Thank you for making this video about something that we can all learn how to do ourselves but without videos like these, would be intimidating! I tried to see what leverage points there were to pop open my fob, but without the confidence of you demonstrating where to pry it open, I would have been too scared to give any force. Thanks again.
Fantastic instructions. You hit the right focus on the prying it open with your careful directions. I would never have figured it out without breaking something!
Thank you! This was so much easier than changing the battery on my Prius keyfob! Your directions were very easy to follow and I just used the key to remove the battery!
Helpful video. There's a tiny spring inside that helps the little silver side lever go down when you want to take out the key. Be real careful when it's all open - if the spring pops out it's not too hard to get back on, but easy to lose and then you'll have a hard time taking the key out next time.
I've had my Bolt for almost 8 years now. Every alternating 2 years or so, I have to replace the battery; one FOB, then 2 years later the other. I always forget how to do it and thus I have seen several UA-cam tutorials as a result. This _Streamlined_ tutorial was by Far the best!
Thanks. The used car dealership my mom got a bolt ev from had the battery in upside down so we thought it was dead. It also explains why when I went to open the fob the PCB was stuck to the battery side. Light prying got it to come off and I immediately saw the postive side up and thought "Well there's the problem".
Fear of damaging the fob is real. I’ve been using just a single fob for awhile now due to forgetting since it’s mostly the other members of my family that drive the Bolt and second factor simple laziness 😞. I’d imagine the fob would probably be expensive to replace if purchased from GM, so the really clear demonstration of how far in to place the key to open the fob was terrific. Comment added to help bump the interaction with this video and help the creator.
Excellent. Explains where the pain points are and how to get around them. I wonder why the manual that comes with the car can't be clear on how to do it, but it definitely isn't easy with their instructions.
So nice I wish I could like it twice. I guess I watched your tutorial the first time I changed the battery in my fob and had to do it again today 😄 Thanks for a quick and to-the-point video that is super helpful!
Very useful tutorial. The owner's manual that comes with the car is not very informative as to how to separate the front and back of he key fob to access the battery.
CR2032 Coin Battery 🪙 you need: amzn.to/3GkOJnN
Prying apart plastic parts can be worrisome, you took the worry out by showing not only how to do it, but where you can go wrong. Nicely done.
Thank you that was so easy you did an amazing job
Thanks so much for this! It worked on my 2023Bolt key fob as well.

Beautiful. Simple, straightforward. All 'howto' videos should be this uncluttered. Thank you.
Easy to do once you see the demo. Be sure to recycle your old battery to keep toxics out of landfills and to reduce the need for new materials.
Fantastic instructions. You hit the right focus on the prying it open with your careful directions. I would never have figured it out without breaking something!
Wow, thank you for the clear video and simple instruction. With your guidance, I swapped batteries in our two fobs in roughly 60 seconds.
Thank you! This was so much easier than changing the battery on my Prius keyfob! Your directions were very easy to follow and I just used the key to remove the battery!
A great video. Short and to the point, but with enough detail to dispel any worries about breaking the FOB. Thanks for posting!
Thanks so much! Clear, focused, complete--and greatly appreciated. 😊
Thanks a million. I could not get the case apart and was worried about breaking it until I watched this. Thanks for that tip. Invaluable!
