When I used to get roller sets at the hairdresser, she would wrap my hair after taking the rollers out. I would keep it wrapped until the next day. It made a world of difference.
@@robinford5000YESS!!! I feel like she never grew up getting one to know how it’s done. Plus you CANNOT use small rollers with the snap on top. That’s was her 1st mistake.
Definitely try it again! You need more tension, and smooth the hair out with a finer tooth tool! Also, use a mousse that creates more a cast like Nairobi, will give you a smoother result. As long as the tension is there of course! Finally, I'd definitely just just comb the curls out, instead of trying to separate them like a traditional rod set! You got this sis!
The Camille Rose does create a great cast for these styles, she just didn’t use enough per section. I use it for my twist outs and I have thick 4a/4b hair! I get popping curls every time. I seal it with grease.
@@tammie3194 GREASE... chile oh no! That mousse gives definitely more of a hydrating hold! Nairobi, lotta body, and some more of the old school mousses are definitely better for a roller set!
Same here. I think she did a great job, and a good demonstration, and detail of products used. I thought the results was cute. I give her E for Effort, and A for results. For me, if my results ended like that I would have fun working with it.
I thought so too, but I totally understand the frustration. I hate when half my hair is still wet so I get those limp "curls" and end up with a uneven shaped style lol
I actually thought it was cute! It gave retro vibes! Maybe when you try again, don’t use the magnetic clips that came w/ the rollers, but clips/pins to secure the rollers underneath instead…and use the smaller to medium size rollers throughout….I absolutely LOVE roller sets and think it’ll be fabulous once you get the hang of it! ❤
I thought it looked cute too. I was surprised at her calling it ugly. She shouldn't be too hard on herself. If this is her first time trying it, I give her a big A, for the results. So what if she had a couple rollers she didn't set well. You learn from those first time mistakes, and her next try at it should be perfect.
I feel you girl in this video. We don't want to be wasting time on failed hairstyles! I appreciate you sharing your experience with us viewers who are also trying to navigate these natural hairstyles. Thank you! Thank you!
When doing a roller set make sure the hair is sopping wet with water. Especially the ends! The ends is what helps it curl and be smooth. If you try on blown out hair then just make sure the ends are wet. Also, you might want to try larger rollers if you want a more wavy look.
It’s not a fail. When you try it again, use bigger rollers - purple and grey. It will be straighter, if that’s the look you are going for. I would just use the Bobby pins to secure them so you won’t have that hump. Lastly, do a row of rollers at the top of your head, like a Mohawk. Then work the rest of the rollers around that. Try it again.
I do a two strand twist and then roller set each twist. It’s my go-to style. I love it. You should try that. Honestly your hairdidn’t look as bad as you think.
Keep working on the roller set. CURLS, coils, and braids are not for everyone, and I am one of them. Let's keep the roller set going. You gave me hope. Beautiful young lady. KUDOS ❤❤

I know I’m getting old when someone gets excited about ‘discovering’ magnetic rollers, which have been around since I’ve known myself😂 . Btw, I love the result.
Hey beautiful...I have DEFINITELY been there...here are some tips so you can try again!! Use the smallest rollers for the shortest length and the larger rollers for longer and don't install them horizontal (side ways) do them vertical (up and down) or diagonal so they will have a Shirley temple vibe and then separate. You are SO GORGEOUS anyway...that bun was such a VIBE 🥰

Hey there. I’ve never seen your videos before, but this was very entertaining 👏🏾. Thanks for sharing your first experience doing these rollers. I did hundreds of roller sets in my teen years. I could help if you’d like lol A few tips are: 1.Next time be sure to pull the hair taught enough to reduce the amount of texture that comes thru after drying (if that’s what you’re going for) 2.At your length, I suggest maybe you shouldn’t mix the huge pink ones with the very small blue ones. And if you do, I think you should put the bigger ones more towards the bottom to create a good shape at the end of the style 3.When you secure the roller with the clip, try to make sure to edge of the clip is along or as close to the root of your rolled hair as possible! 4. Let them separate themselves kinda, they will unravel as you unroll them in the same direction they were rolled I hope all of hat helps in case you ever want to try again 👌🏾👍🏾 good luck 😊
When you said you looked like someone’s organized mom, I hollered 😂. I think a roller set on natural hair is a great way to stretch the hair with minimal heat, but it’s not a good style for longevity. Once a little moisture hits it (sweat, humidity…) the style is done.
❤ 😅I’m sorry it didn’t turn out the way you hoped but I’m also glad to know that I’m not the only one who struggles with roller sets! Definitely interested in seeing you try again though!
I’m glad you tried it, love. I did one too a year ago and it took 1/2 a day and I could not leave the house with crazy hair. You’re so cute about it. Keep up what you’re doing. Much love!
Girl you can definitely rock this with a cute side part and/or some bobby pins to shape it. You could even accessorize with head bands and jewelry. I personally like a bit of a messy look, not so so neat. It looked great! New subbie here🌹
I enjoyed your honesty so much!!! You showed my story, but seem to have more patience. You’re result was cuter than you think. Please continue sharing.
Just try it again, back in the day it was Christmas tradition here in South africa that we did roller sets the day or two before Christmas as a child lol 😂 we used to fashion it out in the streets or sit in the sun because mommy didn't allow us to use the blow dryer lol and we used those rollers with the plastic pins aahh memories that hurt our heads
😂😂😂 girl I am so tickled at you! My hair looks like that when i try to style it myself. The thing with rollers you have to use the smaller ones with a direction on how the curl should fall. You still looked cute 😍
I vote for your trying it again. Next time, you could do what is called a roller-wrap. Once you take your hair out of the rollers, brush your hair around your head and make it flat, and then wrap it for the night with a satin scarf. The next day you comb it out , and the curls should be MUCH looser.(Watch some UA-cam videos on the process. It is a style that the Domincans are known for. They sometimes call it a doobie wrap). The roller-wrap process is good because it smooths and flattens the hair so that the curls come out looser and not so extremely tight.
Don’t give up! Your hair looked good! ❤ I would recommend using the smaller curlers all over. Take them out and separate. If you don’t like to sleep in the rollers, you can pineapple your curls to the top of your head with a scarf. That should give you a little more stretch. For more volume you can also use a pick gently.
Super cute, had the exact same result on Saturday. Smaller rollers would've probably given tighter curls so yeah, u needa try 3 more times- 1.on wet hair with smaller rollers. 2.blown out hair with mixed rollers the 3. On blown out hair with bigger rollers. Thanks
I liked it and the curls looked good. 😍 Maybe you wanted a more sleek look, but it just looked like a slept on roller set. But still cute enough to wear.
Your roller set was pretty ❤️. I would like to see the roller set on blow dried hair. I was really thinking about roller setting my hair but I think I want looser curls so I'm going to blow dry my hair and roll it to half way. I'm not going to roll it up to my scalp🤞🏾🙏🏽I think it'll turn out right 🥰
Next time try the purple rollers there bigger as you small section, as a former relax girl, I was the roller set Queen. Yes the Camille rose product is good. I use a hooded dryer.
Yes please try it again! Normally a roller set for us (Dominican) is a preparation to blow dry or flat iron your hair not necessarily for curls. But I would love to see if it would work on blown out hair!
I didn’t think it was that bad. I think you may have needed more tension and also organized the direction of the curls in maybe one direction. It looked good half up and down. I don’t think blown out hair will work. It’s the setting technique that needs to be adjusted for a better result.
Ok. You could’ve rocked the half up half down to save the set. That was actually cute even with the shrinkage. You need to really stretch the hair when you roll it and keep tension as you roll. The problem here was the size or the roller. The blue was way too small for your length. It created a tight curl. You need to use bigger rollers for looser curls. Also the choice of produce was way too heavy. It weighed the curls down. If you try again, try to use tension rollers on wet hair with a foam or just leave in spray. That may help. 👌🏽💯
I understand your disappointment. However, your result looks so pretty to me! It’s giving full body and luxury. I was looking to see if I wanted to roll my hair freshly washed or blow dried. I’m going to roll wet first. It’s giving! ❤
I’ve never done a roller set without setting lotion. It makes the hair crispy at first but just like gel, you have to scrunch. Also gotta get either hair pins or metal clips to avoid the bump caused by the top part of the roller and ensure the hair will be smooth.
I don't think roller sets work well on low porosity natural hair. I tried using roughly 40 rollers (thin sections) and a wrap foam on my 4c shoulder length hair. After 3 hours under the dryer, my hair still wasn't dry. In the past, I went to a salon to see if they could roller set my hair too. They also had to finish drying my hair with a blow dryer because my hair wouldn't dry. But others with high porosity hair have great success with roller sets. Thanks for making this video.
You might want to try smaller rollers if you try again. Also try pin curls when you take the rollers out. Thought it was cute, but I understand not liking it if it's not what you want
You CANNOT use small rollers with the snap on top. That was your 1st mistake. 2nd, you have to wrap it after. It’s called a roller wrap or doobie, depending on where you grew up. But if you didn’t get your hair done by a stylist growing up, you may not have gotten this traditional style. Mine was giving Marilyn Monroe vibes when I had it done.
I get that it didn't come out the way you wanted but it was still workable, you can pull off any natural style, you could have styled it to your liking
Try combing through each section with a rat tail comb before putting each roller in and it will come out smooth. Used to do roller set all the time back im the day and just got too lazy. May start going back to them.
Soooooo, you have to make sure the hair is rolled smoothly around the rollers. You have to make sure the hair is completely dry before you remove the rollers. When removing the rollers, make sure to lightly coat your fingers with oil and instead of finger combing through the curls, try finger coiling each curl as you remove each roller.
It wasn't a fail . . . you didn't plan how the curls should go so they went in their own directions! I think a paddle brush would have helped gain control of the curls. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This is my opinion I think the back of your hair not growing from the blow dryer can you air dry and use another heating attachment . Again want your hair to grow
I think you need larger rollers then wrap it and sit under the dryer about 10 minutes. Flat iron the roots only if it’s not laying to your liking after that
You’re cracking me up😂 you actually look cute I was thinking Whitney Houstonish 😂 I think you could have loosened the curls by brushing through a bit with a cute big curl bob😊
