      So sorry for the dreadful pronunciation of mojo which doesn’t even make sense in Spanish. I hang my head. All the best to you too sir. Thank you for your comment, hugely appreciated 👍

    i love this video, it’s so inspiring and i love your picture style, im a concert photographer and have been dealing with some issues of confidence in my photos because my sensor got damaged with a laser and I haven’t been able to pay the fix, I just get blocked because i think the pictures are bad, but i have tried to find ways around it and people think it’s kind of my style
    anyway, just the video game confidence to try more and see how can i work with my camera

      @louisewelcomephotography  8 місяців тому

      Woah, concert photography … that’s impressive but also ouch! I’m sorry re the damage... that truly sucks. It’s interesting you mention picture style as I’m not sure you notice it in your own work easily. Can people tell you what your style is? I think that’s impressive if you’ve got it despite the sensor damage. I wish you a positive 2024 … good luck 🤞

    I tried a "project" this past year that was all about more waterfall photography. I did manage to shoot three different falls but I was hoping to shoot more. I think I'm too old to set goals and start projects, I lose my mojo trying to meet and complete them. Photography is supposed to be fun, and so for 2024 my "goal" and "project" is to make it more fun!

    • @louisewelcomephotography
      @louisewelcomephotography  8 місяців тому +1

      😊 fair play. I think my idea of a project is to just make me look about as opposed to sitting on one comp for sometimes over an hour and stubbornly ignoring other possibilities ‘just Incase’ . No idea if it will work or if I’ll remember to do it! Have a positive start to 2024. 🎉

    My first visit to your channel. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your honesty. I found this video helpful. I am going to watch it again and take notes for this coming year. Your pictures look lovely and beyond my present reach but within my imagining that I might be able to approach, with practice!

      Well hello there Jonathan, welcome and a happy new year to you. I think practice and making mistakes is so important. By my goodness is it difficult and at times blooming disheartening! Just keep going and try to hone in on improving a couple of things (or getting your head around them) as opposed to scatter gunning. I wish you every success and I’ll see you next year on here! 👍

    Good luck! Projects help keep me focused (sorry!). I find projects evolve as they go along, sometimes into more interesting projects than originally planned. I've been making zines lately, they are inexpensive and a great way to put projects or collections in print rather than sitting hidden on my hard drive. I also am in the process of printing and framing my work and displaying them in our home.

      Happy New Year! I'm a 76 year old Vietnam Veteran. In 2016 we moved to a small rural town in Central Illinois. I proposed to our local American Legion that I would put a book together with portraits of local veterans of all ages. The project started out with just a B&W portrait and a short 1 or 2 line bio of the veteran. After a few sessions I realized my portrait project was now going to have to include at least a one page bio on the vet which was out of my comfort zone. I ended up having 52 veterans in the book. The legion paid the publishing costs, each vet received a free hardcover copy. I donated all my time and work. I'm proud to say a copy is in our local library and one at our local high school library. The project was published in 2018 and unfortunately 13 of the 52 veterans have passed on. This tribute to these fine men and women has been greatly appreciated by their families who many never had a formal portrait of their loved ones. @@louisewelcomephotography Due to my numerous photo projects (zines) and local FaceBook group posting I have more friends just living in this town of 5,500 in 7 years than 35 years in our previous home with a population of 56,000. Photography has helped me make a connection with my local community.

    Thing is, almost no one sees my photography.... not even my family. So, its not easy to really find a reason to get out and take pictures. Kathy gave me a book for Christmas. It's a "Fifty Week challenge" book. So, I am hoping to keep it going... looking for that one shot each week. ( I like your "three shot" approach" ). Maybe I'll do three shots and pick one for the book. I guess in eight or ten weeks I will know how it's going and if it will help me with this photography adventure that I started sixty years ago.

    • @louisewelcomephotography
      @louisewelcomephotography  8 місяців тому

      Ah Mark is that because you choose not to share it? If not, I’d be interested or can help you put yourself out there through a few groups. Nigel, my husband, has said the same but I add some of his shots to my vids as they are genuinely of interest. Now, one shot per week is a tall order in my book. I have spells when I get nowt and then boom 💥… a lot happens. Be flexible and also look behind. 60 years ago… respect sir 🙏. Wishing you a positive 2024 😊

    Nobody can be inspired 365 days a year, take a rest, don't worry about it. Going to lots of new places in 2024, that will help. The Fanal Forest was a 100% failure for me in 2020, couldn't see the back of my hand, let alone the trees - need to be there for 10 more days, I'm guessing.

    Thanks for another poignant video …!
    As the old adage does …. “You only learn from your own mistakes - and not from other people’s!”
    However, I’ve found that you need to be hyper-critical with your images! Can everyone manage this?
    Sadly, there are too many photographers, I’ve come across in my travels to various camera clubs, as a Guest Speaker - would only entertain ‘Likes’!
    Indeed, as you say ….. only way to get your ‘Mojo’ back is …… Get out and keep practicing what you do best! Take more images - good, bad, mediocre or diabolical! As long as you’re ’out there’ and making images!
    But most importantly …. “Keep snapping and have Fun!”

    • @louisewelcomephotography
      @louisewelcomephotography  Місяць тому

      @@HJ-nh1wl well said!
      It’s often interesting when you are tremendously happy with an image and it’s in your top few for the year and then you don’t see it for a while and perspective hits … it’s become a good ish and perhaps even meh image! Part of that is because skills and tastes develop but time is such a leveller. Letting go of your darlings isn’t easy though, particularly when they may represent a huge leap forward for your practice.
      Thanks for your feedback… good to talk 😉😁
