    Looks like a lot of fun. I appreciate the fact that though you had an schedule of things to do. They were not all required. And that you could eat leisurely. Not so regimented.😊

    I went on a Rhine River Cruise in Germany on Uniworld and it had people from 30's through 70's. You unpack once and travel at night while you are asleep, stopping at stops during the day. Best vacation ever. Everyone hangs out in the bar which is surrounded by windows and just drinks and talks in the evening. They have workout ares and spas as well.

    Hi Josh and Ashley. My boyfriend and I took the Dashing Through the Danube cruise in late December/early January on The A. We would do that exact cruise again to enjoy it all over again and to catch some the things we missed. We would do the very same itinerary in spring or fall. We would take any cruise that UbyUniworld offers. We loved our experience, as I am sure you will, too. I hope you are lucky enough to have Verena as a UHost on your trip. We had a bonus host with Miklas, as he led us through his hometown of Budapest. (Adore him)
    Just as an FYI, most of the guests on our cruise were in their 30s-50s. It was a great mix of ages and nationalities. I do recommend that people take advantage of the free orientation tours and then explore each port city on their own. The paid excursions don't give much time to stop and enjoy a specific site or to have much free time on your own in a city. For those who drink cocktails, I recommend purchasing the drink package so you don't get a shock at the end of the cruise when you check out and get your bar tab. Also, Adam and Patricia are exceptional service staff. I hope they are on your cruise. If you are looking for an affordable but quality river cruise with a program for the under 60 crowd and the young at heart, this is the cruise line for you. I am looking forward to their new cruise options next year. I think we will book another one in 2020.
    (I was so excited when I saw your post from The A, I had to comment. This is my ever first comment on anyone's UA-cam page.)

    How exciting for you all and looking forward to seeing more videos of the cruise. After years of avoiding river cruises we caved and went on our first one last month (Provence Region of France) on one of the other lines (the one that advertises a ton on American TV) and enjoyed it. Can't say we loved it, but it certainly is a nice way to travel. The key I guess is to pick the route that best fits the area you're interested in and the cuisine you like (we're not big on French food). There are regions I don't think we'll ever do via river cruising (like the Rhine) as I remember standing on the pathway up to Rheinsfels Castle waving my arms and shouting at all the river boats passing by that this is a great place to see. They didn't stop. So when it comes to ease of travel versus more immersion in an interesting area, I guess our river cruising will be limited. Happy cruising.

I will be taking my 9th river cruise this October and although it is pretty much a been there, done that cruise, I am still looking forward to it as I think river cruising is the ultimate way to see Europe. BTW, Uniworld is my favorite river cruise company and although I don't qualify, it's nice to see that they are encouraging younger people to try river cruising.

    The German way of pronouncing the Main river is like 'mine' in America.
    Miltenberg is a nice little town; it brings back old memories. There used to be an ammunition depot of the U.S. Army near Miltenberg; I have often been there on TDY. When you get to Bamberg you must try a "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier". The beer has a smoky taste, just like smoked ham.
    Your ship is called "Flußkreuzfahrtschiff" in German.

    We have been on the A recently, and as a couple, we have cruised extensively. Agree the ship is very well appointed (clearly Uniworld quality) and most crew excellent, again Uniworld service showing here. As the target age group, we felt a few things could be changed, then again it is still a fairly new concept and product. Anyway, yes the A is a ship. Used to be known as the River Ambassador with Uniworld. Prior to that, her bell shows her original name. Indeed you can put a boat on a ship, but not a ship on a boat. If you were on a ship and had to get on a boat, you are generally either tendering to a port/back to ship or the ship has been ordered to evacuate, god forbid. Of course, you cannot fit every boat in the world on one ship. River ships just do not tend to have many onboard boats, unlike oceanliners, that have more regulations for lifeboats. Most river cruises include a selection of excursions, which is a bonus. For the majority of ocean liners, every excursion is extra unless you are on some of the most upmarket lines.

    I've checked the prices on uniworld. Actually it is very expensive there. Between 3,500 and 4,500 Euro p.p. May be because uniworld is an american shipping company offering tours for people who dont know about the pricings in europe? Anyway...if you check on european Websites you will pay for same cruise by european shipping companies even in the high season 1,300 or 1,500 Euro.
    But to be fair. The other river cruise ships are made for pensioniers :-).

    • @joeyis3434
      @joeyis3434 5 років тому

      Hi! It is the exact same in terms of product. At first, the bookings were restricted to 18-40-year-olds. However, as the cruise industry is traditionally 'older', I am guessing it was harder to appeal to the younger market, for now at least - we tend to joke we are always the youngest on any ship, we just enjoy cruising! We had a lovely time meeting likeminded people on our 'A' cruise, no matter the age. We are mid-twenties and the age ranged from 18-year-olds with their families, to couples in their 50/60s. Hope that helps :)

    • @andyandkirstie
      @andyandkirstie 5 років тому +1

      @@joeyis3434 Thanks Joanne. I agree, it's not really an age thing, unless they want to turn it into a club 18-30 on water, which I think would put a lot of people off, regardless of how old they are!

    • @joeyis3434
      @joeyis3434 5 років тому

      @@andyandkirstie You're welcome, and we agree. To elaborate more, I would say there were snippets of Contiki (that is part of the overall travel group and has a more club 18-30 vibe) that showed on board. However, I stress this was more the organisation from one host causing this feeling on our particular cruise, who happened to be onboard that week. It did not reflect the ship, that is stunning for her age or most of the excellent crew. Most of our fellow cruisers we spoke to onboard shared these feelings. Of course, while the cost is good (arguably low) for a river cruise of the quality that it is, people who are still paying considerably more than a holiday with Contiki just do not expect to experience even snippets of it on these cruises. Our crowd were a lovely group of people overall, interested in having a relaxing time, exploring new destinations and chatting with a drink at the bar. Not necessarily partying until the early hours. There were a few more minor things. I have no doubt this will be a successful product if it is marketed well and guest feedback listened to and taken into consideration. Best wishes.
