy good looking mail, as ling as their cards come in the condition they ordered, I'm sure they don't mind. Maybe I'm wrong though. Just be accurate, on time with orders and have great customer service and I'm sure you'll do just fine :D
Oh and as for bulk, fb marketplace is usually selling tons of bulk for pretty cheap. Right around $40-$50 for 4000+ cards for most people. Ebay as has tons of bulk as well. Not sure what the going rate is off the top of my head but I would say $5 ish for every 1k in bulk is usually a good buy price
