Great video mate, I've been using SketchUp with my van build, teaching myself along the way, but there were some good 'pro tips' in here that I hadn't discovered myself yet either so thumbs up. It really does make things easier when you model it first and cut out half of your mistakes in the design phase. You really need to spend the time to get the initial dimensions correct.
This looks promising... Is the Transit Combo package suitable for designing a build for a 2023 (USA - i. e. driver side on the left) 130" wheelbase, mid-height roof, Ford Transit Cargo van?
@@saltyvanventures I did that... I wondered if there is a template for each vehicle (showing cutouts for doors, wheelbase sizes/locations, etc.). I've never used a CAD program before, but this sure could help if I could figure out how to use it.
Not sure on how to measure or use tools as was never taught, I am a traffic controller, and a gamer. I am wanting to learn how to do this properly as I have the long wheel based 2011 Mercedes sprinter I am working on. I have the layout in my head etc on how i want it, thou I dont want it to be the conventional build most have mine is and I urge with anticipation that I want to be different. No kitchen, or sink etc thou the idea i wont share publicly thou happy to write in confidence. Any help would greatly be appreciated, I have some videos up on my channel now just at the very beginning after disassembled everything. Cheera from Neo

Straight from the start I can't actually change the dimensions by clicking that box.. it won't let me type anything different.

Hey yes it is as you can easily flip the deign so that it is then a left hand drive vehicle
