Going vintage with Fuzz and Echo - MXR Classic 108 Fuzz Review
Вставка

- I've always been curious about fuzz pedals, but I've never dared getting one, because I knew they can be difficult pedals.
For example germanium fuzz pedals are susceptible to temperature, and all fuzz pedals have a notoriously low input impedance which loads the guitar signal. They rely on that interaction between the fuzz circuit and the guitar to sound right.
I strumbled upon this pedal and saw that it featured silicon transistors and a buffer switch, so I decided to try it.
Definitely I'm not disappointed. These are some vintage tones I was able to get with only Fuzz, Vibe Machine and Echorec.
Hope you'll enjoy. Remember to leave a thumb, subscribe and I will see you soon! 😉

thats amazing, never knee that pedal could sound like that
I use the OG big one and a Keeley Echoes (very similar to the Echorec).
Great stuff! Very well played.
Non lo avrei mai detto... Suona bene davvero!
Già, una bella sorpresa anche per me! Grazie Roby
Big like! Im suprised a fuzz sounds that great for soycd. Always thought it was a tube driver. Great demo. All the best for 2020. Ps i like the old man photoshop in the thumbnail 😂
In 1975 Gilmour didn't have the Tube Driver, yet! So it probably was fuzz or power boost! Eheheh the old me was to give an idea of time travelling 😂
@@gilmouring
My money is on a Power Booster into a staggeringly loud HiWatt!
The MXR does a nice mid-2000s SOYCD live tone. It's quite similar to his Tube Driver tones from that time
@@mattgilbert7347 yeah you would probably win the bet 😄
I beyond suggest the Dunlop Mini Silicon Fuzz Face. It's not super expensive and it's hard to beat the original silicon circuit.
The problem with the dunlop is that it's a faithful replica of the original, therefore it has low impedance, which means you'll have to pay attention to what you put between fuzz and guitar...
That's why I preferred this one.
Very close to the original tones. 👍
Great video. I am looking for a fuzz that will do both Gilmore and Hendrix. Does this pedal do Hendrix tones?
Sounds great 👍
Lovely job. Are you running the volume up full for ‘money’ and ‘time’? Thinking I’ll get this pedal
Yes full volume! Good!
Great sound !!
Hi Tony great video! have you come across any echorec alternatives?
I bet you mean "cheaper alternatives". I had in mind to try the Foxgear Echosex which for the price seems really worth it. I haven't had the chance yet. Another nice echo I had once was the Ibanez DE-7, but it lacks a tone control for the repeats...
Thanks Tony!
Great demo. I know nothing about fuzz petals, but I’m looking for something to cover Hendrix and Gilmour. Do you think this pedal would be adequate? If not what would you recommend? Thanks
Yeah you need something like this, although I suggest going for something with more gain, silicon fuzz but I would go for BC183 or similar...hope this helps
Thanks
Amazing tone! very similar on Echoes. On Money solo, what doubler effect do you use here?
No doubler effect. The used effects are in the green banner above! So only fuzz and Echorec!
Hi Tony.. what in ur view are the top 3 most recommended Fuzz pedals (on a budget) to achieve Gilmour tones?
I would go for Mooer Blue Faze for extremely low budgets, then JHS Fuzz Series 3 and the MXR Mini BC 108.
I'm looking for something with a BC168 (if I remember) for a future review...it should have more distortion...so more juice ! 😋
now you just have to play that in the pomeii theater now, sounds like you are not far from there
Eheheh thanks, who knows! Maybe one day...
@@gilmouring - I just saw that he played pompeii again recently! you didnt go? ua-cam.com/video/ABPQdXertbs/v-deo.html
Sorry I've just seen your link. Well no, I didn't go to Pompei, because the ticket was too expensive...immediately after opening, the price reached 300€. So, with all the other expenses (I would have needed to catch a plane and probably a train too, to get there) it was really too much...
I got the deluxe version of the album and enjoyed the Live in Blu Ray. 😊
Bella grana che ha .... ;)
Già! Una rivelazione!
