Probably the first set of so called "Warm" patches I've heard in a whole set, while keeping some of that Argon character especially that wonderful filter. Thanks to Jamie & Modal for releasing these for nada.
Master Jamie, these are some of the finest and definitive patches out there. Remarkable work, thank you 🙏 Adding some Vintage with firmware 3 makes some patches even more undistinguishable from their analogue counterparts. Like many said, these are the warmest and characterful patches out there, hard to believe it is digital
Great work. wishing you a happy, healthy 2023 Have a synth related query and was hoping you could help. I basically really like detuned sounding pads and leads à la Atoms For Peace and Aphex Twin. I know just about enough to know that means atleast two oscillators both with detune knob control. Can you recommend any that come with a keybed and easily accessible controls below £1k. Was also hoping for something that is multi timbral (I think that's the term) so I can sequence different sounds simultaneously on separate midi channels. I have a roland fantom but it's quite involved to get the two oscillator detune thing going without menu diving and even then it's not very intuitive...more of a performace arranger I think. Let me know what you think thanks mate Sim.
Great sounds, well crafted. I have the feeling the new waveforms - especially the analog style ones, make a Cobalt pretty much obsolete (for me). The Argon is more flexible and can do the analog style stuff I expected from a Cobalt the same.
I only used a few "Analog" waveforms in some of the Patches, I tried to use all of the new ones throughout the Bank, but I have a lot of experience programming Analog Synths, so put it to good use on the Argon. I don't have a Cobalt, so not sure how different they would be.
The Filter is outstanding in the Cobalt. Comes really close to my Modal 002. Super creamy and moogy. And also the Phasing in the Filter is superb. These are the things that the Argon cant replicate. So you need both =D
@@maycusskywalker3643 I had a Cobalt for 2 weeks. Tried hard to love it, programmed sounds on it, tried to be "analog". I couldn´t be happy with it. Finally I gave it back. To me the Argon is the better instrument. But that´s fine, Modal cares good for their instruments and this is rewarded with people liking their synths.
To be honest, whenever I've heard the Argon 8 before it's always sounded a bit bland - to my ears anyway. This is much better though, it has some real character. Your programming skills do you credit as ever, Jamie.
Thanks, it is easy for it to sound a bit flat, though that is similar for a lot of Digital' Synths, but it was fun making them and it's very much a less is more when it comes to using the onboard FX. :)
Very nice indeed. I'm torn between buying the Modal Argon 8, Korg Minilogue and IK Mutimedia synth Pro Desktop.. I'm wanting to get make cool soundscapes.. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Cool...For Soundscape, you really need Polyphony, the ability to play multiple notes at the same time, so I believe the IK is paraphonic, so has 3 oscillators going through a single Filter. The Minilogue is 4 notes, but both are Analog, so there's that. Argon 8 or even the Cobalt 8 might be a better option for you as it has 8 Voices, FX onboard and lots of functionality, so out of the 3 for Soundscapes, I'd go with the Argon 8.
I have both the Argon 8 and the Cobalt 8, if I had to chose only one, I would go with the Cobalt, I really like both, but the Cobalt has the 4 pole filter edginess that I prefer, soundwise.
@@lancecox8084 Okay. That kind of throws a spanner in the works.. I thought the Argon was better for more soundscapey sounds whereas the Cobalt was more analogy bass and lead type sounds..
@@noodlingaround2023 there is a lot of cross over with two synths, side by side they can sound very similar, but the Argon may have the edge when it comes to Pads and the wavetable options can get more diverse sounds, which I am trying to get my mind around, but I just like the Cobalt a little bit better, to my ears anyway, with each firmware update, though Modal seems to be putting a little more distance between the two synths.

Actually, these are my first Argon Patches, which have been released anyway. I have a Prologue, which is a great Synth, a bit light on Modulation, but it has 2 Layers, much better FX and Analog, so I wouldn't actually put it side by side with the Argon. I don't have a Cobalt, sorry.
This sounds great but I have a Blofeld and that does what I need. Also getting a P12 soonish so will pick up your patches for that. Does this run the Raspberry Pi? And have you done patches for the Cobalt?
Hi, cool on getting the Prophet 12, it's a really great Synth. The Argon 8 has been a joy to Design on, as it's so immediate to use, plus has support with an Editor, which I wish others Manufacturers would do, plus it's really good quality for the price. I've not got a Cobalt no.
@@GEOSynths I have a Pro 2 as well so will be using that to control the module, I just do not have room for keys, and I can get the LE white version too. I think it will be a nice additions to my other DSI gear. Thx for the uploads, they really do sound good.
@@GEOSynths I’ve enjoyed using the Argon8. A very nice, easy to use synth. I quite like the sounds too. And these patches are wonderful. Lush digital waves that emote a real vibe.
Great! It’s always super to get free patches and this time from my favorite patch wizard! I hope Modal will commission you with a set for the Cobalt8 as well. Amongst other synths I own an Argon 8m and Cobalt 8X. The latter has a great keybed imho and has replaced my Novation SL61 MK3 midi controller. What did you think of the Argon 8? Personally I love the endless encoders and the app gives a great insight in patch creation/construction as well. Did you use their app while creating these patches? Most of all, did you have fun doing it? Again, thanks for creating these. They sound lovely! 👍
Thanks for that. Yes, I used the App with it, great for seeing the Modulation Matrix, much easier to use that way and fast. They are high quality for their price, really impressed with the build. Not got a Cobalt, but who knows. :)

These are the best sounds that I've heard on the Argon. Well done Jamie.
Absolutely agree with you. Thank you for these beautifully sounds for us.
100% never heard a demo of it i liked until this one. unbelievable sounds here
Just had a listen through the first 50 on my A8, and OMG how nice they are! I’ve had a silly grin for the last 30 minutes. Well done, Sir!
Thanks, having a “Silly Grin” is all the feedback I need. :)
Sounds like it’s another synth almost. Best set I’ve heard so far!
It's really a very good sound package for Argon, thank you for this work and this generosity. I really love it
What a beautiful and totally useful set of patches, great work !!!

simply amazing Jamie! wow and 100 patches too. Thanks! Ill be definitely checking these out
WOW! Listening with headphones. The stereo! SO NICE. And the price!!! As always awesome work Jamie.
Great patches! I hope they get you to do 100 for the Cobalt 8 also!
1st class soundesign.
Absolutely the best sounds for the Argon8.
Thank you. 👍🏼
No problem, glad you like them.
Geosynths makes anything sound like a dream! Fantastic work!
Thanks a lot, glad you like them :)
Huge thanks for these luscious sounds!
Thanks. These patches sound beautiful! :-) Regards from Cologne

Thanks very much, very kind of you :)
Fantastic patches!
@Geosynths can you please breakdown the first preset ‘Lost Prophet ‘ i want to recreate it with my virus ti.
I am in love with that preset 😍
no way these are free to download. wow.
absolutely stunnign sounds!!

Beautiful work. Are any external fx used? That 'Redeemer' patch sounds super atmospheric. Best demo of this synth on UA-cam.
No all internal FX
excellent stuff

Deckard is 1000000% Blade Runner. Awesome.
the site (and the company ) seems dead. where can I find the patches and all firmware and docs that were in Modal's site?
I read on a Facebook group that everything is being transferred to a new owner, so needs a new website etc
