  • In this video Terry and Jill from Jafffa Adventures hike up to the summit of Mount Maroon. Located in My Barney National Park, the Mt Maroon walk is only 1.5 hours from Brisbane or the Gold Coast. If you are staying at Bigriggen or Flanagan's Reserve the trail head is only a 10 minute drive away. This bushwalk has stunning views around the scenic rim, including vistas of Mt Barney, Mt Lindsay, and Maroon Dam. The hike should be attempted by experienced walkers that have a reasonable level of fitness. In our trek a walker was actually lost for a short period of time and the police were involved in a search and rescue. Join us for this adventure if you are up for it, get out there and enjoy Mt Maroon for yourselves!!

I went on this climb a few days back and the views have to be the most stunning I’d ever witnessed.

Other than the Lost World Valley, this is my most favourite part of the world. Beautiful spot. Thank you.

The school I went to forced me to climb Mt Maroon. Went up one way and down another. In fact, I've climbed up all the mountains in the area. Greville, Moon, Mt Edwards (little and big), Mt French and every other damn peak in the area.

@@JafffaAdventures I had to row a canoe over Lake Moogerah during a bloody wild storm too. The other kid in the canoe was terrified. I was just extremely concerned but managed to keep us out of the drink battling waves. Stupid teachers.

Teachers could not get away with that today😉😎

@@JafffaAdventures Yeah. This poor kid and i were paddling across the widest part of the dam during a violent storm from the south and the waves were enormous. Looking back, yeah, where were the teachers ? Talk about character building... I'm bloody scared to get in a canoe......
I will not get in a canoe unless it is with someone I know and trust.

Amazing how experiences like that in our formative years can be so impactful, but they certainly are and everyone has a story👍😎

Brilliant video Terry! That brings back memories. It would have to be 30 odd years ago we climbed Maroon.
I recall (vaguely) parking and then walking across a paddock, privately owned. There was a bull, or so they told us. We didn't buggerise around moving to the start of the trail.
It seems more civilized now. Where did you park to start your walk Terry?
Wouldn't mind giving it a go, just one more time.

Thanks for your kind words Keith, very much appreciated. We parked at the end of Cotswold Road where the trail head is. You do indeed have to walk across private land to get to the ascent so it’s probably the same spot you remember. If you’ve got it in you, I would definitely recommend it mate. Even though you have already been up, it’s soooo worth it. Cheers😎👍

@@JafffaAdventures That'd be right Terry. Rings a bell. I'll give it a go. I can vividly recall the views, stunning. Bit older (and stiffer) now. I'll fly the drone, should be good.

That’s very kind of you to say Holger and I am humbled, thank you. I do drink water if I’m forced to, but your right, bourbon or whiskey are my two go to drinks. Keep the shiny side up mate, cheers😎👍

How's the dirt road to the carpark? A regular car can handle it?

Yep, no problem just take it slow as there are a few sips along the way. Cheers👍😎
