I work in state electric department as IT engineer and we are facing this issue a lot. Only way is to aware consumers that electricity department never disconnect your electricity in such a hurry. It takes at least a year to cut someone's connection if doesn't pay regularly. So be aware and stay safe.
In our area...they give max 2 month of time...if not paid they will call(if they know u personally) if not paid even aftr that....they will cut connection
SAME !!!😱 Me and my father also got the same message, but my house has Solar Panels installed, so technically no one can cut our electricity and our panels generate surplus electricity that Govt. Of Rajasthan pays us for the balance electricity units ! 🚩

This happened to my mother 6 months ago. Points to look - No govt dept will take action on phone/sms without 1-2 written orders. Delivered to home/or in person. -There is ALWAYS A CONTACT NUMBER(govt doesn't do that) They'll rather make you pay with TIME(Office k chakkar katwaenge) - There’s always URGENCY /HURRY UP & if you dont do ₹XYZ there will be consequences. -YOU NEVER PAY BILLS VIA SCANNER SENT ON PHONE. -I'VE NEVER SEEN a govt official accepting payment with a UPI Id(on the go) -COMMON SENSE- IF our judicial system takes so much time to punish criminals why would they cut connections/threaten

The most evident way to find out is that they don't communicate as per their company procedure which is unprofessional or there might be mistake in the communication via messages which is very evident in this video also according to screenshot shown
i was in adani electricity as CSA. and you can just call adani adn ask it's 24hrs open. and no one can disconnect your electricity, it'll take 1.5 month

In Assam we face this type of problem, The electricity department is Assam has installed smart meter , with the help of samrt meter , tey are abled to cut our connection from their office, and later we have to pay penalty for late payment

Scammers tried this with my sister just few days back. S1: A message saying your connection will be cut unless you pay your bill. R1: My sisters panicked because her roommate usually paid the bill. And her roommates number was not reachable. Looking at the mobile number she did thought it to be some scammer but just to be sure she called the number up. & To her surprise the person who answered, introduced himself as a excutive from Delhi electricity board.It was clear to her that it is a scam for obvious reasons. The guy asked her to download team viewer on mobile and give him access.

A similar thing happened in my city but this time , scammers were at the doorstep. They confronted a house owner pretending to be from the electricity department and asked house owner to pay bill. Though house owner had already paid all the bills. Then they start saying that may be there was bug, we never received any money n all. So they asked him to pay 100rs in order to use services and to fix this issue. They installed an app in house owners phone and asked him to pay via card. That app was actually screen mirroring app , they took card details. Not sure if they manage to pull out some additional money from owner's bank account

I was recently in an electricity department office and saw a letter regarding disconnection as the owner had not paid around lakhs of Rs in previous bills. Anyways it was a notice of disconnection. So I guess it usually takes a lot of time for such actions to actually happen

The same incident happened with me , I called the no. given below , and the man on the other side was surprisingly listened and advised me , I understood govt. official will not ever listen someone patiently.

There are many sms service site which provide personalisation of sender name. don't trust on sender name. They use sms service like octopush.
