I hate that they argue so much but I love it at the same time, they’ve had two very different upbringings and although emotions are involved and feelings sometimes get hurt they’re able to talk about issues openly and honestly without veering away from their personal opinions

I disagree. Jamie is correct that not everyone wants help but most do in my experience. Ans callie is right that as long as everyone thinks there is nothing we can do about it then nothing will get done about it because politicians relay on our complacency

Working with the homeless, Jamie is 100% correct. A lot don’t want long term help and like living detached from society and the government. They’ll accept a bag of food, some money, or cigarettes, but even the most clear headed transients refuse paying jobs and free housing because they don’t like rules.

What I don’t like about Callie here is she isn’t listening to Jamie at all. She’s so righteous and sure of herself that she only acts from a selfish prospective. What Jamie has said here is “I don’t know how to solve homelessness” (which is a very wise and honest point, he’s not patronising, he’s willing to admit his could be flawed, incorrect and poor in reasoning but he’s willing to have a fair dialogue) “but I was scared tonight because there was a potential risk to your safety tonight and there was nothing I could do” he’s seeking reinsurance that he understands that and was in control because he trusts her, but Callie ignores it and berates him for his reasoning. I’m not saying she isn’t entitled to challenge him (in fact that’s what makes them a good couple, they are equals and mostly treat each other as such) but she doesn’t listen. She could have stuck to her point but admitted she understood his concerns, but because that would have undermined her ideals that you should help the homeless she just ignores it. If she wants to get people on her side she has to be willing to listen more. I think this is going to be what (if anything) prevents her and Jamie being together. He’s willing to concede and compromise but if she feels righteous about a topic she is unwilling to look at it from other perspectives. It is not a good trait, you can be flexible in your beliefs and still hold to them. Often it makes you wiser to do so.

This IS about her tho. The whole argument is about how a homeless man tried to hurt her in Jamie's apartment and Jamie is trying to press charges against him when *IT HAPPENED TO HER!*

There’s some points that both of them are making that make sense.
Also Jamie’s concern is valid. I mean it’s Los Angelos there’s crime and he just doesn’t want Callie to be hurt. But Callie’s not wrong about how they should be helping the homeless.
They both make good points. Also I totally had to watch this multiple times to actually hear what they were saying and not be distracted by Jamie without a shirt

IDK why Callie gets so much hate for sticking to her convictions

    • @ChloJoMojo888
      @ChloJoMojo888 4 роки тому +26

IMO, it's just that Callie is rather idealistic, impulsive, and close minded. Change doesn't occur in 1 night; sometimes you need to play the long game to get what you want. And Callie would be much more helpful to a lot of people if she focused on passing the bar, becoming a lawyer, and having the autonomy and authority to directly help whomever she pleases. Instead, she meddles into matters that are above her and gets mad at her lawyer boyfriend for not applauding her.
Jamie sticks to his convictions; he doesn't agree with her nor yield his beliefs, but he at least tries to compromise because he loves her. She storms off and takes things personally when he doesn't agree with her; that's just being close-minded.

@@ChloJoMojo888 I do agree that's she's rather idealistic but I don't think she wants a pat on the back. I thinks she just wants him to basically agree with her, which is problematic in its own way.

maybe because she isn't realistic. She is trying to change the world when she doesn't even have enough money to take care of herself. I think it is funny how she thinks she is morally superior to everyone yet she is there living off Jamie. I don't even get why she cried at the end of the episode when all she has been doing is think of herself and what she wants and what she thinks is right. Also it seemed like she never actually loved Jamie soo... I mean we all know she will most likely choose Gael

@@ChloJoMojo888 exactly. like gurl why don't you focus on actually becoming an official lawyer first before you stick your nose into people's business and try to be the savior all the time. She is very childish. Like Jamie would never risk her job but there she goes snooping in his files without thinking about the consequences because what she believes in is right.

Callie talks about increasing wages and decreasing housing costs, but how does that actually affect homelessness? People are homeless largely because of extreme personal issues like drug and alcohol addiction, domestic violence, childhood violence, mental health issues, etc. that are too difficult for those people to deal with properly at a level at which they can maintain employment. You can increase wages all you want, but that won’t do anything for homeless people who are too damaged to be able to get a job to begin with. Not to mention increasing wages is also usually associated with large scale job cuts, which means LESS jobs available for homeless people and everyone else. Jamie is right. We need to focus more on homeless services that deal with these people’s personal issues head on, before we can ever hope focus on the systemic economic changes Callie is talking about. Jamie is a realist. Callie is an idealist.

Callie and Malika are both so annoying. I understand that they want to help those who are mistreated and live unfortunate lives but like at the state they are in they won't be able to make a difference at all. They keep trying to do good but only makes things worse. How do you expect to help others when you don't help yourself? Both of them don't even have a financially stable job yet and they keep risking what they already have and keep ruining their relationships. If you don't have the resources you can't change anything. They should at least try to build a career first and then use their influence when they have enough money and power. Them just trying to be woke all the time without regards for their own family and partners is tiring to watch.

Do you realise you just said that you find Callie and Malika both annoying because all they simply want is a world where everyone is equal
Issues like racism and descrimination and sexual harassment that affect peoples daily lives will continue to go on when everyone else is so selfish that the only thing theyre doing is thinking of themselves
      As Callie said
The more we feel we cant do anything about it is the longer we WILL do nothing about it

@@sososohaunted I feel like Jamie is more forgiving though. He obviously loves her more than she loves him. Sometimes i feel like she is just in the relationship because it is convenient. He is rich, he is organized, he listens to her, and he is easy on the eyes. She can also literally do anything like question his beliefs, act morally superior because she is liberal and he is conservative, judge him because of the company he works for, and he will always be there to welcome her back. Her on the other hand though. One mistake or action she doesn't agree with from Jamie and it is over.
