@@Corsa15DT The Master System had a 4 MHz Zilog Z80 CPU, which was faster than the NES 6502 NMOS CPU of 1.79 MHz. So the Master System 's CPU wasn't to bad for a 8-BIT console.
I find this version to be the closest to the movie, even when comparing to the Genesis and Snes version, they even put the bread scene from the beggining, prince ali costume, and several cutscenes such as the lamp at the cave of wonders in-game.
I was stunned by how this game pushed the Master System. This wasn't a lazy cash in. Just looking at pseudo 3D FX in the background. It's not the best in playability, but it plays well none the less.
this is the only verision of the aladdin game that let's you play as aladdin in his "Prince Ali" attire the music and sprites are EPIC and this is an 8-bit consol which makes it even mre epic.
I think it's the best version of Aladdin game. Imagine how back then you would feel knowing you can experience the entire movie again on your console, AS Aladdin. It's like Aladdin, but YOU are Aladdin. And you're not just playing levels based on movie, you're playing THE movie.
cutscenes are about as long maybe longer as the actual gameplay. but it captures the movie perfectly. it hits all the story points even the "do you trust me" scene. wow
Yep, this was also the first game I ever completed too. I remember asking for this for my birthday, being given the money for it then buying it from Electronics Boutique. I also remember being incredibly disappointed because the gameplay was different to the Mega Drive (No sword, no apples), but I ended up absolutely loving it and playing it to death. Brilliant memories :) Thank you T -0815 and Cubex55!
Even in the Snes version the pant's hole is mirrorred when Aladdin turns to the other side. But in this game the hole is always on the right leg. Interesting touch
An interesting detail, is that patch Alladin has on one leg of his pants. It keeps on the same leg when he turns to look to the other side. They didn't just mirror the image. . Take a look at Ducktales by Capcom, you'll see that when Scrooge turns to the other side, he's cane changes hand. That's because the image is mirrored to save memory in graphics.
+Rodrigo de Cos Gawrysiak That's mainly because the Master system, unlike the NES, could not flip sprites. So every character in a game that would walk left and right had to be drawn twice.
+Rodrigo de Cos Gawrysiak The Master system can flip background tiles though. The greatest advantage the NES had was the larger palette of different sounds to choose from, plus it could play samples natively (with 1-bit DPCM encoding)
Never knew about this version and I think I like this one the best. Very accurate to the movie, they even made the prince costume. Impressive. Especially for a 8-bit title.
Wow what a fantastic version of one of my all-time favorite classic games! I don't know why The Sega Genesis version didn't have the carpet ride with Jasmine. It would've been perfect then.
This was the version I played as a kid. I honestly didn't know the other versions existed until I saw the MD/Genesis version on UA-cam. I wish it had been included in the recent re-releases.
It's amazing; 3 good and unique games with similar gameplay and mechanics. This one stands out for being close to the film with more story, and very technically impressive
We never had a Sega Master System back in the day and so I never even try SMS games because there's no nostalgia for me, but I decided to try this game and boy am I hooked! The game is simple but engaging and immersive thanks in no small part to the colorful graphics which is really good for an 8-bit system! I think I'll be playing this through and I'll be giving SMS games more attention from here on!
Kinda wanna own this myself. The psuedo 3-D effects were amazing, and even though I do wish we got something more like the Genesis or Chinese NES pirate on Master System, I kinda prefer the way they did the story in this one versus the Genesis one. It keeps a bit more loyal to its source material. It's like combining Temple Run, with Prince of Persia and the SNES Aladdin.
Great looking 8 bit game. Shows just how advanced the Master System was. I also love how it is a different game than the Genesis version. Did this game get an FM soundtrack?
The only thing that the competitor, the NES definitely had better was the sound, but even then, this game has pretty good music for a master system game.
@vuurniacSquarewave nes better sound? haha. name me 1 game where the nes versions sounds better than the sms version, i wait. while nes games don't sound bad the master system has better hardware
Has some of the most technically impressive visuals I've seen on the Master System in those first couple levels--shame they basically gave up after that.
That's because almost all the Disney games on the Master System were developed either by Sega or by some associated studio to them, except for a couple of games like The Jungle Book and The Lion King which were done by Virgin.
Only for base hardware. With the addition of extra chips in the cartridges, namley the MMC chips, especially the MMC5 chip, the NES was ultimately capable of things the Master System couldn't quite do.
The biggest advantage Master System had was the 16-bit graphics chip and the wide bandwidth of the 16-bit data bus. Master System has more in common with PC-Engine/Turbografx than NES (and Master System has a wider color palette than TG16, heck it's even better than Genesis for some dumb reason) Other examples of good looking Master System games are Mortal Kombat 1 and 2, The Flash, Road Rash, Ninja Gaiden, Space Harrier 3d. It's a terrible game but Sonic Blast shows off the color depth of the console
I get stucked so often in the cave, because first I ddint know how to glid on the floor, but I found it out after minutes. And when I replayed it I already forgot how to do it and it took me minutes again to find out how to glide.
sega added soo much humour to aladdin, and so did disney,, but in reality in these arabian places theives dont get off so lightly, off with your hands, and thrown in prison.. 40 lashes. love the megadrive version.
That first level is just technically wow for the Master System. It's a shame all the other level were clearly just drawn in as a single layer with little effort to do anything else.
This game looks beautiful with excellent OST. Now, wtf happened when they did the NES port??? I get it that the master system is more powerful when it comes to graphics but that's no excuse when a NES bootleg is better than the NED oficial
I cheated at this game when I used to play it. You see, the password for the last level was UIAN - and three letters of that password belong to my name. And I used to kick Cobra-Jafar's arse!
Man I know we like this game, but today it seems very ridiculous. Not the graphics, the gameplay. I even found "old" the gameplay of the remake of Spyro and couldnt play it. We have moved on, gameplay on 90s was very simple. The only game i could play again from back then is Gran Turismo 1.
It's impressive that, out of all versions, the 8bit version is the one that more faithfully follows the movie plot.
This game has incredible graphics for an 8-bit system!!!
it had the most advanced gpu at the time and one of the slowest cpu.
@@Corsa15DT The Master System had a 4 MHz Zilog Z80 CPU, which was faster than the NES 6502 NMOS CPU of 1.79 MHz. So the Master System 's CPU wasn't to bad for a 8-BIT console.
@@ulysses2162 Not exactly, it takes more clock cycles for it to do anything so the higher clock speed was necessary to be on par with the 6502.
Not to mention that you can almost see the 3D walls in the first level
If I didn't know better. I'd probably think it was sixteen bit.
I find this version to be the closest to the movie, even when comparing to the Genesis and Snes version, they even put the bread scene from the beggining, prince ali costume, and several cutscenes such as the lamp at the cave of wonders in-game.
This game did a great job sticking to the movie.
Really impressive animation for 8-bit. These developers for the SMS were kickass!
I was stunned by how this game pushed the Master System. This wasn't a lazy cash in.

the gpu has more bits ;)
The best 8-bit Aladdin was in the Master System hands down!

Alladin do master é o mais fiel ao filme. Apesar de curta, é uma linda versão.

Even in 2020, it looks beautiful! Good times...
Cresci nos anos 90 e posso dizer com certeza que o 8bits da sega dava de sinta no da nintento isso na época dos 8bits 🤙🏽
Hehe 8bit consoles, MasterSystem is still my favouite after all these years.

Joguei esse clássico no meu Master System, gráfico lindo e trilha sonora magnifica para época.

Never noticed that! Good catch and impressive work by the team to go to the extra trouble on the little detail.
Best game adaptation of Aladdin
This version seems to take a more if a Prince of Persia game play then the others.
ok, THIS was an incredible port. Lucky to have played it when it came out.
Never knew about this version and I think I like this one the best. Very accurate to the movie, they even made the prince costume. Impressive. Especially for a 8-bit title.
That was such a treat to watch. Thank you!
Amazing and incredably detailed version of Aladdin, the devs did a fantastic job!
The Master System does a better job at telling the story then Disney can currently

Hermoso recuerdo de mi infancia❤
It’s a short but really cool little gem for Master System.
mind blowing what some games look like on the Master System, it's almost hard to believe it's an 8 bit console.
"Go jump off a balcony!"
*jumps*
lmao

The only thing that the competitor, the NES definitely had better was the sound, but even then, this game has pretty good music for a master system game.
No, only earlier japanese games had FM support. Except for Sonic 1, which received a romhack with FM sound.

The SNES version is also almost like the movie, but there's no doubt this version is far, far more faithful to the motion picture story than that one.

Seems to follow the movie beat by beat. Is it as fun as the other versions though? I’ve never played it.
No matter what I do, I can't do the ledge jump at 8:03 (from lower floor to higher) What is the trick?
Still have the game gear version of this game. Beat it several times, great game.
master system (hardware power, not games) mopped the floor with nes

The Master System could be extended by additional chips on the cartridges, too, so add-on chips do not really count.
Well, Razul certainly is persistant
Amazing!
If you compare this game to the Aladdin game for the NES even the last sceptic should be convinced of the Master System's superiority. :-]
Right in the childhood
I get stucked so often in the cave, because first I ddint know how to glid on the floor, but I found it out after minutes. And when I replayed it I already forgot how to do it and it took me minutes again to find out how to glide.

Why in this version final boss snake is gorgeous and the megadrive version have a little shit sprite? xD
The final level in the Mega Drive version always seemed a bit rushed to me. Looks like a fan rom hack. Were they struggling to meet a deadline?
Enigma of the Absolute Actually, yes. Mega Drive Aladdin was pretty rushed.
