we know exactly how you felt about the cam belt. We were the same last year before going to Croatia and the insurance company asked us about the belt and we didn't know so had to get it changed just a couple of weeks before we were due to leave. We felt so relieved we changed it and hadn't even given it a thought before they asked us. Hope your German trip goes awesomely well :)
That's interesting that the insurance company mention it, Steve. We've never had that. Our Germany trip is going well at the moment. We are half way through
Hi, sorry to hear you had a bump but it sounds as though it wasn't too bad. You've been very lucky with your timing belt, it's normally a stated mileage or time BUT whichever comes first. Glad it didn't let go 🙂 Hope you have a great trip in Germany, spent time in Baden Baden when I was a teenager, tis beautiful.
Hi you two, hope you have a great time here in Germany. 🤗 When I read that you come to Germany I was kind of hoping it would be next year in May. We have a Community for Hymer B and S Motorhomes (build 96-2006) and it would be fabulouse if you could visit our meet up in May. By the way your pronunciation of Stellplatz was quite good. Looking forward to your videos.🤗
Hey Ads. How bizarre - I’m watching this video whilst at an aire in France en route to ……..the Black Forest!!! If we see you we’ll say hi - enjoy, despite the forecasted weather!!! Cheers from Jon and Judi
Trying to watch this on dodgy campsite wifi in Lower Saxony so hearing most of the words!Long day as we had a breakdown, hopefully all okay now. As you’ve probably discovered by now you need lots of cash in Germany if using wohnmobil stellplatz as you often need notes to pay for a ticket and coins for EHU, water, sometimes even to empty the loo. Utter pain in the arse when touring in Germany although otherwise things are well set up. Have fun.
Oh thanks for the money tips, Philip. We got a load of cash today so should be OK for the time being. So sorry to hear about your breakdown. We hope it's not going to be expensive?
@@HermanHitstheRoad it seems to be a problem with the auto stop start. As long as I remember to bypass the stop start hopefully fine but will need sorting eventually.
I think the older the vehicle the more you'll spend/work on it to keep it roadworthy and tidy. However, the older they are the cheaper they are (normally). I hope that helps, @traveltimeni1442 ?
I think it’s normal to be a little apprehensive before a trip. Have you tried camping car aires in France. You can buy a card at the entrance or buy one before you go and if you pay a little bit more you can book the aire beforehand, saves all the worry on the first day or last day. I usually stop just before the Belgium border near Dunkirk at Bray Dunes, 500 meters back from the beach and there is a carrefour in the town to stock up too. It’s about a 40 minute drive from the tunnel.
Change it every 5 or 6 years, it's rubber can perish, change the rollers and water pump at the same time, viel spass in Deutschland, I lived there 14 years but France is better
Shotley Done my Royal Navy training there at HMS Ganges, Shotley Gate. Parkston Quay and Harwich on the opposite side. £600+ for belts what a rip off. NO THANK YOU. THEY ARE SO EASY TO DO.

Thanks Peter. Yeah, there doesn't appear to be any damage on Herman, only the bike rack. We'll probably be in Baden Baden in a couple of days
Looking forward to seeing your German adventures
Great, we're on it now, @drexelspivey6472 and having a great time👍👍
I have a 2014 Hobby motorhome on a Ducato, and it is due its cam belt. Quote is about £880 so your cost doesn't sound too bad.
Thanks Richard. We feel a bit better now 👍👍
We guessed it! To be fair though, we were there too. Lovely to meet you there and have a chat about Caravan Radio.
Haha 😄. It was lovely to meet you too, Dave 👍👍
Hi l think you are in shotley with Harwich on one side and Felixstowe docks on the others side.

Thanks @snowgrill2165. Let me know when and where in May and I'll see if that's something we can do 👍👍
@@HermanHitstheRoad That would be great!! 🤗
You'd need to email me the details because I might not see your comment on YT
@@HermanHitstheRoad Sure, can you give me the email address? 😅

We're now in Germany, @mk1photography62. I'm still a bit anxious. This time with the driving. I never used to be. It's getting better though

Harwich, great port for Germany.
Thanks Roger 👍
Hi guys looking to get a hymer for long term use trips to Spain France etc . Do you think 2005 is to old or something up in the years is better

Great Video Ads, would you mind sharing who did your cambelt, we don’t live far from you, and have the same engine, many thanks
Boxer Motor Company in Maidenhead, Graham. It's a bit far for us but they seem to be alright.

Yeah they changed the rollers tool. It's all part of the kit, @pgmerovingian
We think your in folkestone or Ipswich
I'll give you Ipswich, Mark 👍👍

I didn't want to risk doing the drive belt myself, @tstuat7333. If it took them 5 hours it would have taken we 2 or 3 days! 😲
