I soak my veges in cold water and salt. All of the dirt sinks to the bottom and bugs float to the top. My mum taught me this. Just another idea if you don’t have vege wash 😊
Same! We use cold water, salt and little bit of vinegar or baking soda on the farm to do lots of our own produce, gifts from neighbors or from the store. It’s pretty effective Although my grandma would often have like a transfer colander or strainer for the produce to sit in and drain so we could then transfer it to the rinsing bucket/sink. Sometimes a literal bathtub if it was a big enough job 😅. Between my super southern moms side and Vietnamese dads side we certainly had a way about it 😂
Don’t worry about people telling you that you need to use less water or you need to do something different than what works for you. You do you. I watch your videos because I like them and I like your approach to being a vegan. A lot of people just like to judge and hate. You are good doing whatever you feel is best for you. I appreciate your videos. You don’t need to apologize for anything that you do because we all just do the best we can. Great video just like last one. Thank you! 🙏🏻😊
Your comments about people's thoughts about your using too much water or not liking the plastic bag, girl don't let anyone shame you! You do your best, and that's enough! No one is perfect, and if they say they are, they are lying! You do a great job!! 😊❤
I’ve been watching you for years, and I always love your meal prep videos! They tend to inspire me to put a little more work into prepping my veggies when I get them, instead of just chucking them in the fridge unwashed.
Girl...so glad I found your channel!! Just getting into plant-based eating and your channel will be SO MUCH HELP!!! Thanks for taking the time to do this!!!
This was great! A tip that might help you save some water when washing the veggies is using two bowls, one to soak with the soap, the other bowl would be filled with clean water to rinse off the produce.
Also you can take a square dish pan for washing and put the veggies into a colander, wash then place into cleaning solution, then dump washed veggies into another colander inside a square pan with clean water and swish up and down…..lift the colander out shake then I put mine into a spinner. I bought square containers with holes at Dollar Store for doing this….they make a large colander and I can have multiple ones when I have a heavy load of veggies. I just discovered cooking turnips, onions and garlic then puréed makes an great thick base for adding to soups for a thickener…
I take all my veggie scraps and put into a bag then I make my own veggie stock. I also take veggie leafs and scraps wash and dry them and I dehydrate them …..then I grind those into powder for soups, casseroles and smoothies…..a small jar of beet powder is around $18. Even if you don’t have a dehydrator you can air dry or place in your oven on the lowest temp with the door opened a little and dry. My husband doesn’t care for a lot of veggies but with dehydrated ones or powdered veggies he gets added nutrients ….. Also having dehydrated veggies in jars in my pantry allows me to add them into recipes if l can’t get to the store ….like last summer I dehydrated a lot of squash, zucchini, etc……giving me a source to go to when prices area really high. Dehydrated cherry tomatoes are like candy ….great on salads and sandwiches……rehydrated and puréed into a sauce or dressing in the winter when you crave the garden fresh taste…
I viewed one of your videos a few days ago and I loved the see through tjmaxx containers. I went there and bought some. I love how their stackable. I had a bunch of baggies piled on top of each other. Thanks for the info. My fridge almost looks like yours now.👍🌿🍅🌶
When mini peppers are cheap I buy them in a large quantity and slice them into a mason jar with vinegar covering them and I use a plastic lid because vinegar will rust your metal lids. Try pickling your carrots, radishes and onions for probiotic add ons to your salads. I can veggies in broth to have as quick add ons to recipes. So nice when you’re tired and want fast food, sautéed slightly and add over noodles or rice with a good sauce..yum… I cook four vegetarian meals a week for a professional couple who works long hours and want good meals fast……a favorite is egg wraps and fill with cooked rice, thinly sliced veggies and air fry the rolls till crisp….dip in peanut sauce or sweet sour dip……so good.
If you haven't already it may be worth setting up an amazon store so you can make a little commission on the items you use and recommend. Great video, thanks. x
Hi chanty! I've been following you for a long time, I've always looked forward to your videos! Do you think you can do more instapot recipes with your prep? I love those recipes, they are so practical for busy life meal prep! Thanks!!
It's really great that you are trying to be as mindful, sustainable and eco-friendly as you can. We cannot be perfect, but we can try to do our best. Keep up the good work! :)
You need to fill the carrot container with water to keep them fresh and crunchy and change the water every few days, that way they stay crispy and dont dry out. Same with celery sticks.
I recently came across your videos and you completely motivated me to meal prep. Thank you! Your videos also have me dinner ideas which was a life savor.
First of all I was so excited to get a notification you had a new video up. Second, awesome topic. I have a problem with my greens going bad too fast. This is a much needed tutorial for me!! What composter do you use? The greens held up great. Definitely going to try this this weekend when I come back from the farmers market.
Late to the party but I really enjoy and appreciate your prep video. It inspire me to try to eat healthier. I do buy a lot of veggies but have not learnt to prep that. But I am going to do that now to keep them fresher (and more appealing to eat). But also gosh the price of food have gone through the roof so I need to use everything to save money!!! Thank you I need to go hit up TJMaxx!!!
I don't think my greens will ever last one whole week without starting getting slimy. My refrigerator is old and doesn't work properly even when turning it way down my greens get icy
I don’t remember the brand name sadly 😔 I’ll go back to my store and look! I got them in the office storage section. These ones are the most similar I’ve found on Amazon! amzn.to/45yBPi2 amzn.to/425X6gl
When you go back home can your do a cooking video with your BFF (Rymo?? not sure if that’s spelled right) and your cousin/ niece. They were awesome when you did home vlogs with them
Whoever commented on your water use is probably just a troll. Your diet choice saves so much water, because it isn't used to grow grain for feed animals. Plant-based eating is extremely water efficient. Wash those veggies, girl!
With all those yummy 😋 Greens in your diet Chanty Marie you will be one of the healthiest people on the planet. Love 😍 my Greens and love 🥰 this video & love 💕 Chanty Marie.
If the vege wash is grey water safe, then I wouldn't be concerned about the water comments. You can always soak and wash in the house and then take all the veges outside and rinse them over the grass.
Did you use all the carrots that you found in the fridge the last time? I love that kind of kale I think it's heartier than the curly one, is it called Tuscan kale on the west coast like it is here?

Where did you get the glass jars?
weck jars!

yes i used them all! yes ive heard it be called tuscan dino or lactinato!
Guess what, bougenvilla plants don't like too much water
how long did it take you? :)
If I’m just doing it by myself it would only take like 20- 30 minutes but filming this took 2 hours!
You're fast! It would take me 2 hours WITHOUT filming! 😆 I have to get faster in the kitchen.
Stash bags?
I’ve never tried them! They are very expensive, do you like them?
